Urban Immortal Cultivation Supreme

Chapter 1051: I Must Go In

The current situation of the remaining edge region is truly awkward to the extreme. Although it temporarily appears to be very safe, in reality, it is teetering on the brink of destruction. If not for the standoff among several major powers outside, creating a vacuum zone, this tiny bullet-like area would have been destroyed long ago. If it weren't for the consideration that the edge is teeming with Superpower Users and talents, these forces wouldn't tolerate the existence of such a unique place. If we really talk about uniqueness, the Underground City would count as one too. But if you can't compete with others, no one would bother to mess with the Underground City unless they're tired of living.

In comparison, the edge region is a big soft persimmon, easily squashed by anyone powerful enough. However, this soft persimmon isn't so easily taken now.

The standoff outside has been going on for a long time, yet there is no movement. As long as no force breaks this deadlock first, the edge will remain safe. And if the edge is given a little more time, it can consolidate more strength and thus increase its cohesion. Everyone knows the edge lacks an effective organization. Even if there was an organization, it was merely formed under external pressures, maintaining only basic order without much executive power. If absolute control of the edge could be attained, then the majority of its power could be controlled.

Shu and his companions quietly hide within the edge, despite being watched, it's better than the life of constant hiding outside. Although they've long gotten used to fleeing for their lives, endlessly escaping day and night isn't a solution. Despite the rough conditions here, at least there's shelter from the wind and rain, and more importantly, there's basically no one here who can threaten their lives.

Despite being small in number, Shu's group is not to be underestimated in strength. Across the entire edge region, if they wished, Shu and his group could rise up and form another power to oppose the existing ones. But they haven't done so because they have no reason to. Shu and El are used to a carefree lifestyle, so why would they put chains on themselves? As for William and the others, they've just escaped the massive shackles of the Alliance and haven't even enjoyed a few days of peaceful freedom, so why would they imprison themselves again?

So, their group appears extremely well-behaved, spending time simply sleeping and understanding the current situation outside of meal times. For them, understanding the situation is crucial, as they need to judge whether this place is worth staying. If it's not, where should they go next? Although they seem to be living an easy life, there's not much peace in their hearts.

After settling down a bit, Shu and El began to worry about Yi Tian, far away in an unknown city within the Alliance. They imagine what reckless things Yi Tian might be up to alone in the city. Since breaking free from the Alliance's control, they've lost all news about Yi Tian.

"Are you treating Yi Tian like a child?" Cook criticized Shu and El's concern, seeing it as unwarranted. From his point of view, Yi Tian is an adult and surely has his own methods. Why are you two, so far away, worrying so much? If you're truly worried about Yi Tian's safety, you could rally a group to break into the Alliance and rescue him. But he dared not voice this, as saying so would likely get them wiped out by those monitoring them outside.

Cook's words elicited no response. Shu and El ignored him, continuing to ponder Yi Tian's whereabouts. They knew such worry was irrational, and this wasn't the first time, so they should have been accustomed to it. Yet, they acted like women worried for husbands away from home, a demeanor that baffled Cook.

Cook had no intention of delving into this matter, for Shu and El were merely acquaintances to him. As long as their actions didn't endanger them, he had no opinions even if Shu and El were intimately involved.

As the sky dimmed, Cook understood that tonight would be another calm one. Should this peace last longer, he'd be pleased. But he knew once night fell, people from the edge would approach, starting their inquiries and persuasion, a routine nightly activity.

The remaining edge dwellers, eager to preserve their sanctuary, began forming their own power. Yet, these people, accustomed to freedom, were unlikely to join a force. Besides, upon slipping into the edge, an invisible group had already formed. But it was merely superficial, capable of mobilizing only a small faction of Superpower Users.

Hence, people continuously visited the Superpower Users seeking refuge in the edge, hoping they'd join hands to build a better future. Of course, this is the flattering version, while a bolder one would be "Come on, let's conquer this world." However, those hiding here long lost the ambition to fight, or lacked affiliations to rely on. They wouldn't be swayed easily.

Shu's group was indifferent to this, so the persuasion attempts failed to convince them to join. They just sought a refuge.

On another night, as Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun flew towards the edge, they got stopped by the Dragon Team before making it in. Finding themselves at this temporary command center, their expressions were confused. Meanwhile, the child secretly tailing them slipped into the edge undetected. With his skills, no one could trace his presence.

Rushing into the chaotic edge, the child was unfazed by the chaos. He quietly passed through houses, perfectly concealing himself. Some with heightened senses merely felt a breeze and missed spotting the child.

As for Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun taken to the command center, they glared, seething at those opposite them. They came specifically to find Yi Tian, and hadn't even seen him before being brought here.

"What's this about?" They didn't care to be polite, especially in such moments. If Yi Tian slipped away again, where would they search for him?

"You can't enter the edge." The person coldly replied, slighted by Xiao Ruo's hostility.

This statement immediately struck Xiao Ruo and Long Feiyun's nerves, who've traveled so far only to be barred from entering. What kind of nonsense is this?

"What do you mean?" Xiao Ruo boiled with anger but held back from acting, wanting to hear the reason.

"To avoid triggering a large-scale battle, you'd better stay put. Any issues can wait until this situation resolves," the person coldly remarked, offering no real explanation.

"Whose decision is this?" Instinctively, Xiao Ruo sensed an order to prevent their entry.

"This result was negotiated by all powers." The indifferent reply left no room for further interpretation.

"But Yi Tian is inside the edge," Xiao Ruo shouted, clearly intent on arguing their case.

"I don't care about any Yi Tian or whatever. My job is ensuring no one enters the edge."

"I have to go in!"

"Are you defying orders?" The person roared, veins popping in anger, appearing as though he'd tear Xiao Ruo apart.
