Chapter 1033: Running Into an Acquaintance

The rain continued to fall incessantly, and within the rain curtain, no sound could be heard. The world was so quiet that only the sound of rain remained, and in that moment, the world was swallowed by the rain. The crimson blood flowing on the ground revealed what had happened, yet nobody dared to venture in to see the scene of carnage.

The rain was bitterly cold, as if the end of the world had come.

Those who arrived later were struck speechless upon witnessing the scene within the rain. Just a thought of the image they saw made them sick to their stomachs, let alone describing it to others. They only knew that the chaos was caused by one person, a person like a Demon, who was now causing havoc within the Alliance city, shrouded in a heavy aura of killing intent.

Yet now, they couldn't find any trace of the Demon. Those who came only saw the horrific aftermath, but not the perpetrator of it all. Yi Tian had long escaped to who knows where. A rampaging fiend who's lost its tracks is extremely dangerous.

While these people were still searching for Yi Tian's trail, the culprit behind all this chaos was already speeding towards the inner city of the Alliance at a breakneck pace, all alone, advancing unfalteringly with unchanged purpose. Though he was alone again, it didn't mean he was as solitary as before.

Racing forward, perhaps due to troop movements, Yi Tian encountered no trouble until he reached another city. This situation was undoubtedly beneficial for Yi Tian at this stage since his bodily injuries were real, and he had exhausted himself significantly in the last battle. If not for a profound change in his mindset, he wouldn't have been able to withstand such a situation.

This time of recuperation and travel improved Yi Tian's physical condition slightly; even his face, with only half remaining skin, began to resemble a human more, and most of his wounds healed. His control over his strength also returned to an excellent state. After two fierce battles, Yi Tian finally understood his own capabilities, and it was with this understanding that he dared to infiltrate the Alliance's inner city alone. To him, even if he couldn't find Bai Lian, retreating safely was no issue. In hindsight, Yi Tian's approach was still somewhat naive.

The Alliance is a colossal entity, and in such a place, it's only natural for hidden talents to abound. Even though the Twelve Palace represents the Alliance's frontline combat strength, it's not the peak strength; there are many within the Alliance surpassing the Twelve Palace, but these people generally prefer not to handle these matters, each hiding and working on various peculiarities.

Actually, Yi Tian's bloody massacre already alerted some of the reclusive old figures in the Alliance. However, before these elders could take action, the research facility had already sent people to snipe at Yi Tian. Though they temporarily didn't know Yi Tian's exact whereabouts, finding Yi Tian wasn't too difficult with the Alliance's boundless methods.

This time, the Alliance seemed again to use excessive force to catch a single person.

Focused entirely on finding Bai Lian, Yi Tian was oblivious to the Alliance's actions, and even if he knew, he wouldn't care. His confidence was swelling, and his killing intent was overwhelming. He was truly ready to kill gods if gods stood in his way, and kill Buddhas if Buddhas stood in his way. At this moment, he was lurking outside the city, observing the city's situation. Entering this city wasn't difficult for him, but he needed to do more than just infiltrate; he needed to find someone to understand the situation within the Alliance. This person couldn't be of a low rank, as those with low ranks knew nothing substantial, making questioning them futile.

However, the city's defenses were extremely strict, and entrance and exit were always questioned, not to mention anything else. Various instruments hovered constantly in the sky above, surveilling the surroundings. Although Yi Tian hadn't seen these machines before, he knew they weren't easy to deal with. Judging that night was falling, Yi Tian didn't rush into the city but continued observing from outside.

He hadn't anticipated that the Alliance would invest so heavily just to catch him, which was entirely unthinkable. But what did it matter if it was unthinkable? The Alliance was a vast entity, capable of enduring such expenditures. As for bypassing the city, Yi Tian dismissed the thought; he needed to catch someone to inquire about some matters.

Perhaps it was nearing nightfall; suddenly, the number of people at the checkpoint increased, seemingly time for a guard change. This was a critical moment; if he could find a gap to slip through, it would be ideal. So, Yi Tian focused intensely, holding his breath as he watched the checkpoint.

There were many people, yet they rotated in an orderly fashion, showing no signs of disorder. The changing of the guard was extremely brief, leaving no gaps. This was slightly surprising, indicating the elite caliber of those deployed by the Alliance. Just as the guard change concluded, Yi Tian seemed to catch sight of a familiar figure. Though it was just a fleeting glimpse, he knew that figure all too well.

"Bai Lian," he murmured as the last image lingered in his mind, having already spoken that unforgettable name. The person who fell into dire straits for him had now become part of the Alliance. Although Yi Tian was familiar with the Alliance's methods, he had never imagined that Bai Lian would succumb to them as well.

From that fleeting glimpse, Yi Tian only caught sight of the back of the figure, but he was certain that it was Bai Lian, without a doubt. In that instant, he almost leaped out. Yet reason, forged through long years of life-and-death experiences, kept him grounded, though his eyes remained fixed on that checkpoint, hoping to see that familiar figure once more.

How many years had passed? Yi Tian himself had lost track of the years, but no matter how many had passed, his concern for her never wavered, and it was this concern that kept him alive until now. Yet after all these years, seeing her again meant she had become an enemy.

Suddenly, Yi Tian felt the sky above his head brightened slightly. A gentle, almost imperceptible smile appeared on his terrifying face. As long as she's alive.

Finally, as night fell, Yi Tian couldn't hold back, emerging from his hiding spot to approach the city. Even at night, the city inside was brightly lit, as if it were daytime. While he was in the outskirts, the lights from the checkpoint and patrol machines were still visible. Yi Tian stealthily made his way toward the city.

Of course, he wasn't foolish enough to charge the checkpoint directly, so he naturally searched for places he could break through. Although he had seen Bai Lian's figure during the day, after some reflection over time, Yi Tian no longer felt the initial blind excitement. He pondered if that truly was Bai Lian.

The entire world was aware of the Alliance's methods. With the Alliance's power, finding someone with an 80-90% resemblance to Bai Lian was no trouble, and if all else failed, cloning someone so wasn't difficult either. Yi Tian had indeed considered these possibilities, but he chose to believe that the Bai Lian he encountered was the one he knew. Because if he considered that this Bai Lian was a clone or an imposter, his reason for persisting all along would vanish. This could be seen as Yi Tian's subconscious creating an illusion to protect himself.

He easily entered the city, finding himself on a bustling street. Unlike the heavy inspections outside, soldiers weren't patrolling the city, though there were some hidden sentries, and small patrol machines periodically flew above.
