Everyone gasped in shock. Could it be that Lynch decided to end the battle up close? Distance is a natural barrier for mages. As long as they have enough reaction time, mages can handle any situation. But once two mages are entangled at close range, they have no time to counter or retaliate against each other's spells. Other than instant reactions, experience becomes the deciding factor.
In terms of the complexity of spells, Kuziman has held the advantage so far, with a continuous barrage of evocation spells that no mage could foresee. However, Lynch's left hand seemed to possess immense power, capable of deflecting even the strongest Impact Punch, not to mention being directly struck by it.
The scene suddenly turned silent, with all sounds freezing in an instant. Kuziman's face turned deathly pale as his withered skin began to peel off layer by layer. He knew this was the moment that would decide the outcome, and he could no longer hold back.
The explosion and shattering sound pierced through the silence. The entire ground began to shake as a strong earthquake forced the young Great Mage to slow down unnaturally. The Mage Association's plaza split in two, with rubble flying everywhere as fiery magma erupted violently, soaring more than ten meters into the air. Amidst the hot smoke and chaos, Kuziman's voice penetrated everything, chanting a powerful Summoning Spell.
Sigel B•, being an evocation Great Mage, recognized this spell immediately and ordered everyone to leave the scene, advising the young apprentices to keep as far away as possible. The spell summoned a Death Abomination from the Abyss Purgatory, a mighty monster bred from the corpses of Balrog Flame Demons. It had no other consciousness but that of slaughter and absorbing the pain of the dying.
The figure of the Abomination hadn't yet appeared, when a pair of fiery red arms stretched out from beneath the ground. At the tip of each arm were ten twisted black claws that whistled through the air, immediately grasping Lynch rushing forward.
A Fireball exploded at the center of the claws, but they refused to let go. The Abomination pushed away the soil pressing on its head and stood up, screaming. At that moment, a terrifying atmosphere spread throughout the city as a grayish-black mist appeared beneath everyone's feet. The faint sound of wailing echoed in every resident's mind, making them shiver from this call from the Death World. The entire city fell silent, even the free wind was too afraid to move.
"Death Abomination, the thing in your hands is your reward!" Kuziman's shrill laughter was as hideous and grim as the monster he summoned. "He is so strong, enough to make you feast heartily!"
Another explosion appeared in the monster's palm, but the Abomination seemed unconcerned, instead letting out an excited "caw-caw" laughter. If the food lacked the ability to resist, it would lose its pleasure. The more struggle, the more strength it gave to the Abomination.
It carefully opened its fingers to see what exactly it held. The previously excited smile froze on its face, and the flames on its entire body suddenly increased in temperature. Like a Fireball on the brink of explosion, the Abomination's fury incinerated everything that could burn within a hundred meters radius around it into ashes.
Kuziman was also shocked, unable to believe his eyes. Nothing had ever escaped the Death Abomination's grasp, not even a god. But now, there was clearly nothing in those black hands. Only then did he feel truly afraid, looking around in panic. He knew that if he couldn't satisfy the Abomination's hunger, the spellcaster would become a snack for his own summoned monster.
But a more terrifying sound came from behind; Lynch silently appeared behind Kuziman, completely unscathed. Kuziman turned around, eyes wide open, all spell methods suddenly disappearing from his mind in his haste. Now his eyes could only reflect Lynch's victorious smile, not the light of wisdom. With a thud, Lynch's refined gold left arm pierced straight through Kuziman's chest.
"So you've turned into a lich after all." Lynch's black hair fluttered as his red robe fluttered dramatically in the fiery gale, like a victorious flag flying over the battlefield's ruins. His calm voice echoed in the ears of everyone present, "Kuziman, in the end, do you have any last words?"
