Chapter 1014: You Must Die

Unexpectedly, this time Mr. Rui didn't even clash head-on with him. He nimbly took a step back, slightly turning his body; the blade engulfed in flames sliced down just five centimeters away from his nose. He could clearly feel the power of the flames attached to the blade. Immediately, he swayed his body, closing in on Doro, lowered his shoulder, and collided with Doro's chest.

With a dull thud, Doro grunted and was knocked back several steps. From start to finish, Mr. Rui forced the advancing Doro to retreat without even using his supernatural abilities. He flipped the dagger in his hand; a piece of torn cloth was hanging on its bright edge. With a flick of his hand, he threw the piece of cloth off the dagger's edge and coldly looked at Doro.

"You haven't made any progress at all." Mr. Rui spoke in a very deep voice, so deep it carried an almost deathly aura.

Dabbing at a cut on his abdomen, a fierce glint flashed in Doro's eyes. He spoke in a sinister tone: "Progress? If you truly want to see it, you'll have to exchange it with your life." He hadn't expected Mr. Rui to be even more troublesome than before. But he wasn't worried; just now, he was too careless or else Mr. Rui wouldn't have had the chance to exploit it.

"I'm right here; come if you have the guts." Mr. Rui's expression remained calm, but the dagger in his hand shimmered with a chilling light. He was like a hunting beast, just waiting for the best moment to deliver the fiercest strike and completely snuff out the opponent's vitality.

"Don't worry; I won't kill you. I'll make you kneel and beg me, just like you did to me back then." Doro's face darkened as he tightened his grip on the knife, sensing a dangerous aura. The current Mr. Rui seemed very much like the Mr. Rui from back then.

"Oh. Are you really capable of that?" Mr. Rui lifted his eyelids, "Then bring it on." He shook the dagger in his hand, signaling Doro to show his skills.

Doro was not willing to waste more words; his body flickered and he once again mysteriously appeared in front of Mr. Rui. Compared to the previous straightforward momentum, now Doro had undergone a significant change in his attacks, no longer recklessly ferocious with no reservation, but leaving more room for maneuver. His every strike targeted Mr. Rui's blind spots, and each blow was extremely vicious.

The blades sliced through the air swiftly and malevolently; the flames attached to Doro's knife were restrained to the blade, only erupting upon contact with Mr. Rui's dagger. The force from this eruption compelled Mr. Rui to step back several times.

With a burst of hearty laughter, Doro relentlessly pressed forward, chopping down repeatedly; his strength seemed inexhaustible, or perhaps he was so enraged by Mr. Rui that he forgot to conserve his strength altogether.

"You have indeed improved a little." After several exchanges, Mr. Rui finally spoke, "Unfortunately, you are still not my match." His face showed no change in expression; even when uttering such words, his demeanor remained unchanged, as though he was talking about someone else's matter.

"You should not have come back." Mr. Rui sighed, brandishing the dagger in his hand. This time, he no longer chose to defend but initiated a counterattack.

Every move he made was incredibly simple, with no unnecessary flourish; each was executed precisely with effective simplicity, targeting Doro's vital points. Up to now, he still hadn't used his supernatural abilities.

In a state of utter disarray, Doro could only be described as such. When Mr. Rui adopted defensive measures, Doro could still force Mr. Rui to retreat continuously, but now that Mr. Rui switched to offense, Doro immediately found himself struggling. Mr. Rui's attacks were exceptionally tricky, and even though Doro was prepared, he couldn't parry all of them.

In just a short moment, several new wounds appeared on Doro's body. These weren't deep, but the bright red blood flowing from them was alarming to the eye. In contrast, Mr. Rui showed no other changes besides some creases in his clothes from the exertion, not even his breath was disturbed from the exertion.

The sinister glint in Doro's eyes grew heavier, yet so did the number of wounds on his body. Though these minor injuries didn't hinder his movements, they instead stirred his ferocity. He couldn't accept that after all his cultivation, he still couldn't defeat Mr. Rui. The thought of having endured so much for nothing but failure made the anger in Doro's heart blaze even more fiercely.

A low growl emitted from his throat as he ignored the incoming stab from Mr. Rui, directly raising his knife to slash at Mr. Rui's head. This slash was straightforward, its target clear and carried a resolute vibe. Originally thinking his opponent was finished, Mr. Rui was startled by this strike, hurriedly retracting his own attack while urgently moving back. However, he was still a step too slow, hearing the sound of fabric ripping, followed by a faint mist of blood appearing under the bright white light.

Mr. Rui's chest fabric was sliced open by Doro's blade tip, leaving a shallow cut on his chest from which blood was gently oozing. Fortunately, Mr. Rui reacted quickly and withdrew in time, otherwise, had he insisted on stabbing Doro, he would have been chopped in half by now. Dipping his left hand with the blood from his chest and bringing it to his mouth to lick, Mr. Rui had a peculiar smile on his face, saying: "Excellent, I didn't expect you to actually wound me." While speaking, a red light flashed in his eyes, like flames burning in them.

Doro, who had seemed nearly frenzied earlier, now wore a grave expression. He hadn't expected his reckless, fearless strike to actually wound Mr. Rui, but this also meant that Mr. Rui's more ferocious attacks were imminent.

Mr. Rui was extremely fond of his own body. In earlier years, he frequently fought in battles, where scarring was inevitable, yet Mr. Rui bore no scars. It wasn't that he was never injured; instead, he would spend considerable money to have any scars removed. Even with today's medical advancements, scar removal isn't cheap. Owing to his consistent care of his skin, his complexion appeared as fine as the best jade, earning him the nickname 'Mr. Jade.'

Everyone knew harming Mr. Rui's body would result in being torn to pieces; it's how he dealt with enemies and vented his anger. Now that Doro had left a long cut on his chest, Mr. Rui was certainly about to go berserk.

Not daring any neglect, Doro hastened the circulation of energy within his body, layers of flame began to engulf him, offering protection. At this moment, he resembled someone thrown into a fiery furnace. He fixed his stare on Mr. Rui, fearing to miss a single move. If that earlier strike had slain Mr. Rui, he wouldn't be in such a bind. Alas, in this world, there's no 'if.'

Mr. Rui's body trembled slightly, the red light in his eyes growing stronger; he could no longer suppress the anger in his heart. It had been years since he was wounded, not even in the most injury-prone hand. Yet now, this hideous former defeated opponent wounded him, filling Mr. Rui with an unprecedented sense of shame.

With a sudden whoosh, flames erupted uncontrollably in his furious state, consuming everything, including Mr. Rui's clothing, leaving him completely naked. If not for the flames concealing him, he'd be utterly exposed. The red glow in his eyes ignited into blazing flames as the dagger in Mr. Rui's grip melted into a puddle of molten iron that hissed as it hit the ground, vaporizing instantaneously.

"You must die!"
