Hunter: Growing Stronger with the Light of the Moon!

Chapter 156: Earthquake in the Holy City

As soon as Jade finished speaking, several members of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association expressed strong disapproval.

"President, Ed has only been in the association for a short time. There are many things he doesn't understand, and he probably won't be able to manage the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association well."

"Yeah, Jade President, if you're not going to be the president, what will happen to us?"

Among those speaking were many former members of the Blackstone Team. After Jade became the president of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association, he naturally prioritized promoting those he was familiar with.

Jade believed that if he handed the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association over to Ed, it would surely improve, because in his eyes, Ed was the kind of Hunter who truly deserved the title.

Jade looked at the people who opposed him and firmly stated, "None of this is a problem. Ed can handle it. I believe in Ed!"

At that moment, Ed knocked on the door and said loudly, "President, I need to talk to you about something."

The atmosphere in the room instantly became silent. Jade opened the door, and his expression showed a hint of guilt. He was about to speak but was interrupted by Ed.

Ed directly said, "Here's the thing. I need to leave the association for a while. The vice president can have someone else take over my position for now."

Hearing Ed's words, Jade immediately panicked and said, "Leave the association? Ed, I was just thinking of making you the president, and now you suddenly want to leave?"

Ed briefly explained the situation regarding the Moonlit Frost Poisonous Mist inside him.

After hearing the whole story, Jade immediately responded with concern, "Here's what we'll do. I'll go to the Holy City with you, and we can put the association's matters on hold for now."

Ed shook his head and refused. He knew Jade was only trying to help, but there were so many Hunters at the association's entrance just now, wanting to join. He could imagine how many things would arise in the next few days.

After speaking for a while, Jade still firmly insisted that only Ed could take on the vice president role, and once Ed returned, he would handle everything and leave the president position for Ed.

Jade's attitude was resolute, and Ed could only reply, "We'll talk about it when I come back."

Finally, Ed went to find Toronto and Ford.

They had joined the Moonlight Hunter Team, and with Ed, the captain, about to leave for a while, it would certainly have a significant impact on them.

However, Toronto and Ford didn't say much. Toronto was silent, while Ford simply smiled and said,

"Captain, by the time we meet again, maybe you'll have become a legendary Hunter known by everyone. Don't forget about us when that happens."

Ed smiled. That might be a long time from now.

The next morning, Ed and Melissa had everything ready and began walking towards the gates of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association.

Strangely, there were very few members of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association along the way.

It wasn't until Ed and Melissa reached the gates that they realized that, at some point, many members of the association had already gathered there waiting for them.

Jade, Toronto, and Ford were there, their expressions tinged with a hint of sorrow as if they were bidding farewell.

Ed, holding his warhorse Lightning, slowly walked forward under their gazes.

As he stepped outside the gates of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association, he suddenly heard the sound of swords being drawn one after another.

Turning around, he saw the members of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association pulling their swords from their backs, one by one, to bid Ed farewell.

Ed smiled happily. He had come to Dorey City unnoticed, and now, as he was leaving, so many people were seeing him off. That was enough to make him feel truly grateful.

With that, Ed and Melissa slowly made their way towards the City Lord's Mansion.

At first, the streets were quiet, almost devoid of pedestrians. However, as they approached the area near the City Lord's Mansion, the number of people gradually increased.

Ed didn't think much of it. He assumed that the residents of Dorey City were simply coming to send off Finniel and her group.

It wasn't until they arrived at the gates of the City Lord's Mansion and met up with Finniel, Leon, and Eng that Ed realized these residents had been waiting there for quite some time.

Some of them had even come before the sun had fully risen, braving the risk of moonlight exposure to be there.

Eng directly said, "These people aren't here to see us off. They're here specifically for you."

Ed was stunned. Was the news of his departure with Finniel and the others already known so quickly by the residents of Dorey City?

However, the crowd gathered at the gates of the City Lord's Mansion wasn't very large—only about two or three hundred people. They didn't say anything but silently watched Ed, their eyes filled with gratitude and reluctance.

When Finniel got into the luxurious carriage, and the procession began to move towards Dorey City's city gates, these people didn't leave. Instead, they slowly followed along.

Ed, riding his warhorse Lightning, looked at the crowd behind him. The smile on his face never faded.

Soon, he realized that the two or three hundred people gathered at the City Lord's Mansion were just a small part. Even more people were already waiting along the road from the City Lord's Mansion to the city gates of Dorey City.

The once wide road was now barely wide enough for the carriages to pass through, with the remaining space filled with Dorey City residents standing and watching.

A resident couldn't help but shout, "Lord Ed Hunter, will you be coming back?"

"Thank you for everything you've done for Dorey City. We will always remember you!"

Ed helplessly answered, "I will be back."

Finniel, sitting in the carriage, watched this scene and couldn't help but say, "Eng, are there any Hunters like Ed in the Holy City?"

Eng, riding his warhorse, carefully looked at the surrounding Dorey City residents. He shook his head and replied, "Probably not. Ed is very special."

Finniel's gaze turned to Ed, and with a smile on her lips, she confidently said, "Yes, he really is special."

However, when Finniel saw Melissa beside Ed, her smile faded. A thoughtful expression appeared on her face, as if deep in thought.

The group continued to move slowly toward the city gates of Dorey City. As they reached the largest square in the city, they saw something strange.

In the center of the square, a large piece of black fabric covered something.

As Ed passed by, the residents of Dorey City quickly pulled off the black cloth.

A statue, about three or four meters high, suddenly appeared before everyone's eyes.

The statue resembled Ed exactly—holding a raised sword, with sharp eyes fixed ahead, as if watching a powerful enemy in the distance.

Ed froze in place, and his warhorse, Lightning, slowly came to a stop. The horse curiously glanced at the statue, then looked up at Ed, as though it was wondering why there was a larger version of Ed.

An elderly man squeezed through the crowd and approached Ed's side.

The old man looked at Ed, visibly excited, and said, "Lord Ed Hunter, this statue was crafted by the artisans of all Dorey City. It will stand here forever, honoring everything you have done!"

"Lord Ed, on behalf of all the residents of Dorey City, I sincerely thank you for everything!"

Ed stared at the statue for a long time. He never imagined such a thing would happen. When he had stopped the crisis in Dorey City, it wasn't because he wanted to be a so-called hero.

He did it to accomplish what he wanted, to kill the monsters he wanted to kill.

Ed kept this scene etched in his mind. The smile never left his face—it was a very unique experience, one he would remember for the rest of his life.

Holy City, a unique and beautiful city, was built amidst mountains, with its structures scattered in a picturesque manner.

At the highest peak, a magnificent palace stood, shining like a pearl, brilliant and dazzling.

Amelia Stewart, the ruler of Holy City, was in her room, reading the latest intelligence reports. Her tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed as she let out a sigh of relief.

She whispered to herself, "Finniel has made some progress. Once she returns with the Undead Crystal, we'll be able to make the seals below a bit more secure."

"Ah, the struggles of the Giant Hound Soth are becoming more and more obvious. Could something bad really be happening? Or is it sensing something?"

Amelia, around 1.8 meters tall and dressed in an elegant, expensive gown, was exhausted. As the ruler of Holy City, her daily work was numerous, and recently, the friction between the various factions within the city had intensified.

Thankfully, good news had come from Finniel's side.

Thinking about Finniel, a small smile appeared on Amelia's face, and the exhaustion faded a bit. Finniel had grown up under her care, and their bond was very close.

Just then, someone suddenly knocked on the door and spoke in a hurried tone,

"Lord Amelia, something's wrong, there's trouble below!"

Amelia jumped to her feet. "Below" naturally referred to the place where the seals beneath Holy City were located. She had just started to feel a bit of relief, and now something bad was happening again.

Without hesitation, Amelia quickly left the room and hurried to a specific part of the palace.

A few minutes later, the entire Holy City trembled violently, as if it had experienced an earthquake, leaving the residents frozen in place.

Some people scrambled to open spaces, while others casually shouted, "Why run? This is the third tremor this month. Nothing's going to happen!"

"Yeah, the tremor will fade soon enough."

Half an hour later, the shaking finally began to subside.
