Xia Liang glanced at the rear seat and saw the cushion was soaked red with fresh blood. It continued to seep downward, the rhythmic dripping echoing in their ears while the metallic scent of iron filled their noses. Witnessing this, the female anchor simply froze.
Xia Liang could tell at a glance that the pregnant woman was hemorrhaging, and the situation was critical.
He hurriedly said to Lin Wan, "Your sister-in-law is bleeding heavily, and the baby is in an abnormal transverse lie, which is extremely dangerous. On top of that, we're more than ten kilometers from the nearest hospital. We simply can't make it in time."
He then looked at the pregnant woman and added, "Her water has already broken. If the baby isn't delivered in the next ten minutes, it will die from oxygen deprivation. At that point, neither the mother nor the child can be saved."
"Ah! What do we do?" Lin Wan burst into tears, looking up at Xia Liang, completely at a loss.
Xia Liang thought for a moment before clenching his teeth. "Don't panic. Let me ask you, do you trust me? If you do, I will deliver the baby for her right now." He tried to comfort Lin Wan, who could do nothing but sob.
"Give me a break," the anchor sneered, as if she'd heard the most unbelievable joke. "You're just some lousy taxi driver playing doctor? Are you out of your mind? You're so full of yourself, it's hilarious. I told you not to get involved, and now you've got this mess on your hands. I'll just sit back and watch you crash and burn."
Xia Liang had no time to spare for the selfish, materialistic woman.
Clutching at this last straw, Lin Wan cried, "What should I do? What do I need to do?"
"Are you stupid?" the anchor retorted. "He's just a driver. What does he know about delivering a baby? You're really going to hand your sister-in-law over to a stranger—a man, no less? Sounds to me like you can't wait for her to die."
The anchor's words terrified Lin Wan, who truly felt she had no options left. This was exactly what the anchor wanted. She watched mockingly from the side, relishing the escalating drama.
Xia Liang glanced from the sobbing Lin Wan and then glared at the female anchor. That single look was enough to make her fall silent, not daring to utter another word.
Just as Xia Liang was about to comfort Lin Wan again, another voice spoke.
"Xiao Wan, listen to him. He can save us."
The pregnant woman had regained consciousness. She was an OB/GYN nurse and, despite fading in and out, had overheard their conversation. The young driver had correctly diagnosed her condition with just a few glances. Looking at her crying sister-in-law and the heavily made-up, indifferent woman beside her, she knew she had no choice but to trust this young man.
She then said to her sister-in-law, "Xiao Wan, open your phone's camera and record a statement for me. No matter what happens to me or the child, this young man is not at fault. I will take full responsibility for all consequences."
Lin Wan did as she was told, her hands trembling as she pulled out her phone and started recording.
Once the video was made, the pregnant woman turned to Xia Liang. "I'm so sorry to have troubled you today, young man. But I have to beg you, even if there's only a sliver of hope, please, you must save my child. I'm begging you."
"Don't worry," Xia Liang said, his voice firm. "I promise, both you and the child will be fine."
Moved by the pregnant woman's plea, Xia Liang spent 40 Work Points to redeem the God-level Medical Skill from the system's store.
"Hahaha, are you all trying to kill me with laughter? You're actually letting a man deliver a baby! Still, this involves personal privacy, so I won't be live-streaming it for you all." The female anchor spoke with cold sarcasm, then picked up her phone and pointed the camera at herself.
However, not everyone found the situation as amusing as she did. She watched, completely bewildered, as her screen flooded with comments condemning her.
"What is this anchor doing? She's absolutely heartless."
"Oh my God, I used to think she was a decent person from her streams. I guess you really can't judge a book by its cover. I'm unfollowing her right now."
"This anchor is terrifying. Does she have no humanity? We have to boycott her."
"How can scum like this be an anchor? What is wrong with this world?"
...
She was completely rattled, yet she still didn't think she'd done anything wrong. She shouted back at her stream, "Who among you would want a man delivering your baby, huh? This is ridiculous! Besides, this guy isn't even a doctor. For all we know, he's some perverted serial killer!"
Then, an idea sparked in her mind. "That's it! He *is* a murderer! He's going to kill this pregnant woman and her baby! I have to call the police and get him arrested!"
She leaned into her phone's camera. "See, everyone? This man is a murderer! He's about to kill this mother and her child!"
Listening to her, Xia Liang had the overwhelming urge to kick the anchor out of his car, but there was no time to waste.
The female anchor shot Xia Liang a triumphant glance, her smug expression clearly reveling in his inability to do anything to her. She then turned back to her live stream, her face a mask of self-righteousness as she prepared to slander him further.
"Does someone like that even deserve to live?"
"How can a person like her be an anchor? Is it because of a sugar daddy behind the scenes?"
"My God, this anchor's values are completely warped."
...
"What the hell are you all babbling about?" The anchor's expression soured instantly as she read the live comments. She pointed a finger at Xia Liang and shrieked at her stream, "It's *him*! A man delivering a baby is a total violation of ethics! Why are you all coming after *me* instead of blaming *him*?"
"Wow, this anchor is truly devoid of humanity."
