Chapter 636: Hand-to-Hand Combat

The bullets had little effect, and Jimmy was a bit confused. Had he just possessed the Priest's body for such a short time and already strengthened it to this extent?

The bullets didn't penetrate deep into Bennett the Priest's thigh. Compared to the two people they encountered before, the damage was relatively high, but this was just the initial possession. If it lasted longer, he might truly become impervious to swords and bullets.

Even though Bennett was shot, it affected him slightly. He staggered to one side, giving the other priests a chance to surround him again. The bullet in his leg slightly impeded Bennett's movement. Although the impact wasn't severe, to the priests skilled in combat, it was a flaw.

After being possessed, Bennett's control over his body was clearly increasing. Jimmy could only watch from the side. If he left the priests' encirclement, he'd be hit by a shot targeting his legs. Soon, his 1875 revolver was emptied.

Bennett was too tough, and the bullets Jimmy had wouldn't suffice. He turned and ran back to the car, grabbed a bag, slung it across his chest, took out a speedloader to reload his 1875, discarded the speedloader, and then took two preloaded moon clips from the bag and put them in his pocket for backup, before returning to the battle scene.

"Restrict his movements." Priest Rodney observed Jimmy's position in his spare moment, yelling to him while engaging in combat. Despite the difficulty, the priests still didn't draw their weapons—whether short swords or sharp-headed axes, they fought unarmed, trying to suppress Bennett.

Jimmy didn't wait any longer. He sidestepped, raised his 1875 revolver at Bennett, this time aiming higher for his abdomen, and fired two shots during the others' attack intervals.

The loud sound of the revolver was an advantage. Jimmy's attacks served as a reminder for the others. From outside the battle group, Jimmy's marksmanship was precise, able to hit Bennett, so soon everyone adjusted their positions to create a spot for Jimmy to fire normally during their attacks.

Jimmy didn't say anything to the others, just silently fired at Bennett shot by shot. Soon the revolver in his right hand was empty, and he lifted the gun to release the spent cartridges, took out a moon clip to reload, swapped to his left-hand revolver, and continued shooting.

Just as he fired one shot, Bennett suddenly erupted, kicking a priest's shin, following up by grabbing the priest's wrist and smashing his forearm with the other hand. With a "crack," the priest's forearm broke. But another priest grabbed Bennett's shoulder from behind, hooked his arm around Bennett's neck, and tried to squeeze tight, attempting to control Bennett.

The priest with the broken arm withdrew from the battle. Rodney and another priest took the chance to try grabbing Bennett's arms from either side. However, possessed Bennett's strength increased significantly. He reached back and grabbed the priest behind him, bent over, and threw him out, freeing the arm around his neck.

Bennett didn't entangle with Rodney and the others anymore. He broke free from their encirclement and rushed at Jimmy, shouting as he charged, "I've finally confirmed it, you're a gunslinger. How lucky, I haven't heard your kind's name in decades."

Bennett's expression changed, his face revealing a ferocious smile, completely different from before. Seeing Bennett rushing over, Jimmy quickly emptied the bullets in his left-hand revolver into Bennett's torso, let the revolver fall, and pulled out the dagger that Priest Rodney had given him from his waist.

Although the bullets didn't pierce Bennett, they slightly slowed his charge. By the time he reached Jimmy, Jimmy had exchanged his weapons, with the 1875 revolver in his left hand and the dagger in his right, gripped in an icepick hold posture, ready for him.

After encountering the two impervious people before, Jimmy had already been pondering how to deal with such foes, but without practice targets, he'd only been able to mentally simulate combat strategies. This time, it was finally time for some real practice.

Bennett charged at Jimmy, his movements wide and forceful, clearly relying on his strong power and super defense, not dodging at all, swinging a punch straight at Jimmy's head.

Jimmy's right-hand dagger parried upwards, slicing upward with the blade against Bennett's arm, while tilting his head aside, lifting the gun barrel with his left hand to aim at Bennett's chin and fire, then quickly lifting his left hand, using the revolver's grip to knock against Bennett's arm, sidestepping, and then with the right-hand dagger, stabbing fiercely at a white dot in his Heart Eye Vision.

This white dot was on Bennett's chest, and as the dagger thrust forward, Jimmy could feel significant resistance, but unlike cutting his arm, it felt like it pierced a bit, though no extra damage was inflicted when the dagger slid aside.

Bennett's moves weren't as swift as Jimmy's. While Bennett's strength surged, his sensitivity seemed to decline. As Jimmy unleashed his combo, Bennett only swung his fists twice; having been shot in the chin, his head jerked upward, disrupting his actions and preventing him from blocking Jimmy's dagger in time.
