My Dragon King System

Chapter 184: Forsaken Continent: Cronyssia’s Time Field

"Time has been stopped in that area," Aiden said.

Myrenne had a puzzled expression on her face just like the others, and so she said, "I don't understand you."

"What I'm saying is the flow of time doesn't move on that part of the continent," Aiden explained. "So it has been daytime for a while and it'll remain daytime until the Dragon of Time says otherwise."

Everyone looked perfectly astonished by what Aiden had just mentioned.

Laela's eyes widened and she stared at the sky boundary between night and day. "Dragons can actually do that?" .

Arianna stepped closer to the edge of the boundary but didn't cross it and her eyes tried to trace the lines

Myrenne shook her head slowly and her mouth was still slightly open. "I've never heard of anything like this," she admitted.

Aeris remained silent but her eyes were fixed on the frozen stone that hovered in the air just beyond the boundary.

Aiden crossed his arms and studied the time field with narrowed eyes. "If time is stopped in there then we can't just walk through," he said. "We'd be frozen the moment we crossed."

"So what do we do?" Laela asked.

Aiden didn't answer immediately, as his mind was working through different possibilities. Then asked Syra in his thoughts, "Would that same time field affect me since I'm a dragon as well?"

[Absolutely] she replied.

[Maybe if you were the Dragon King you would be slowed down to an extent instead of being stopped, but as a mere Skyfang you would be affected just as much as the others]

Aiden sighed.

Syra continued, [You'll need to find a way to either bypass the field entirely or convince Cronyssia to let you through.]

"It's not like she's right in front of us so how exactly do I do that?" Aiden thought back.

[That's for you to figure out] Syra replied.

Aiden stood silent for a moment, but as soon as the thoughts formed clearly in his mind, Syra spoke again. [Yes, that might work. The senses of a full-fledged dragon are on a different level]

She shared in his thoughts so she already saw where his thought process was going with the plan he'd conceived.

"I see," Aiden muttered and was now ready to go forth with his plan, but before that he looked up at the ladies.

First he turned toward Laela and Arianna. "Try not to be frightened from what you see."

They both nodded though confusion showed on their faces.

Aiden then turned toward Myrenne. "And don't question it right after."

Myrenne didn't understand but nodded anyway.

Aiden took a step back from the group and activated his Dragon Transformation skill.

His body underwent a rapid, dramatic transformation, growing larger and sprouting dark scales, horns, fangs, claws, a powerful tail, and wings.

Within seconds, he stood fully transformed into a fearsome dragon, his entire body armored in gleaming dark scales.

"By the gods," Myrenne whispered, with her voice trembling and her body shuddering with fear. She took a step backward and nearly stumbled.

Aeris stammered, "W-We've been walking with a d-dragon this whole time?" She looked just as terrified with her eyes wide and her hands shaking at her sides.

Laela and Arianna were lost for words.

They had known their husband-to-be was a dragon and they'd seen glimpses of his draconic features before but actually witnessing the full transformation was something entirely different.

His sheer size alone was overwhelming and the way his presence seemed to make the space hard to breathe in

They couldn't help their feelings even though they tried to stay calm.

With one mighty flap of his wings Aiden shot into the air and rose high above them until he was suspended against the dark sky.

Then he unleashed a deafening roar that shook the entire surrounding and sent vibrations through the ground beneath their feet.

But this wasn't just any roar.

His body was inadvertently giving off an immense amount of draconic aura along with it and that aura of dominance radiated outwardly.

The effect was immediate.

Myrenne and Aeris both went down on their knees as their legs gave out beneath them, and their bodies trembled uncontrollably.

Myrenne's hands pressed flat against the ground and her breathing came in short gasps while Aeris clutched at her chest with terror written plainly across her face.

But it was different for Laela and Arianna.

Perhaps it was the effect of the Dragon's Bond between them and Aiden but instead of feeling fear they felt something else entirely.

A feeling of confidence in his protection and dominance. They felt safe despite the overwhelming power radiating from him and they stood firm while the Amazons cowered.

The reason Aiden had done this, transforming and going upward to roar, was because he wanted to gain Cronyssia's attention.

Of course the sound of his roar alone would not be enough since sound itself would not pass through an area where time was stopped.

He was counting on the draconic aura that came along with it to reach Cronyssia instead, especially as dragons didn't rely on normal senses alone.

The supernatural awareness senses of a dragon were extraordinary. For him as a Skyfang he could tell when someone he was familiar with or when a new presence entirely entered an area within his range.

And for Cronyssia who was a full dragon and far older than him he expected that with what he'd just done she would be able to sense that another dragon was in the same continent and clearly wanted to interact.

And yes, that plan worked.

Somewhere deep within the continent past the boundary where time stood frozen, the head of a majestic dragon turned sharply toward the direction where another dragon had just made its presence known.

Cronyssia had been alerted not by sound because sound could not reach her here but because her senses could not help but pick up the unmistakable presence of another dragon making itself obvious and demanding attention.
