North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 658: Killed on the Spot

Everything must be done step by step. Now, a cargo ship from the organization Shadow of Quetzalcoatl has been detained, and judging from the Coast Guard's feedback, their reliability is somewhat questionable.

It's understandable. To expand smuggling operations in the United States, you can't avoid dealing with two units related to customs and the coast: one is Customs, the other is the Coast Guard. It's not about spending a fortune to settle everyone, but at the very least, there must be someone who can speak up and provide timely information.

The preliminary report from New York came out in just one day, which clearly indicates some powerful individuals helped from behind the scenes. The cost for their assistance must have been significant.

For Jimmy, dealing with the Flower Shadow requires finding their interpersonal relations and bases of operation, which is quite troublesome. However, for a smuggling gang like Shadow of Quetzalcoatl, it's much simpler. Their locations are already known, so it's just a matter of splitting the team for simultaneous raids. The only issue is the search warrant, which is somewhat troublesome for Jimmy, as Julia and the others have been rescued and there's not much subsequent evidence, only testimonies.

Jimmy and Mark left Lars' office and first stopped by Ruiz to check in.

Upon hearing Jimmy's verbal report on the case, Ruiz understood his intentions. Jimmy wanted to wrap up the kidnapping case neatly, either out of revenge for his own people or due to a sense of justice demanding him to eliminate these suspects further down the line. Either way, the ultimate goal was clear.

After pondering for a moment, Ruiz finally spoke: "I can try to apply for a search warrant for you, targeting these two locations and warehouses, but this isn't something we can do frequently. It would put a lot of pressure on the federal judge."

Jimmy: "Will it be very troublesome?"

Ruiz nodded: "The evidence and testimonies are too scant, creating high uncertainty. If this search warrant is questioned, it might affect their later developments."

Jimmy thought for a moment, "Is this the only opportunity?"

Ruiz nodded again, without speaking further.

Jimmy: "Then let's hold off. I need to confirm the organization status of the Flower Shadow. If there's any lead, let's resolve it together to avoid further issues. Besides, we need to search many places, so we might require more people to act separately."

Ruiz: "That's no problem. I can find others to assist you. However, regarding the Coast Guard, you might face some trouble. Cutting off someone's financial path could invite big problems, maybe not targeting you directly, but..."

Jimmy glanced at Mark, who sat silently beside him, then turned back to Ruiz: "I understand. But this time, our people were kidnapped. If there's pressure, pass it to me. Maybe I can withstand some of that pressure in certain aspects."

Ruiz: "As long as you understand. Go get the work done. If you confirm everything, give me the report, and I'll help you apply for the search warrant."

Jimmy and Mark left Ruiz's office. This time, Mark couldn't hold back and asked: "Yang, is there really no problem with this?"

Jimmy: "The Coast Guard?"

Mark: "Yes, they've already submitted a preliminary report, and if we proceed like this, it's essentially completely denying their report, which will lead to a lot of trouble later, right?"

Jimmy: "Indeed, it's troublesome, which is why this operation must not involve them. Our action this time is entirely based on the charges laid by the Heisen brothers we captured against the gang providing them with transportation channels. It has nothing to do with the ship, except that gang members were on it. As for what they were doing on the ship, I believe they'll have a suitable reason prepared."

Mark said nothing further, silently following Jimmy back to the Homicide Team office to make a copy of Agent Lars' notebook, returning the original, before both of them left the office to head to the detention center to interrogate the Flytrap.

The Flytrap had already learned about what Jimmy and the others did. After rescuing Julia and the others, he was interrogated by Agent Lars. However, she only focused on the kidnapping case, asking about its details without pursuing his superiors' and clients' information. From the kidnapping case's perspective, they specifically targeted beautiful women.

Agent Lars included this testimony in the notebook she gave Jimmy. Although the final report hasn't been issued, based on the current situation, Lars doesn't oppose Jimmy pursuing further leads. From her perspective, it's unnecessary for her to handle these tasks; Jimmy will take care of it. This is evident from her providing Jimmy with the original interrogation record instead of a compiled report.

The Flytrap admitted straightforwardly to his involvement in the kidnapping. With previous testimonies and the driver and vehicle involved in Julia's abduction, now that they've been rescued, their actions haven't resulted in severe outcomes. If handled as a usual kidnapping case, serving a few years may suffice, posing no significant issue for them.

Jimmy and Mark stood in the interrogation room waiting for the prison guards to bring in the Flytrap. His identity had already been confirmed, as using a real identity without criminal actions made blending in easier. Moreover, his profession as a fitness coach naturally allowed interactions with various types of people, which was convenient for their business.
