In that instant a white light emanated from him and expanded outward in all directions like a wave that consumed everything in its path.
Everything caught within that light was erased completely. The buildings collapsed into dust, the towers disintegrated, and even the ground itself vanished as the spell consumed all matter within its range.
The light swept through the entire city until nothing remained.
When it finally faded, the ruins were gone, leaving only a Kingdom-sized crater in its wake.
Every one of them watching from the city's outskirts was utterly amazed.
The Amazons could not make sense of what they had just witnessed and their mouths were wide open as they stared at the empty space where a city had stood moments before.
Myrenne had an unnerving look on her face with sweat forming at her temple and her hands trembled slightly as she continued to stare at the crater.
The look in her eyes wasn't just shock, it was terror and fear.
She stuttered as she spoke and asked openly, "Is… is Aiden a god?"
Laela's lips curved into a small grin as she spoke to Arianna beside her without turning. "I'm not sure his power will ever stop amazing me," she said quietly.
Arianna nodded slowly, her eyes still locked on the crater ahead. "That kingdom was roughly the size of Xathia," she murmured. "And he erased it in an instant."
Aeris stood frozen in place with her face pale as she stared at where the city used to be.
After a moment Aiden floated back down toward them and landed on the ground without making a sound.
He looked at the group and spoke flatly as if he hadn't just wiped an entire kingdom out. "Let's continue our journey."
Myrenne didn't respond immediately.
Maybe it was the fact that she was still terror-stricken or just shock but she eventually turned away from the crater and began walking again without saying a word.
The rest of the party followed in silence.
Laela and Arianna exchanged a glance but said nothing as they walked and Shadow trotted beside Aiden.
Aeris kept glancing back at where the city had been as if she couldn't quite believe what she'd witnessed.
After about an hour of walking they saw more ruins scattered across the landscape and then they saw a huge dungeon structure raised up so high and wide that it dominated the horizon.
Its gates were opened but there was no translucent portal at the entrance. This was clearly the case of a dungeon break.
From the size and wideness of the mausoleum-looking structure alone, Laela stated, "This is just about the size of an S-rank dungeon."
Aiden stared at the entrance and spoke without taking his eyes off it. "The demons I killed earlier most likely broke out through this dungeon, which means there could also be more roaming outside."
He paused and his expression grew more serious. "Given that this was an S-rank dungeon, the boss would be a Baron and that means a Baron is probably roaming around too."
Everyone immediately became alert.
According to the books, aside from their longer horns, Barons were demons whose strength and demon magic reached S-rank level. A single one was powerful.
Aiden then decided to check something out.
He activated his Dragon's Sight and scanned the four directions, starting with the path they were traveling, searching for any signs of demons.
His focused view range was about a hundred kilometers and within that maximum range he found nothing.
However, Aiden noticed something in the direction they had been heading.
He turned to Myrenne while pointing toward the direction they were moving. Then just to be absolutely certain, he asked. "We have to keep going that way if we are to meet with the dragon in this continent, is that correct?"
Myrenne nodded.
Aiden then took the hands of both his women, who still looked somewhat confused, and spoke to the others. "Myrenne, Aeris, hold hands with Laela and Arianna."
Aeris grasped Arianna's hand on Aiden's right, while Myrenne held Laela's.
Though puzzled by Aiden's actions, everyone fell into line without question.
He then turned to his wolf, which let out a whimper. "Your work is done now, Shadow."
The wolf made a final sound and vanished.
In that instant, Aiden activated his transport magic and vanished to the place he had spotted from a distance.
When they suddenly reappeared, they were taken aback by the sight before them.
Though still on the same continent, but the sky on the part where they stood showed nighttime while the sky in front of them showed daytime.
It was the strangest phenomenon they had ever seen, where both day and night coexisted at the same time and were somehow still demarcated from each other.
"I don't understand this," Myrenne said and her voice carried genuine confusion.
They all had different varying levels of confusion written on their faces.
Syra's voice spoke in Aiden's thoughts almost immediately. [She's here alright. That's Cronyssia's time field]
"What?" Aiden replied back in his thoughts.
[Cronyssia can make time stop, move faster or slower within an area. That area where her authority affects becomes her time field and given that the skies in front of you are not alternating between day and night quickly, I'll assume time there has been slowed or completely stopped—but not accelerated.]
Syra continued; [So, while the ground you're standing on is unaffected and you move normally, stepping forward would place you in a zone where time is either stopped or extremely slowed. That would reduce all your movements to a slow walk, or bring them to a complete stop]
"That's troublesome," Aiden muttered, causing the others to turn toward him, curious about what he'd said.
He looked at them and spoke clearly. "No one move forward just yet. I'll need to confirm something."
A thought had come to his head.
They nodded while he looked downward and flicked his index finger slightly causing a telekinetic force to pull a stone upward.
He then flicked his finger forward, sending the stone speeding toward the daytime zone ahead.
The moment it entered the zone, it stopped. It simply hovered there, motionless.
And with that confirmation, Aiden said
"Time has been stopped in that area. "
