Nightmares Paradise [LITRPG System Integration]

Chapter 100 [Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus]

After obtaining both the [Mortal Ranked Rejuvenating Shirt] and [Mortal Ranked Renewing Pants], Jon had told Ashvattha Rana to remind him to change into his two spiritual items whenever he decided to go out hunting or foraging for food. Jon would not need to worry about damaging these two spiritual items considering the nature of the fragments that had been integrated into the two of them.

Fragments Of Regeneration and Fragments Of Renewal had similar connotations to one another, although the former allowed Jon to better resist environments with extreme heat or extreme cold, while the latter increased his natural recovery rate.

'I should endeavour to obtain more spiritual items. Although each one possesses a relatively weak effect, I should be able to stack the effects of close to a dozen different spiritual items if objects such as jewellery are considered a single item,' Jon nodded to himself, almost not noticing Ashvattha Rana gently prod his shoulder.

Tilting his head backwards, Jon noticed the bodhi tree shift her leaves and branches, an indication that the Earthen Treasury Womb had something to add.

"There are limitations placed on spiritual items, just as there are limitations placed on the number of fragments or Mana Cores that an individual can integrate. Regardless of one's Rank or Tier, a single individual can "equip" so to speak a maximum of six spiritual items."

'Anymore and the effects of one item would not apply itself. Even I do not know the reason as to why this is,' said Ashvattha Rana, causing Jon to furrow his brows inwardly, ever-so-slightly annoyed at that piece of information.

Tucking another loose strand of white-brown hair behind his ear, Jon dismissed his status page, reopening his task page and staring at the enormous number of different tasks reward just waiting to be claimed.

Tapping his finger against one of the roots Ashvattha Rana raised for him to use as an armrest, Jon hummed softly, glancing towards the sleeping figures of Avahni and Sariel near the fire. The bright orange flames which once illuminated this small section of the riverbank had long since started to fade, leaving nothing but a handful of dull-red pieces of charcoal.

'Six again? The System sure likes the number…'

Jon was unsure what was so special about the number six.

Six represented the greatest limitation the System had placed on individuals who could integrate Mana Cores and fragments, in addition to how many Title Fragments were required in order to construct a complete Title.

Not even Rana knew the reason for this.

Letting out a small sigh, Jon leaned with his back against his bodhi tree summon, scrolling through his remaining task rewards and selecting one with a gentle tap of his finger. It did not even take Jon a full minute to find the fragment that he was looking for, watching as it manifested itself with a pale-silver glow.

Fragment Of "Library" discovered!

Would you like to integrate this into your Spear Mana Core, War Mana Core, or Weave Mana Core?

Y/N

The small rectangular prism possessed the same colouration as paper that had been soaked with coffee. Just holding it in his fingers gave Jon the impression that it was not a gemstone that he was holding, but rather the smooth, pliable pages of an open book.

Holding the Fragment Of Library up to his Minerva-Sagacity Eyes, Jon could see almost microscopic letters and characters manifesting themselves within the coffee-stained fragment. The details of which were indecipherable but changing with every passing moment.

"Do you still plan on integrating it into your War Mana Core Jon?" Ashvattha Rana queried.

Jon nodded, selecting said Mana Core on the integration page notice.

Schwarz Eis had suggested to Jon to integrate a Fragment Of Library into his War Mana Core. Although given the chaotic nature of fragments and how abilities manifested differently from individual to individual, there was a chance that Jon would not receive an ability with effects that he desired.

What Jon desired more than anything else at the moment was a method of storing his belongings in some sort of pseudo-dimensional space. Although his backpack and duffel bag were fine for the time being, Jon knew that the number of fragments and Mana Cores that he would obtain over the rest of the System Introduction could grow to ten times the amount that he had currently.

A thousand fragments.

Over a hundred Mana Cores.

And that did not include odd pieces of flora that he picked up. The seeds of the White-Flower Dragon Fruit were one such item, in addition to Summer Daze Leaves which increased the natural healing factor of an individual.

The Fragment Of Library when integrated into his War Mana Core should provide some sort of storage ability.

At least according to Schwarz Eis it would.

It did not take more than about ninety seconds for the effect description to appear before Jon.

[Fragment Of Library] [Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus] (War, Library, Ability, Spell, Technique, Storage, Construct, Self)

Effect (Mortal): Chant, then sacrifice half of your available lifeforce and the entirety of your war natured spiritual energy to manifest the Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus. The Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus is a pseudo-independent dimensional-subspace tied to oneself.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

War natured spiritual energy is expended to transport items into the Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus as is war natured spiritual energy is expended to bring them out. The internal structure of the Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus can be transformed at the behest of the caster, although cannot exceed a maximum size of twenty square metres.

The caster may, for a greater mana expenditure enter the Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus. This will result in the caster reappearing in the exact spot where they entered the Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus. Upon running out of spiritual energy, lifeforce will be expended to support the dimensional-subspace.

Jon raised an eyebrow, reading the effect description of his Fragment Of Library.

"Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus… I know the naming conventions of most abilities are unique and often times quite abstract, but I think this might be the weirdest named ability I have in my repertoire…" Jon muttered to himself.

The effects of the [Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus] were quite simple. Expend lifeforce and war natured spiritual energy in order to manifest a pseudo-independent dimensional-subspace. Although Jon thought that the combination of a Fragment Of Library and a War Mana Core might produce some sort of strange additional effect, it seemed quite normal all things considered.

It did not possess the Buff Trait or Debuff Trait, which was perhaps the most common of Traits after the Spell, Technique, Enhancement and Ability Traits, but did possess something at least somewhat interesting.

'The only other ability I have that possesses the Self Trait is [Mine Is The Sea Of Knowledge]. I do not know what the System considers the "Self" considering that none of my Mutation Trait abilities possess the Self Trait as well.'

Jon repeated the effect description for the [Red Archives Of Mars Quirinus] out loud for Ashvattha Rana to hear. The Earthen Treasury Womb paused for several moments, before shaking her leaves and branches, causing Jon to raise an eyebrow.

"Jon. The fact that you can enter your dimensional-subspace while still being a Mortal is in of itself something astounding. A pseudo-independent construct which maintains a permanent connection with you is never a bad thing. In fact, it just gives your Red Archive an enormous amount of potential for someone still constrained by Mortality.'

'This is a powerful ability, especially for someone still a Mortal Jon.' Said Ashvattha Rana.

Jon showed an uncharacteristically surprised expression on his face, blinking several times while hearing Rana's words.

Although Jon did understand that dimensional-subspaces were a branch of technology that humanity had not yet begun to experiment with, the young man had already started to become accustomed to magical abilities that sprouted tree shields or enormous explosions of ice and cold.

Jon had experienced more things in the past three months than he had over the past two years back on Earth. He was no longer the same eighteen-year-old that walked off a tram in search of a place to live. He possessed superhuman strength and agility, with an endurance that would put world-class athletes to shame.

Preternatural instincts and intuition, in addition to several physiological and metaphysical changes to certain personal qualities and characteristics. The Fragment Of Heart which birthed his Seir-Glacial Heart and Fragment Of Prana which transformed his mortal lifeforce into Yaochi-Jade Prana just to name a few.

Manifesting a Spell which created a sub-dimensional storage space was not the weirdest thing that Jon had ever seen.

Even if the name was a little too over the top.

"I'll manifest the Red Archives when the others wake up tomorrow morning. Expending lifeforce should best be done with others around to protect me", Jon said to Rana.

The Earthen Treasury Womb agreed with his decision, watching as the young human once again opened up his task reward page, selecting another one of his optional tasks and allowing himself to claim the reward the System had given him.

"You plan on integrating another fragment Jon?" Ashvattha Rana was somewhat surprised at how eager Jon was to use his fragments of choice. With the opportunity to obtain eight more fragments of his choice, Jon did not hesitate to use another task reward in order to round out his Spear Mana Core.

This time, watching as a small violet-coloured diamond-shaped gemstone appeared within the palm of his hand.

Fragment Of "Superbia" discovered.

Would you like to integrate this into your Spear Mana Core or Weave Mana Core?

Y/N

Without hesitation, Jon selected his Spear Mana Core, watching as the sinful-violet Fragment Of Superbia melted into his flesh. Jon thought that he felt something emanate from within the gemstone in his hand, feeling it brush against up his Sea Of Knowledge.

He did not even need to control his mental construct, feeling the sensation swallowed up beneath the waves of his Fragment Of Mind.

'That was… kind of weird,' Jon thought to himself.

The brown-haired young man turned towards his bodhi tree companion, tilting his head to the side.

"Did you feel that just now?" Jon asked.

"Feel what Jon?" Rana responded, her tone somewhat curious.

Jon just replied with a small shake of his head, brushing the question off. Although his expression appeared unmoved from the strange emanations of the Fragment Of Superbia, Jon unconsciously lifted a hand and started reaching towards his chest, feeling the slow beat of his Seir-Glacial Heart within.

Although he could not feel anything strange within himself, Jon felt as though something had changed, perhaps unknowingly or inadvertently.

He almost did not even notice the System notification prompt in the corner of his vision. His eyes widening as he tapped the notice, reading the effect description of his newest ability.

[Fragment Of Superbia] [Helel] (Spear, Superbia, Mutation, Ability, Spell, Technique, Enhancement, Buff, Debuff, Self)

Effect (Mortal): Transform the mortal natures of ones pride into Helel-Testament Pride. The Helel-Testament Pride is a pseudo-spiritual stigmata containing within it the dualistic understandings of sin and virtue.

Chant, then suffuse your entire being with the heretical white divinity of an imperfect son. Gain an instance of [Light Bringer] temporarily transforming oneself into the form of an ideal being.

While under the influence of [Light Bringer] increases the effectiveness of all abilities with the Enhancement Trait. While under the influence of [Light Bringer] transform resistances into immunities. Once [Light Bringer] ends, transform oneself into the form of an [Mortal].

[Light Bringer]: Manifest golden lance constructs of spear natured spiritual energy capable of being launched as projectiles or wielded as a weapon.

[Mortal]: Reduces all physical enhancements to that of an uninitiated mortal. Transforms all resistances into vulnerabilities. [Mortal] lasts for a duration equal to double the amount of time [Light Bringer] was active.

Jon felt his mind freeze, reading the effect description of his Fragment Of Superbia.

Although the naming sense of the ability was something that took inspiration from theologies and mythologies back on Earth, Jon could not help but feel his gaze focused on a specific line from the effect description.

'An imperfect son…'
