I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan

Chapter 318: Take him away_2

"Ma'am, I'm begging you, my sister-in-law is about to faint! My brother went to work, and my mom went grocery shopping. I'm all alone at home, and I don't know what to do. Please, take us to the hospital. We'll pay for the ride, whatever it costs."

Seeing the Anchor's reluctance, the woman was on the verge of tears. The moment she finished speaking, she looked at Xia Liang with wet, pleading eyes.

Xia Liang watched the young, beautiful woman, who was desperate to help the pregnant woman into the car but hesitated because of the Anchor's words, growing more agitated by the second. He was about to speak when the crowd of onlookers interrupted him.

"That's right, give them a hand! The pregnant woman's water broke."

"Yeah, come on, it's two lives at stake! Help them out, you're not in a hurry."

During the brief exchange, a crowd had gathered, drawn by the commotion. Hearing the onlookers' comments and seeing the attractive woman—more attractive than her—looking expectantly at Xia Liang, the already infuriated Anchor became even angrier. Her face twisted into a furious grimace.

But she didn't stop to consider that she was just a hitchhiker. It was Xia Liang's car, so who else were they supposed to look at but him?

"Not taking you means not taking you! Are you deaf?" she yelled at the woman, then rounded on Xia Liang. "Are you going to drive or not? Are you waiting for me to file a complaint against you?"

Xia Liang couldn't care less about her. He'd been annoyed with the Anchor for the entire trip. She kept trying to flirt with him, not even stopping to look in a mirror and see if she was in his league.

With that thought, he squatted down next to the pregnant woman to take her pulse. Just then, she couldn't hold on any longer and passed out.

"Sister-in-law! What's wrong? Don't scare me!"

At this, the young, beautiful woman burst into tears.

"Stop crying. Hurry and get in the car; I'll take you to the hospital," Xia Liang said, preparing to lift the pregnant woman.

The young woman, no longer bothering to wipe her tears, helped Xia Liang support her sister-in-law, thanking him profusely through her sobs.

"Not a chance. I'm telling you, I'm the passenger in this car, and he has to drop me at my destination before taking anyone else. If you want a ride, you can wait for him to drop me off and come back for you."

The Anchor, unable to stand seeing the Xia Liang she couldn't sway turn to help a woman more beautiful than herself, crossed her arms and haughtily blocked their path.

"Can't I just give you money? How much do you want? I'll give you anything! I'm begging you, please save my sister-in-law!" the young woman cried, her composure completely shattering.

She knew what would happen to her sister-in-law and the baby if they missed this ride. At that thought, she actually started to kneel before the Anchor.

Xia Liang quickly pulled her up. He was thoroughly furious now. His gaze fell coldly on the Anchor.

"I am going to save her," he said. "Say one more word, and see if I don't throw you out of this car. Do you have any idea how much I've put up with you on this trip?"

Seeing the look in Xia Liang's eyes and hearing his words, the Anchor felt a chill despite the summer heat. She didn't dare say another word and sulkily shut her mouth.

Once she was quiet, Xia Liang immediately lifted the unconscious pregnant woman into the car. The young, beautiful woman followed close behind, holding her sister-in-law and thanking Xia Liang nonstop.

Xia Liang smiled, hoping to ease her anxiety. "What's your name?"

"I... I'm Lin Wan," the woman replied, cradling her sister-in-law.

"Then I'll call you Xiao Wan."

With that, Xia Liang sped off, the car shooting forward like an arrow from a bow.

"That's fine. My family calls me that, too," she replied. Hearing Xia Liang's voice, she gradually began to relax.

Listening to their conversation from the passenger seat, the Anchor grew resentful again. The pregnant woman's water had already broken when she got in, and now the car was not only getting dirty but also filled with an unpleasant smell.

If she hadn't been intimidated by Xia Liang's earlier glare, she would have already voiced her disgust. Even so, it didn't stop her from shooting disdainful looks at the pregnant woman and pinching her nose.

Xia Liang saw the Anchor's pretentious act and had no desire to engage with her. As long as she kept her mouth shut, he would be thankful.

However, the Anchor grew even more displeased when she saw Xia Liang ignoring her to strike up a conversation with Lin Wan.

But she knew Xia Liang meant what he'd said earlier, so she didn't dare go too far, terrified he might actually dump her here. She knew how hard it was to get a ride on this road and had no desire to wait for ages again. She had an idea. Since she didn't have the guts to provoke them openly, there was nothing stopping her from taking veiled shots at them while chatting with her fans.

With that thought, she excitedly pulled out her phone again.

Just as she was about to dramatize the recent events and complain to her fans, she was hit by a torrent of abuse in her live stream's chat. The Anchor hadn't ended the stream earlier, and while the viewers couldn't see what was happening, they had heard enough to understand the situation.

"How could you be this kind of Anchor? I completely misjudged you."

"You're still calling her an 'Anchor'? Does she deserve that title?"

"That handsome driver is one thing, but he also has such a strong sense of justice! I love it!"

Seeing the chat filled with comments calling her selfish and cynical while praising Xia Liang for being good-looking and kind-hearted, the Anchor trembled with rage.

All these fans she had worked so hard to cultivate by building a fake persona, all the money she had painstakingly earned, all the wealthy benefactors she had finally managed to snag... It felt like today's incident was going to wipe it all away.

She was panicking and was about to open her mouth to defend herself.

Just then, she saw that her viewer count had surpassed 300,000.

She was stunned. Her personal record was just over 100,000, and today's numbers were more than triple that.

She had assumed her fan count would plummet because of her behavior, but seeing the new numbers, she started to think that maybe being sharp-tongued and materialistic wasn't so bad. After all, she had maintained her pretentious facade for so long with barely any growth. Now, after accidentally revealing her true colors, her viewership had soared.

Inflated by the surge in viewers, the Anchor retorted into her phone, "What do you all know? This driver is just putting on a show of kindness because he sees I'm live-streaming. Do you really think he's some great person?"

Xia Liang kept driving, ignoring her completely. Lin Wan was too busy taking care of her sister-in-law to pay any attention.

"What is wrong with this Anchor? She has zero integrity."

"I really can't stand this Anchor."

"Saving a life is saving a life. Even if his motives aren't pure, it's a thousand times more noble than your indifference and mockery."

"Heh, he's just putting on a show. He only let them in the car because he saw the girl was pretty."

The Anchor felt a flicker of unease as she read the screen full of condemning comments.

But when she saw the view count was still climbing, she became smug again. The more viewers, the more money she would make. The thought alone made her happy.

Then, she unbuckled her seatbelt, pointed her phone's camera at the two people in the back seat, and said to her audience, "Look, it's these two. Do they look like they need saving? They're just trying to bum a free ride."

"Ah! What are you doing?!" Lin Wan cried out, instinctively trying to cover her and her sister-in-law's faces, completely flustered.

BANG!

Seeing the Anchor's utterly insane behavior, Xia Liang slammed on the brakes, stopping the car at the side of the road.

"Ouch, my head! Are you crazy? Do you even know how to drive?" The Anchor, who had nearly been thrown from her seat, clutched her head while fumbling around for her dropped phone.

Xia Liang had had enough. He was about to kick her out of the car.

"Ah! Blood! She's bleeding! There's so much blood!"

Lin Wan's panicked cry cut through the air, halting Xia Liang in his tracks.
