RISE OF THE MARTIAL GOD

Chapter 94: SPIRIT SCATTERING POWDER

Anthony clenched his fists, trying to digest the information he just received.

The man kicked him at that moment, jolting him out of his thoughts.

"If you're done dawdling, get up and cut some wood to repair the damaged woodshed. There should be some tools somewhere in the other shed, inside the horse ranch. Once you're done, clean up the place, unless you don't mind sleeping in there like that. Also, my clothes have been dirty for months, I no longer have a spare, you should come up to my hut and take the dirty clothes, wash them clean."

The old man's words immediately infuriated Anthony. He was still licking his wounds, trying to analyse their battle to realize what he did wrong and how to improve, and the shameless old man was already making a list of what he expected him to do. How bold!

The old man who had no idea about Anthony's thoughts immediately continued instructions. Or perhaps, he knew but couldn't care less.

"As for water, there's a spring down there, a well near the ranch area, and numerous streams in the forest. Just choose anyone you like to fetch water from. Feel free to go around and explore. You should find where things are to make your job easier, I can't remember most of the places I left the handy items. As for drinking water, you should fetch water from the spring, on the highest point that comes directly from the source and fill the gourd in my room. My room also needs cleaning. But the most important of all is food. You should go into the forest and find meat and wild potatoes to cook. There are fields casually planted by me close by, but the forests are filled with wild growing crops filled with abundant spiritual energy. I once stumbled upon an area with abundant onions, leeks, cabbage, garlic and spirit mushrooms, all brimming with energy. Although I can't remember which part of the surrounding forests I saw it in, you're still young and agile, I'm sure you will be able to find the place, or something similar. Get up and get to work immediately. It has been long since I had a slave to do all these things, making this place unkempt. But luckily, I have you now." The old man said with a smile on his face, looking quite satisfied with himself.

Anthony scoffed and looked at him.

"You're truly treating me as your slave, is that it? I'm sorry, old Fu, but I don't know how to do any of these things you mentioned. Being a slave is not something I know how to do. You will have to deal with your chores yourself. Or better still, continue as you have been doing, living filthy like a pig." Anthony whispered and sat cross legged to cultivate, hoping to heal his injuries and analyse their just ended battle to improve his insight.

"Hey kid, what are you still waiting for? Get up and start scavenging food." Huo Fu said, kicking Anthony where he was cultivating.

Anthony opened one eye and shot him a warning glare, and closed it back, returning to his cultivation.

"This kid, are you ignoring me? Did you think I brought you here to cultivate?' The old man asked in anger, but Anthony didn't give him any reply.

He kicked Anthony again, looking impatient.

"Hey you, I'm talking to you. Or are you itching for another beating?"

"I already told you that I do not know how to do any of those. Detaining me is useless, I'm not in the habit of cleaning up after others. I don't even know how to do anything at home. You truly got the wrong person this time." Anthony said calmly, and continued cultivating without opening his eyes.

"You, are you trying to be shameless? A man must always keep his word. This was our agreement, have you forgotten? Are you trying to play both sides?" The old man asked in a glacial voice.

"I already told you, I don't know how to do any of those things." Anthony growled through gritted teeth, his eyes spitting flames.

"Then learn it. Whether you like it or not you're already my slave, and I'm being merciful by not snapping you into a dog chain or branding you with a hot iron. Do you want me to do it?" The old man asked, his eyes narrowed and dangerous.

"You, what century are we living in that you think you can brand someone like that? Have you gone crazy from being holed up in here for too long? I don't know how to be anyone's slave, and I won't." Anthony shouted, his eyes blazing fires of defiance.

"Then you must learn. A man must always keep his words, you can't shamelessly go back on the agreement."

Anthony chuckled at the man's words.

"Shameless? Isn't that a word that describes you perfectly? You have no morality nor bottom line, you were willing to kidnap an injured person. Not just that, the person you kidnapped was someone less than a hundredth of your age, throwing weight around with your bigger size and higher cultivation. The fight was never fair to begin with, fighting a person who had only cultivated for one year while you have been doing so for centuries. Indeed, only someone as thick faced as you can do it. You want me to be your slave? Impossible!" Anthony roared, his voice echoing around the mountain.

The old man chuckled and nodded in exasperation.

"I see that you want to do this the hard way. Since I'm already shameless as you said, let me do something even more befitting of a scoundrel."

The moment Anthony heard this, he was immediately on guard, knowing that the old man was up to no good. A white powder landed on his face, making him sneeze. Anthony's eyes widened in shock and horror.

"What's this?" He whispered, touching his face.

The old man grinned at him and looked at him with a smug smile on his face.

"Spirit scattering powder. Do you like it? Oh, I remember now, you don't know what it is. Spirit scattering powder is an extremely destructive elixir to cultivators whom it comes in contact with. It can crack the primordial spirit and disperse your soul power, in essence, it will destroy your cultivation and meridians, turning you into a useless cripple. The cultivation that you're so proud of won't be there anymore. Welcome to the life of a mortal slave, enjoy your new fate." The old man whispered with a malicious smirk on his face, making Anthony's heart sink into his stomach.

"To destroy my cultivation…" Anthony whispered in horror, touching his nose which still had traces of the spirit scattering powder.
