Su Ping wanted to console her but he knew he had nothing he could say, in the end it still stood that he wouldn't leave with them. He needed to increase his strength as soon as possible and this beast tide was the perfect opportunity for that.
" Since you're not going to say anything, then I won't let you go~" Melinda said yet their was a hint of grief and anguish in her voice as she continued to latch onto him.
She knew her husband could easily escape her hold and do as he wishes, after all, she was too weak to do anything to him and yet she also couldn't bare the feeling of knowing that her husband was planning to put himself in harm's way again.
" I'm sorry darling..., I know that you can't help it... I know you have to do this to keep us safe, to make sure your able to protect us but, I don't want to end up losing you because of it."
" I know you won't tell me why it's so important to you to do this... but must you always put your life at risk. Can't we just settle down together, we already have more than enough to live the rest of our lives in peace and if it's not enough we can just become farmer's, so long as we're able to harvest enough crops seasonally, we can take care of ourselves and–"
" Mel Mel..." Melinda's voice turned silent when Su Ping's voice cut her off, though he wasn't stern or unhappy, she still felt her heart ached knowing that she really couldn't stop him.
Melinda slowly let go of her husband, her eyes moistened even more till two streams of tears fell down her cheeks.
Su Pings body weakened seeing her like this, he tried pulling her into his embrace but Melinda avoided his hands, instead getting up before retreating to where the children were asleep.
" Mel Mel..." Su Ping called out her name but she remained silent, seemingly unresponsive. Instead of responding, she turned her back to him before hugging her knees. Her lips trembled as tears continued to stream down her cheeks yet she muffled her sobs with her lips lest she woke up her children.
Su Ping stood up and stared at her in silence, he understood that Melinda was telling him to go and do as he pleased and yet his legs felt as if they were nailed shut to the wooden floor.
" Mel Mel.."
" Do you want me to say it so much?!" Su Ping froze when Melinda suddenly snapped at him. Her voice startling the children awake.
" You can go now! There, I said it! Are you happy now!"
" I thought you've changed but in the end you haven't! Your still the same! Can't you think of anyone else but yourself."
" Must it always be about you. We have our children to look after and yet you still want to do this?! for what?! Just so you can get stronger?!"
" Well if that's what's most important to you, then leave! Go get stronger! I don't care anymore... I'm tired of thinking your going to be different..." Melinda's voice broke apart before she buried her head in her knees, sobbing, trying to vent out all the frustrations in her heart.
" Mommy did daddy hurt you again..."
" Mommy please stop crying..."
" Daddy why do you always hurt mommy..."
Mel and Sal surrounded their mother with worried looks trying to console her.
Su Ping stood in his spot in silence, His clocked figure illuminated by the moon's glow suddenly looked sad.
" A beast tide isn't supposed to happen till around fall, so why is one happening now when it's spring." The old man muttered beneath his breath. He found it hard to believe that something like this could happen.
" Captain were ready to move!" The captain was snapped out of his thoughts by his party member's voice.
" Good! Let's go!" The Captain said before the escort group headed out, Rugard led the caravan, following closely behind.
With both groups gone, the once lively camp site was now filled with the dust left in their wake.
" They're finally gone." Su Ping muttered as he stepped out from behind a tree. His eyes lingered on the caravan at the back, which soon vanished when they reached a bend in the road.
Su Ping then stared up at the moon, His eyes glistened beneath it's glow. At the same time, the rumbling had reached a frightening level, meaning that the monster tide was finally here.
" Young miss, don't worry, We should be able to escape the range of the beast tide as long as we continue to push forward at this pace."
" Shut up! Stop trying to cover up your mistakes. Do you think I don't know what you've done?!"
" Young miss, whatever could you mean." The Old adventurer was dumbstruck, he couldn't help wondering what she meant and how on earth could all this be his fault. He couldn't help thinking to himself that this annoying heiress was back to her annoying ways.
" It's obvious you attracted these beasts because you guys were speeding too quickly, this all your fault, thanks to you my life is on the line!" Esmeralda looked like she was on the verge of panicking, yet the old man was more dumbfounded by her words.
" But young miss, you were the one who requested for us to speed up–"
" Useless Old man! Are you trying to pin this blame on me!"
"...?!!!" The Old man who was ridding behind her carriage window, ducked when a searing hot emerald flames in the form of a fireball came flying towards him.
The Old man's eyes were widened in disbelief, to think this useless girl had actually attacked him just now, even his own party member's were alarmed.
BAM!
The Old man's body suddenly stiffened when he heard the sound of an explosion coming from behind.
