RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 95: PAYBACK

Anthony's breathing accelerated, and his face turned red from anger. But there was no time to think or get angry. He quickly performed multiple hand seals and a blue light arose in his hand. He quickly pointed it at his heart, going straight to his major meridian, sealing his soul power from circulating.

He performed another series of quick hand seals and pointed it at his core, making the slight golden aura surrounding him to disappear. He had successfully sealed his soul power inside his core to prevent it from leaking out till he found an antidote.

Anthony made another seal and pointed it at his double primordial veins. Although he didn't know what they were, he had noticed that they absorbed the bulk of the spiritual energy and qi which he absorbed went in there. Also, Lan Xuanyu chose to seal the huge torrents of destructive energy from the immortal fruits crashing like waves in his body, threatening to rip him apart, in that particular spot. It had the highest concentration of energy, and also the location where Lan Xuanyu sealed his energy. Within a few seconds of guiding the deep trove of energy in there, everything disappeared, showing that it was a very important storage and circulation path for qi and spiritual energy.

He also placed another seal on different points locking the energy he recently guided into his yin and yang primordial veins, alongside that of Lan Xuanyu. He performed another seal and pointed it to his head, protecting his mind and spiritual energy. After a while, he exhaled.

Anthony clenched and unclenched his fists, taking deep breaths to normalize his body functions. Getting angry would make the seal go haywire. So he was being careful to control his emotions to avoid receiving a backlash. He locked away ninety percent of his abilities to protect his cultivation, and prevent it from being dispersed by the spirit scattering powder. The energy remaining inside him were those already in circulation in his minor meridians and his raw physical strength.

Anthony looked at the man with a gaze filled with hate.

"You're truly ruthless and despicable. You will even do such a thing as disabling someone's cultivation. Congratulations, you have lost any respect I might have had for you."

The man chuckled and sneered at him.

"Respect, huh? Who needs your respect? Fear will do just fine. Live in fear and do what you ought to." He said and threw a bracelet at Anthony.

"As for this bracelet on your wrist, it's the bond slave clasp. With this bracelet on your wrist, if you try to escape, or leave the surroundings, the backlash will immediately kill you. Since I can't keep you tied up with the immortal suppression chains because you need to be mobile to do the chores, this will have to do just fine. It will seal your abilities and make sure you can't cultivate. Although I doubt you still have the ability. You were smart enough to seal your soul power away, but the spirit scattering powder is still in your bloodstream. Whenever you try to cultivate, it will crush your meridians, core and soul power. Even your spiritual sea won't be spared. Poor thing. The spirit scattering powder has an antidote of course, but can you find it on your own? With your current state, it's even more impossible for you to defeat me. So you can only remain here obediently. You better move along with your duties. Otherwise, I won't give you the routine antidote to keep you alive. Hahaha."

Anthony chuckled and kept quiet, watching the man leave. He got up and sighed, staring at the damaged woodshed. He could have easily done everything. But his abilities were currently sealed and he would have to do everything manually

Sweat was dripping down Anthony's body by the time he was done with his chores late in the evening. He had entered the surrounding forests, and sure enough, there were food crops in there. He had repaired the woodshed, cleaned it, fetched water and firewood, watered the animals, and washed the dirty old man's clothes.

The clothes were so smelly that he couldn't bear to pick them up with his hand. He had soaked it in a hot water and ash mixture, using natural cleaning agents to clean it. Afterwards, he had stomped it clean. He had to stomp it four times to make it passable, and rinse it three times. He had felt so disgusted that he would have thrown up assuming there was food in his belly. The clay pots and carved wooden plates were all dirty and abandoned for a long time. He had to soak them in hot water. At the moment he was busy making food, no time for distraction.

The only seasoning he found in the kitchen was salt and dried black pepper, nothing else. There was no oil to be found there, nor other spices. He had to scavenge for an hour before he stumbled upon a naturally growing garden and gathered materials to stock the kitchen.

Anthony looked around, making sure the old man was not coming around.

"Idiot, since you want me to be the housekeeper, don't blame me if I eat everything here." He muttered and drank up the bowl of milk he pressed from a cow.

"Mmm, the natural one tastes the best."

He looked at the bowl of chicken and potato pottage before him and smirked. It tasted nice and he kept the choice parts of meat for himself. Once he ate to his fill, he hid the remaining portions and carried the huge bowl containing the generous amount of serving he brought for the old man.

He had intentionally waited till nightfall to serve the dishes because the old man mentioned being hungry. That was the reason he did every other chore before he got round to cooking. Meanwhile, he had eaten a bunch of carrots from the basket of vegetables he foraged, soothing his stomach while leaving the man to starve. What's more? After serving the man's portion, he made sure to add a generous amount of pepper to his dish.

The old man was waiting at the pavilion located at the top of the hill. The area was rich in spiritual energy, so the man chose that spot as his cultivation area.

Anthony set down the bowl, alongside a jug of water and a clean cup.

"The food is ready."

The old man opened his eyes and sighed.

"It has been so long, what were you doing all day? My stomach is growling."

"I thought people of the god realm no longer feel hunger or have a need to eat. I have been busy all day. I just managed to finish cooking after working hard all day. Please enjoy." Anthony whispered with an expressionless face.

The old man sighed and picked up the wooden spoon.

"Um? What meat is this? Why does it look like chicken?" He asked with a frown, turning around the meat with the spoon.

Anthony grinned at him.

"It is chicken."

"Where did you find it?" The old man asked in a dangerously low voice.

"I saw chicken wandering around in a coot. I took one and used it to cook. Don't worry, I divided it into two and reserved the other half for tomorrow's dishes."

The moment Anthony finished speaking the man hit his hand against the floor in fury.

"I told you to hunt for meat. Why did you kill one of my chickens? Those are not ordinary chicken. They have been nourished with spiritual energy and have healing powers equivalent to a martial emperor rank herb. Why did you kill my precious spirit rooster?" The man roared.

"I know they had spiritual energy. The blood was a bit off. But given the lack of time I couldn't find another protein. There's no fish in the stream I saw. As for meat, I only saw rats. Besides, you destroyed my cultivation. How do you want me to hunt for spiritual beasts? I'm too weak for that. You should enjoy the ones before you. I suffered a lot before I found the sweet potatoes, onions, and carrots which I used to prepare it. It takes rare talent to be able to prepare food out of nothing. I truly suffered and scavenged everywhere, getting hurt in the process. Each spoon of broth is equivalent to my blood and sweat. Make sure you enjoy it, don't let it go to waste." Anthony replied and turned to leave.

The old man heaved and huffed in anger. He reached for the bowl of food and took a huge gulp of the broth to calm himself down. However, he began to cough the next instant. Sweat covered his face, and his nose also turned. Anthony immediately increased his speed, rushing down the mountain.

"An-tho-ny!" The man roared in fury, his voice reverberating around the hills.

"I already told you I don't know how to be a slave. Do enjoy. No need to thank me." Anthony whispered maliciously as he walked away with his shoulder held high.
