Bounce, Bounce, Bounce, Thud!

The body of the dark forces leader thudded and bounced across the terrain before coming to a skidding halt, three metres away from the townspeople who were watching keenly. Seeing this, they all instinctively took a few steps back in fright as the man lay unmoving.

One hand was gone, replaced by a bleeding stump. Half his face was twisted from the smack of his own limb. Two teeth were missing as he lay there, his body twitching in pain while he reflected on the brutal exchange with the dragon.

'How can there be such a gap between us? What is going on? I'm terribly close to becoming a real demon. I just need to eat two more humans before I actually transform, so how is he toying with me like this? I thought he was just a new dragon, but it turns out he must have battled quite a number of demons and demon vessels.

Damn it, damn it! Will I die here? I want to become a bona fide demon! I want the whole world to fear me! I want the whole world to know the name of Clint! ARGHHHH! Screw this!' Clint roared inwardly as he rose up, staggering to his feet, slightly bloodied, lifting his head and sucking in a deep breath of air.

"All of you, including the Pincer gang, you all should attack the other dragon! Go all out! If any of you dare disobey me, I will kill you all, kill your families, and feast on you. ATTACK NOW!" Clint roared with all his might as he glared at the dozens of men in the distance.

Hearing the threat, the hundred members of the Pincer gang reluctantly moved forward, hands clutching their various weapons. The two demon vessels in their midst stirred.

One charged forward while the humans behind it moved along, while the second held up the rear. They all bolted for Max, who stood calmly, his body still dripping with blood, hands clutching the arm from Clint as he coldly stared ahead.

'In the meantime, I need to recover my energy and fully transform,' Clint thought in panic as he scanned the area. His eyes landed on the civilians watching the battle unfold from the distance. A sinister grin formed on his face as he closed his eyes, sensing the energy from them. At last, he could detect it.

The humans all had a minuscule essence. For him to fully transform, he normally needed to consume two humans with high essence. But because these civilians' essence was so weak, he would need to feast on four of them to finally evolve into a bona fide demon.

"Whatever!" he thundered, putting pressure on his feet. Like a bullet, he shot toward the half a hundred humans standing and watching in frozen horror.

When they heard the thudding and crashing sounds, they turned in panic, eyes widening in sheer terror. In the blink of an eye, the demon vessel appeared right in their midst, moving faster than they could react.

In one fluid motion, a human fell to the ground with a loud thud. The others screamed in horror as they spun around and scrambled away in pure, desperate fear.

'No, you aren't going anywhere.' Clint snarled inwardly as he jerked his head backwards and swung it forward, unleashing dark liquid from his mouth that splattered across the ankles of humans after humans, freezing their movements and sending them crashing to the ground.

He kept spitting the corrosive substance one after the other until about six humans, plus the one he had killed a moment ago, were down, writhing helplessly. The others managed to escape, running and screaming in sheer fright as they scrambled away like their lives depended on it.

Turning around, they realised Clint wasn't even interested in chasing them anymore. Still, none of them stopped running. They kept going until they were around seven metres away from the leader of the dark forces and roughly fourteen metres away from the main battlefield, which made it harder for them to see Max and Jim clearly from that distance.

But what Clint was doing was still perfectly visible, and their eyes widened in absolute horror as the truth dawned on them. Without wasting time, Clint crouched down and grabbed one of the immobilised humans by the head with his single hand.

"No, no, no, please let me go!" The human cried out, voice trembling with terror, but he was only met with a wide, sinister grin from Clint. The vessel opened his mouth, stretching his jaws far wider than any human should be able to, the sickening sound of bone shifting echoing faintly.

The next moment, his fangs elongated, sharp and predatory, and without hesitation he sank them into the human's face. The man's scream tore through the air, filled with pure pain and fear as tears streamed uncontrollably down his blood-soaked cheeks.

The other immobilised humans felt their hearts pounding all at once in terror. A collective dread surged through them and instinct took over.

Without wasting a second, they screamed and turned around, dragging their limp legs across the dirt as they crawled away with everything they had, desperate to escape the nightmare unfolding behind them.

In less than a minute, Clint was done with the human in his grip. He had eaten his fill, tearing through half of the man's limbs, heart, brain, eyes and organs with chunks of flesh missing everywhere. That was all he needed for it to count as consuming a human fully.

He stood up, and the bleeding stump where his arm had once been looked sealed off, as if the meal had sped up his recovery. Without hesitation, he bolted toward the escaping humans and fired more dark liquid at them, the burning substance tearing holes right through their hands and forcing agonised screams from their throats.

"I'm sorry, you all. I have no choice but to eat you and gain more power. Die knowing that you will aid me in defeating my enemies." Clint said, his tone cold and unfeeling, and without hesitation he got down to the next human and began chowing away like he was eating steak, chewing loudly as blood dripped down his chin.
