North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 659: Dispirited Mood

"Everyone shut up! FBI! Stop!"

Jimmy shot three people dead. The people inside the SPA club were terrified, screams echoed as they scrambled and hid. Jimmy had no choice but to shout for everyone to calm down.

In the elevator, Mark had heard the gunshots earlier, but there wasn't much space to take cover. He could only stay to the side, gun drawn, watching. He pressed the door open button, at least allowing him to observe multiple areas.

Hearing Jimmy's words, he knew the scene was under control. He peeked and then exited the elevator, assisting Jimmy in controlling the situation.

Jimmy's continuous shouting finally took effect, and everyone in the SPA club calmed down. Those hiding stayed quiet as well. Jimmy said to Mark, "Mark, call for backup, control the scene."

He ran over to Agent Lars, "Lars, are you okay?"

Lars clutched his shoulder, expressing some pain. Julia had already reached Lars when Jimmy was shouting to control the scene. She said, ".22 caliber bullet, the wound is small, nothing serious for now."

Jimmy breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good, Agent Lars, sorry for involving you in such a dangerous action."

Lars also turned to look at his wound, then pressed around it. She looked at Jimmy, "I'm fine, don't overthink it, you handle the scene first."

Jimmy nodded. Julia helped Lars to a chair nearby to sit down. Jimmy then asked Julia, "What exactly happened? Why did you suddenly act?"

Julia: "Sorry, that woman you shot, she just happened to walk out. Lars and I were registering at the front desk, and suddenly she started shouting 'capture them.' Then those two bodyguards ran towards us, forcing us to retaliate."

She must have recognized me. I guess they took photos or videos of me when I was kidnapped and sent them to her."

Jimmy clenched his right hand and struck his left hand, "Damn, I forgot about that, should have sent someone else."

Julia: "This was just an accident. The most troubling thing now is that they are all dead. Continuing the investigation will be very difficult."

Jimmy raised his hand to stop Julia, and he approached the SPA club staff, "Who is in charge here? Is there surveillance?"

A middle-aged woman stood up, "I'm the manager here. There's surveillance at the entrance, but I can't access the control room."

Jimmy: "Who has the key?"

She pointed to the woman Jimmy shot, "Diana, she was our boss."

Jimmy looked at Julia, "Julia, after the forensic team arrives, assist them in retrieving the surveillance footage." Then he turned to Mark, "Mark, the ambulance isn't here yet?"

Mark: "Estimated 2-3 more minutes, it'll be here soon."

Jimmy nodded, "You two are in charge of the scene."

After speaking, Jimmy pushed open the nearby fire escape door and entered the stairwell, taking out a pack of cigarettes and lighting one for himself. At this point, the no-smoking policy didn't matter anymore.

He was really upset, initially aiming to follow the leads to dismantle the entire gang, but the investigation turned into such a fiasco, even getting Agent Lars shot. He couldn't believe Qiu Shuixian was so cautious, able to recognize Julia just from photos and immediately ordered their capture. That decisiveness was truly terrifying.

If Qiu Shuixian hadn't opted for capture and followed her previous plan to leave the club, whether to attend her own matters or escape promptly, she could have easily gotten away. Lars and Julia would probably have just followed her downstairs or informed Jimmy to tail her, and the outcome wouldn't have been as outrageous.

Frustrated, Jimmy smoked while a bunch of F-words slipped out. Mark and Julia, managing the scene and stabilizing everyone's emotions, heard him. They exchanged a glance, shrugged, and continued working.

Jimmy was likely the most frustrated. To ensure Julia's safety during the investigation, he specifically contacted the experienced Supervisory Special Agent Lars to assist. No one else could have been called out, and yet both ended up involved, simultaneously held at gunpoint. If Jimmy hadn't arrived quickly, their end wouldn't have been good.

Lars also heard Jimmy swearing in the stairwell, equally frustrated. She'd done many such investigations, although less frequently after handling kidnapping cases. But she wasn't inexperienced. Who would have thought the opponent would order the bodyguards to act without saying a word?

Luckily, she pressed the alarm button in time, and Jimmy was just downstairs, not far. If they'd waited for the police backup, it would have been too late.

Hearing Jimmy vent in the stairwell somewhat comforted her, as no one could've anticipated this, but fortunately, she wasn't the one in charge. She glanced at her shoulder again; today's luck was decent. To ensure the handgun remained concealed and not easily discovered, Qiu Shuixian used a well-concealed Walther P22.22 caliber handgun. The .22lr bullet had low kinetic energy and a small caliber, causing far less damage than the commonly used 9mm, meaning no long hospital stay was needed for now.

The shooting here also affected nearby companies, prompting them to call the police. So when the ambulance arrived, police cars were already downstairs. The officers quickly came upstairs, checked Mark and the others' credentials, and began maintaining order in the vicinity. Jimmy, sitting in the stairwell, didn't even step out.
