Mage Legend

Chapter 709: Legends and the Legends in Legends Chapter Twenty-Six Confrontation

"Kuziman, do you have any objections to me becoming the Head of Mages?" Lynch stood before all the Great Mages, speaking calmly.

"Indeed." Kuziman stepped out from behind the others, holding the Great Mage's Wand, a symbol of status, in his hand, yet his fingers trembled on it—perhaps it was actually his heart that trembled incessantly. "You truly are the most accomplished among the younger generation, and among all the mages I've heard of, you are also the most talented. Because of you, we might need to redefine the meaning of the word 'genius.'"

"So what do you plan to do?" Lynch smiled at Kuziman, looking directly into his eyes. Facing him was a mage skilled in Evocation, the mage with the most diverse array of attack methods among all the Great Mages. Whether Element or force field, Kuziman had achieved mastery.

"What do you plan to do?" Lynch asked again, "Acknowledge my status and obediently hand over the power of the Great Mage's Wand to me? Because you know, there are many grievances between us to settle."

"Oh, Lynch." Kuziman smiled, a smile only old friends have when they meet, filled with tolerance and friendliness. "We are all smart people who can correctly assess the current situation. Let's not handle things like those barbarians from the Desolate Land. Do you believe in blood vengeance? Is an eye for an eye the only way? Throughout history, so many enemies have reconciled under a common goal. You and I, both capable of creating miracles that would be praised by future generations as Great Mages, can't we sit down and make peace quietly?"

"It's possible for us to reconcile, but not now." Lynch shook his head, his voice still calm. Even though he stood at the center of a vortex, he showed no signs of panic or nervousness. This was precisely why the other mages dared not act rashly. They wished for Kuziman to probe Lynch's depths first; none wanted to be the first to stand out.

Lynch continued, "When your master, when that world-threatening serpent no longer poses a threat to peace; when you lose all your mana and cannot betray your knowledge and wisdom to the enemy; when you choose to retire and willingly become an old man living in the countryside. Only then will there be peace between you and me."

"Ha ha, what a generous proposal this seems to be!" Kuziman laughed hysterically, his wand tapping on the ground. "Abandon everything so you can bask in my peace? Who do you think you are? A Great Mage? Lynch, you are nothing! Mastering a few advanced spells and you dare claim to be a Great Mage in front of us? You are not qualified; you are merely bluffing! Others call you a genius, and so you really believe you're omnipotent?"

"Your behavior now is like someone who knows his end is near, struggling despairingly with words before death. However, you got one thing right: I am nothing." Lynch swung his robe and pointed to the empty space outside the Great Magic Tower, gesturing "please." "Don't waste everyone else's time, let's begin now."

Kuziman looked at Lynch and then turned his eyes to the other Great Mages, scanning each of their faces. But he did not see any willingness to help in the eyes of his colleagues, nor did anyone want to stop the duel. Kuziman only saw many encouraging expressions. Lynch's mentor, Caso, even showed him a look of sympathy and pity, which made Kuziman extremely angry.

"You have no right to choose your grave!" Kuziman suddenly shouted, immediately summoning a blazing flame, charging at Lynch. In an instant, the Great Magic Tower was swept by the high temperature, and the heat ignited all the paper, curtains, and tablecloths. Even though the Great Mages immediately cast their Protection Magic, they were still blown helter-skelter in the tornado-like vortex.

Lynch was no better off; he was the focal point of the Spell. Before he could react, the Refined Gold left hand acted first, its powerful pull immediately throwing the mage outward, flying out of the Great Magic Tower's window. Lynch endured the pain in his shoulder, condensing the power of lightning in his hand, ready to counterattack Kuziman.
