Hunter: Growing Stronger with the Light of the Moon!

Chapter 118: Toronto You Should Believe Me

Upon hearing Ed's question just before his potential demise, the monstrous face of Reve twisted even further. His eyes reddened with fury as he glared at Ed and responded:

"Guilt? Why would I feel guilty?"

"I'm not helping Vil—he's helping me!"

"Everyone in Dorey City deserves to die! They all must die!"

"They deserve the punishment of death!"

Ed hadn't expected that Reve's goal, just like Vil's, was the entire population of Dorey City!

Vil wanted to sacrifice the people of Dorey City, but what about Reve? Why did he want to kill everyone in the city?

Just as Ed was about to speak, the enraged Reve launched a furious attack, like a violent storm, constantly making the golden Light of Guardian from the Guardian Scroll ripple with enormous waves.

The Guardian Scroll, which should have lasted for fifteen minutes, couldn't hold up against the monstrous attacks from Reve.

At this moment, Reve's power had clearly surpassed the level of a Silver-level Hunter, reaching the Gold level!

Ed felt that the Light of Guardian on him would only hold for another minute.

The power of the now-monster Reve was far stronger than that of a newly-minted Gold-level Hunter!

Ed focused on controlling his breathing, trying to delay as much time as possible. Jade, Melissa, and the others should have already been on their way by now.

He still had one more Guardian Scroll, and Reve wouldn't know that.

Reve continued to attack furiously, and Ed kept his eyes fixed on the Light of Guardian, the panic, fear, and despair on his face slowly fading. Instead, a calmness he'd never experienced before took over.

Just as the Light of Guardian was about to break, Ed began to channel the energy within him, preparing to use the Blue Fire Seal!

The timing was perfect—just as the Light of Guardian faded, a pale blue fire dragon surged from Ed's arm, where the Blue Fire Seal symbol was etched!

The raging flames instantly blocked Reve's vision, the intense heat causing the fur on Reve's body to catch fire, emitting a foul odor.

Seizing the opportunity, Ed didn't hesitate for a moment and quickly turned to retreat.

Every step he took was precise, the timing flawless. Not only had he disrupted Reve's attack, but he had also created some distance between them.

In this moment, there was no trace of the panic, fear, or despair from before—only a calmness so profound that only a true Hunter could have made such a calculated move!

As Ed was running, he pulled out the second Guardian Scroll that Melissa had given him. Additionally, he was listening carefully to the sounds behind him.

When faced with Reve's furious roar as he had transformed into a monster, Ed didn't immediately use the Guardian Scroll. He waited until his Hunter's senses alerted him that Reve's massive fist was about to land on him. Only then did Ed unhesitatingly use the scroll.

Golden light once again emerged, blocking Reve's attack that carried immense power.

At that moment, Reve's fist was less than ten centimeters away from Ed's forehead. If Ed had been even a fraction of a second later, his head would have exploded like a watermelon!

Any normal person would have had a violent reaction in such a situation or would have been paralyzed with fear.

But in Ed's eyes, there was almost no change in his expression. He simply raised his head slowly, looking at the monster that was Reve, and said with a smile:

"Well, I guess I'm lucky. Thankfully, Melissa gave me a second Guardian Scroll. Otherwise, I would have almost died here today."

"Deputy Leader Reve, you're finished. Everyone in the association will know you're a monster!"

Reve let out an enraged roar, unwilling to accept his fate, and continued to use his massive fists to relentlessly attack the Light of Guardian surrounding Ed.

Time slowly ticked by, and soon there were hurried footsteps in the distance.

Reve, with his sharp senses, saw that the Light of Guardian was still around Ed. He knew that if he just had a little more time, he could completely kill Ed, this troublesome person!

But it was already too late. Someone had spotted him and cried out loudly, "Monster! There's a monster here!"

In the next moment, Reve abandoned his attack on Ed. He turned and quickly fled toward a less populated area, leaving behind a low, muttered remark: "They saw the monster, not me!"

As Reve's figure disappeared into the night, the Light of Guardian around Ed quietly faded.

He calmly watched the direction where Reve had left, then softly replied, "I know."

Hearing the increasingly close footsteps and seeing the figures of Jade, Toronto, and Ford approaching, Ed didn't say anything. He took a few steps, bent down, and picked something up.

"Ed! Ed!"

"Captain, what happened?!"

"Captain Ed, where's the monster from earlier?"

Toronto, Jade, and Ford asked, all visibly worried.

Ed first glanced at the crowd, waved his hand at Melissa to signal that he wasn't injured, and then began answering the questions from Toronto, Jade, and Ford.

Ed smiled and said, "I just encountered a monster. It seems like it was Deputy Leader Reve who turned into it. He nearly killed me."

"Fortunately, I was lucky, or right now, you'd be looking at a corpse!"

Toronto, Jade, and Ford immediately exchanged puzzled glances. For them, wasn't the plan to go out on a mission? How could Reve have made a move, and why would he turn into a monster?

The confusion on Toronto's face quickly disappeared as if he had thought of something. His mouth dropped open, and he stared at Ed in disbelief.

Ed smiled at Toronto, winked, and gestured for him to keep quiet.

Toronto nodded vigorously. Ed's reaction confirmed that things were exactly as he thought. The shock in his heart was beyond words!

The other members of the Moon Eclipse Demon Hunter Association didn't believe a word of what Ed had said. Some of them kept saying:

"Impossible, someone just saw a three-meter-tall monster, covered in fur, looking like a gorilla. How could that be Deputy Leader Reve?"

"Yeah, Ed, are you hallucinating?"

"Exactly, Deputy Leader Reve can't be a monster!"

"Right, right! You must have seen it wrong, Ed!"

Faced with this, Ed had already anticipated the reactions, but he still had to repeat what he had said earlier—that Reve was a monster. His face held a firm expression, and his tone even carried a hint of anger, as though he was frustrated that no one believed him.

Just then, Reve's voice suddenly rang out, "What's going on? What monster? I think I just heard someone say I'm a monster?"

The crowd quickly parted, and Reve appeared on the scene, looking completely human with no trace of the monstrous features Ed had described. He even looked slightly tired and confused as he looked at Ed and asked:

"What's going on?"

Ed pointed at Reve and said with absolute conviction, "Really, I saw him turn into a monster, trying to kill me!"

"You all have to believe me!"

"Toronto, you should believe me, right?"

It seemed that because no one believed him, Ed turned his gaze to Toronto, hoping to gain his trust. But to Ed's surprise, Toronto, looking conflicted, responded:

"Captain Ed, have you been under too much stress lately? Could it be that you're hallucinating? Deputy Leader Reve is right here, and he doesn't look like a monster at all."

Hearing Toronto's words, Ed clenched his fists, glaring at Reve.

Reve's face twisted into a smile, almost as if mocking Ed, and he spoke directly, "Alright, someone's gone crazy in the middle of the night. What monster? You must have just seen it wrong."

"Ed, staying up late, causing a commotion here and stirring up trouble... You really should see a doctor. Maybe there's something wrong with your head!"

After saying that, Reve waved the crowd away as if nothing had happened and walked off without a care.

The others followed him, and the members of Blackstone Team stayed behind. Jade looked at Ed with concern, wanting to say something, but Toronto spoke up first:

"Sigh, let Captain Ed rest. He's probably just under too much stress."

"Don't worry, I'll take care of Captain Ed."

Jade looked at Toronto, who was blinking at him wildly, and suddenly realized that things weren't as simple as they seemed. He quickly responded, "Sigh, alright, I didn't expect this to happen. Even though Reve is despicable, he's definitely human. How could he turn into a monster?"

Then, Jade sighed a few more times while looking at Ed, clearly disappointed, before turning his back and leading the Blackstone Team members away.

Now, only Ed, Toronto, and Ford remained.

Ford wore a worried expression as he looked at Ed, unsure of what to do but trying to comfort him:

"Captain, it's alright. Don't stress so much. The three of us together... we'll definitely..."

Before Ford could finish his sentence, he felt Toronto slap him on the back, whispering:

"Enough, Captain's fine. Now, at least we've made some huge progress."

Ford's eyes widened, and he looked between Captain Ed and Toronto, his expression filled with confusion.

What exactly had happened?
