The second chance of the uncrowned king - (Isekai)

Chap 109: Mysterious company.

"Aren't you rushing things a bit, little one? You're twelve years old and already at the Emerald rank, that's unheard of. And if we take into account that you have two pseudo Laws and a Law at your age and rank, that's something rarely seen in all of history." My grandmother's words made me hesitate a little. I like training and being strong, but the only downside is that I haven't really enjoyed teenage life in all its glory—only when Arisa or Sol are around.

She must have seen the confusion on my face, lost in thought, because she let out a sigh. "Maki, it's hard to obtain even a single pseudo Law." She looked straight into my eyes. "Many people who want to make quick money and retire try to reach Sapphire rank, but they fail because they never managed to acquire a pseudo Law due to lack of support or talent. And then there's you, wanting to learn two more when you already have three."

"I understand, Grandma. I really do." I looked up at the ceiling of the training room. "It's something that's stuck in my mind. I won't be able to get it out until I obtain it." I'm stubborn about certain things, and this is one of them—if I've set my mind to something, I'll achieve it one way or another.

She created a small mana ball that hit me right on the forehead. "I'd be worried about you if you weren't so mature for your age. Stubborn people die young if they're not careful." A smile formed on her face. "Let me explain the general concept of how to obtain a pseudo Law of space. Unfortunately, I was never able to evolve it into a Law due to various life circumstances."

The talk lasted several minutes, almost an hour, to more or less understand in words and actions what space is. The only downside to obtaining any of the supreme affinity pseudo Laws is that in the end, it all comes down to instinct—because you don't know whether you have the talent for that affinity or not.

Luckily for me, I know a bit about the topic of space. I'd dare say my knowledge surpasses my grandmother's a little. The education in my previous world was much better compared to this one, and going to university also helped. It's time to start gradually applying my knowledge to daily life until I find a clue.

The training session ended a few hours later—Grandma had left about two hours earlier. It was time to send a few letters. I had promised Sol I'd send one to let her know I arrived safely. I'll also take the opportunity to send letters to my two brothers, Arisa, and Marga.

According to my grandmother, there's a new group that's gaining quite a bit of fame by handling correspondence as they travel from city to city in search of dungeons. Their name is "Fef," which comes from the initials of its three founders and only members. They're all mid-Sapphire rank and should be close to reaching advanced rank by her estimates.

I walked through the city until I reached the carriage area. Most people who only visit the territory for a few days stay around this zone—it's very lively and busy. After a few minutes of searching, I finally spotted the large carriage with the company name written on both sides. It had two large wagons: one for them and small items, and the rear one for cargo. Two monsters resembling rhinos pulled it.

"Hello, my name is Maki. I want to send these letters to these destinations." I handed over a pouch containing all the letters and a sheet with the names and destinations clearly listed, so there would be no confusion.

"My name is Fai, pleased to meet you." He gave a small formal bow. I couldn't see his features because he wore a cloak with a hood, making it hard to read his expressions or movements. After calculating, he gave me the price—it seemed quite reasonable, so I paid him.

"Thank you very much for trusting our company, Fef. We'll make sure every letter reaches its destination. I hope we can do more business with you in the future." At that moment, two more people dressed in the same clothing arrived, both carrying plenty of supplies for what looked like a long journey.

"A new client?" one of the hooded figures said beside me. "My name is Echo, and my companion is Fs. Thanks for trusting us." I bowed slightly in return and said goodbye to them. They seemed like good people and looked strong—perhaps at Mains' level. I was only left wondering: Why is his name Fs? Must be a nickname.

Strolling through the city, I found some interesting food stalls and started tasting food on the go. It's one of my favorite pastimes—walking around town and sampling different street food.

As I wandered the city, I noticed a growing population. Clearly, more people are arriving in our territory. Gaining a new village and the rumors of a possible promotion in a few years has attracted many who want to build their lives here. According to my mother, being pioneers in a barony can lead to significant wealth, since the main territory—in our case, the Marquisate—provides strong support to emerging regions.

"Should I go to Mancor Village?" I wanted to visit and greet familiar faces. Maybe I'd run into someone and have a good time. Without thinking twice, I walked to Talar's exit, and once at a good distance, I injected mana into my legs and sprinted toward the other village.

From the entrance, I could already tell that Mancor's population had grown. The lines were longer to get in, but since I'm the Baronet's son, I can skip the formalities. Inside, I also noticed more people compared to my last visits. "Maybe I should visit the new village tomorrow…"

I asked a guard if he'd seen Rendo and Randy. According to one, both were guarding the grade 2 dungeon. "That's the dungeon where I stopped the stampede, right? If I remember correctly, it's this way." After a long walk, I reached the grade 2 dungeon. A massive watch post had been set up outside.

I chatted with them for almost an hour. Randy was still as optimistic as ever, and Rengo hadn't changed much—still quiet. I was happy to know they were both well and striving to grow stronger every day. According to them, there were shifts for diving into the dungeon to keep it under control.

The only issue was that it was grade 2—both of them were already Sapphire rank, and these dungeons didn't help them grow much. They didn't find many challenges in each visit. The only good thing was gathering monster materials and cores, which were a stable income source for them and our territory. Both were grateful to my family for the support we'd provided and wanted to serve our land in the best way possible.

"I hope a grade 3 dungeon appears nearby while I'm here." That thought crossed my mind as I returned to Mancor. It's the only way to quickly help our soldiers improve and bring a big injection of money to our land.

After asking around for Edd, I finally reached his house. Before visiting, I bought a cake—it's customary to bring one when visiting someone after a long time.

Edd and his wife nearly fell over in shock when they opened the door. After recovering from the surprise, they invited me in. His wife made delicious tea, and we chatted a bit. I left quickly because Edd still seemed quite stiff and awkward around me. I hope he gets used to seeing me—it's fun talking to both of them.

I returned to Talar after a productive visit, and with a full stomach, it was time for some exercise. I headed straight to my training room to burn off some of the food from both villages.

I started by training with just my swords, practicing fast and precise movements while dodging imaginary monster or human attacks. It was like a shadow exercise. After the first phase of training, I looked at my swords—they were in terrible shape. "I need to replace them again," I sighed in disappointment…

The only decent swords I've had were the bone ones my grandma gave me for my first tournament. I ended up destroying them during the ogre fights and lost one near the end. "I need to ask or find a way to get some good swords"—ones that can regenerate their edge automatically and are durable enough not to wear out for years.

"Time to practice the basics of magic." I began creating standard spheres. Right now, I can control almost two dozen without much trouble. I turned them into swords and then back into spheres—creating, shaping, and destroying them repeatedly.

I played with my mana to build many other things—chairs, tables, plates, cups, and more, anything that came to mind. At first, they were quite rustic, but they gradually improved and started looking less crude. I see it as a great way to practice my constructs, so I continued for several hours.

"Less than an hour until dinner." I checked my watch and realized the time. I could only practice a few more minutes before preparing for family dinner.

I kept playing with the spheres and swords—it had become a bit easier to construct them, at least their base versions. In time, I'll be able to build their best versions just as easily and control the same number. For now, my limit is eight at full power. Beyond that, it requires intense focus and gives me headaches. I'll only surpass that limit if absolutely necessary.

"Let's try injecting my new pseudo Law too." And right at that moment, I realized something… "Shit!" Things just got a bit more complicated. I hadn't considered this type of problem—I need to find a solution soon.

"My spheres are losing offensive power compared to my swords." My mind spun trying to find an answer. I gave up and left it for tomorrow's me to figure out.
