North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 657: Pleasant Cooperation

After waking up in the afternoon, Jimmy called the forensics department. The results were not out yet. After some thought, Jimmy decided to rest at home, not bothering to go to the office.

He called Mark. Julia had already gone home. Her body weakened in the early morning due to the drug effects, compounded by not eating all day and drinking very little water, which led to some physical weakness. By daytime, she had mostly returned to normal.

This is good, at least she's okay. Many things will be easier to handle later on. If something really happened to Julia, Jimmy and the others would be utterly disgraced.

Returning to the office the next day, Mark was already there. Julia was given leave by Jimmy to rest at home and find someone to fix the door, which had been kicked down when they entered for inspection. Later, the forensics team merely secured it, but to use it normally, it had to be repaired or simply replaced.

Mark saw Jimmy and immediately stood up, picking up the materials on the table and handing them to Jimmy. "Yang, the Coast Guard has given a preliminary investigation report."

As Jimmy opened it, he asked, "Did they find anything?"

Mark: "The report didn't mention it. The cargo on the ship has been confirmed, all are normal goods, and we've contacted the merchant to confirm. Besides being implicated in the kidnapping case we've confirmed, no other violations were found. Of course, those individuals are a different matter. Their fight with you is confirmed, and there are bullet holes on the New York Port Authority speedboat, which cannot be denied."

Jimmy: "Did they catch anyone else? Five people were involved in the shootout with us, but I only killed four."

Mark: "The captain and the sailors have been captured, but they were not on deck. According to the current report, only four people can be confirmed, and they have been killed."

Jimmy: "They're lying. I'm sure at least one person escaped from the deck at that time. Well, since they submitted a preliminary report, let's not investigate them. The Coast Guard isn't under our jurisdiction."

Jimmy took the report back to his seat and continued flipping through it. What Mark said was indeed true, at least according to this report. He had checked the report very carefully, or he wouldn't have answered so well; this is commendable. Mark is thorough in his work.

However, Jimmy did not agree with the report. What's more, someone indeed ran off on the deck. This isn't an operation by a lone wolf; it must be a gang. Moreover, their ability to directly connect with the Heisen brothers indicates definite ties to the underworld in New York.

After reading the report, Jimmy got up to go to Senior Agent Lars' side. The people he captured were still under Lars' control. Because of Ruiz's arrangement in the command center, this kidnapping case was specifically assigned to Senior Agent Lars, who specializes in kidnapping cases, while Jimmy just cooperated in handling the case. So in theory, the people he captured would be under Lars' jurisdiction.

Now he was going to find the two people caught on the yacht. They should be the Heisen brothers' men, if not the brothers themselves.

Senior Agent Lars and Jimmy's styles differ. She is a more straightforward FBI agent who abides by the rules, is outstanding in ability, and for a woman in the FBI to handle kidnapping cases, where the victim fatality rate is high, is quite difficult. Besides her personal ability, it must be said that women indeed have a great advantage in comforting the families of the kidnapped individuals.

Of course, this does not overshadow her personal capabilities, nor does it make people feel like she has strong backing. After all, this is the FBI, not a regular company, where personal capability requirements are quite stringent at a certain level.

Because Julia and Kelly were successfully rescued, Lars didn't resort to any illegal methods during the interrogation but followed standard procedures. Thus, although the two people on the yacht were captured, they still haven't said anything and have requested a lawyer, further delaying Lars' interrogation progress.

Lars couldn't illegally prevent them from seeing a lawyer but still played a little trick by not sending them to the detention center but instead directly locking them in the interrogation room, limiting their external communication. If they'd been sent to the detention center according to regular procedures, they would have been able to meet too many people, which could easily leak information.

Jimmy greeted Lars and entered the interrogation room. Lars didn't come in but was observing through the one-way glass.

The two were kept separately, and Jimmy glanced at the files before choosing a bald man.

Stepping into the interrogation room, Jimmy first asked, "George Jones?"

Bald George looked up at Jimmy, appearing very tired. Due to Lars' arrangement, he wasn't allowed to stay at the detention center, having been in the interrogation room for a day, and was already exhausted. Even if he could lie down for a while, he would still feel miserable.

Jimmy saw he wasn't answering and sat down across from George. "I'm Senior Agent Jimmy Yang of the FBI, your captor's superior. Hmm, good expression. I suppose the person who interrogated you yesterday didn't tell you this. One of the individuals you kidnapped is an FBI agent, my subordinate."
