The Reborn Demon King Girl

Chapter 34: The Two People's Teacher

There was a small wooden cabin at the entrance of the vineyard, which Doro called his "workshop" according to Mohe. He could arrange it as he liked, and aside from the rooms inside the mansion, this was where he worked.

There was a small window that, when opened, allowed a view of the outside. If any unlawful intruder approached, Doro needed to fulfill his duty as a "protector."

Compared to the rooms inside the mansion, Doro preferred this small wooden cabin.

In this cabin, he set up a stove for roasting meat, grilling fish, brewing tea, and staying warm—besides, he seldom encountered Mohe here, someone he didn't wish to have excessive contact with.

Lisidorwei had been called by Mohe to act as a secretary, or rather, a steward, and Rose enjoyed visiting this cabin even though she was technically a "maid." Both she and Doro held the status of "servants" in the mansion.

Although neither of them was particularly content with this, since they were both working for the Demon King, there wasn't much to say.

"Doro, it's so cozy here~" Rose lay on the small wooden bed Doro had prepared for her, lazily stretching her body, revealing her graceful curves.

Doro, sitting on a small wooden stool, was warming wine by the stove.

"Aren't you supposed to be preparing tea or something for them? Is it really okay for you to slack off here with me?"

"My task is to seduce you, to make you interested in my body and then do such things. Being a maid is just for show," Rose openly revealed the task Mohe had given her, "but charm doesn't work on you, right?"

Doro was a person with an extremely strong will; the powers of a Charming Demon like Rose were useless against him. Of course, everyone has their weaknesses, just like Bai Lushi's was faith in God. Doro himself had his own vulnerabilities.

However, Rose had no intention of fulfilling the Demon King's mission obediently.

"I heard from the Demon King that when you fought Charlette, you tore off her two arms?"

Doro glanced at his bed, "Why did she tell you that?"

"She said it was because both you and I like Charlette, so she planned to turn her two arms into alchemy items called God's Left and Right Hand and give one to each of us."

"...She really has a twisted sense of humor!"

Doro couldn't help but retort.

Rose agreed, "Who wouldn't think so? Do you want the left hand or the right hand?"

"Did she mention what effects these arms would have after being turned into alchemy items?"

"No."

Doro spread his hands, "Then what's the point of talking about it? Mohe might not even do it."

He took a few pieces of rock sugar from a nearby jar and tossed them into the warming wine, "If there were roses available, that'd be great. I remember drinking a wine like this in a city, prepared similarly to rose tea, offering quite a nice flavor. But preparing this wine is rather tricky; capturing the aroma is a critical issue."

"I heard she's also tasked you with wine tasting?"

"Yes, so I'm trying to recreate my memories of wines I've drunk, to evaluate them anew. It's not easy; I was quite scatterbrained a few years back and can't remember clearly."

A flash of guilt crossed Rose's face, but she quickly changed the subject, "So, what do you think the Demon King is really trying to do?"

"Trying to do? Isn't what she's doing obvious all along? Just simple world domination," Doro looked puzzled, "What's there to question?"

Rose gave Doro a sideways glance, "Are you genuinely unaware, or just feigning ignorance? Would the Demon King waste time on something like that? There are many ways to hide one's identity. I can't help but think the wine that comes out might end up like Charlette's puppet, becoming a card in the Demon King's hand."

"And what impact would that have?"

Doro took a cup, poured the steaming wine into it, took a sip, and closed his eyes in enjoyment at the pleasant taste and warmth, "It's quite a nice flavor. Unfortunately, this is a vineyard, not a tavern, otherwise, I think this cup could sell for a high price."

"Do you really plan to assist the Demon King's revival?"

Doro's eyes snapped open, landing on Rose, "Is this question from you, or did Mohe send you to ask it?"

"Does it matter?"

After a brief silence, Doro said, "It makes no difference. In reality, there's nothing wrong with this world being ruled by the Demon King. Even if the Demon Race perishes, what of it? I haven't seen the light and peace arrive."

"The Demon King certainly wants to dominate the world, but... if humanity were to perish one day, I think it wouldn't be linked to the Demon King."

"If humanity ends up obliterated, it will have been their own doing."

Doro said words he would never have said in the past. Holding a wine glass, he stepped to the bedside, "Come, get up and drink, don't drink on the bed."

"Oh~ Drinking on the bed might make certain things happen more easily, wouldn't it?"

She adjusted her maid outfit, her pale thighs entering Doro's line of sight, yet he only took a cursory glance before diverting his eyes. She then brought the glass to her lips, "Whether you drink or not, it's up to you. Beauty and good wine shouldn't be wasted."

Rose jumped up from the bed, snatching the glass from Doro and savoring it slowly.

"Honestly, Rose, have you figured out who attacked you? The one who tried to kill you."

Rose shot Doro a look, "Don't you already know the answer? Why ask now?"

"Isn't it just a possibility?"

"Can you guarantee that when you say such things?"

Doro couldn't help but sigh, "But if she were so loyal to the Human Central Empire, from the start, it should have been her facing me, not you."

"Who knows? What is our teacher, the Sword Saint, really thinking about—she clearly despises the nobility and power, teaching us that only strength leads to eternity and power is just a tool to be used, yet she serves the Central Empire. Has the Wise King grasped something of hers?"

"You, being in the Royal Capital for so long, wouldn't know; of course, I would know even less." Doro could only shake his head, "But we have no concrete evidence to prove it's her."

Rose gave Doro a sidelong glance, "Do we really need evidence for such things? For people of our level, just a sense in our hearts is enough to make a judgment. Evidence isn't important; the one who should provide proofs they didn't act should be our teacher herself."

She paused, then added:

"Sword Saint, Ah Xion."
