In the mist, the building faintly revealed an entrance.
"Let's go take a look there," Shen Jingqi said, leading everyone towards the building.
As they approached the building, they found some strange symbols carved at the entrance. Shen Jingqi and Xu An examined them closely and discovered that these symbols were somewhat similar to those in the ruins.
"This might be related to the ruins," Xu An said.
They cautiously stepped into the building. Inside, it was filled with an air of antiquity, with many ancient pieces of furniture and artifacts arranged around. They searched everywhere, hoping to find some useful clues.
Suddenly, they heard a peculiar sound. It was like the sound of someone crying or the roar of some wild beast, making their hairs stand on end.
"What is that sound?" a policeman asked in fright, his body trembling uncontrollably.
Shen Jingqi gestured for everyone to be quiet, then he listened closely. The sound seemed to come from deep within the building.
"Let's go check it out," Shen Jingqi said, leading everyone towards the direction of the sound.
When they reached the doorway of a room, the sound became clearer. Shen Jingqi slowly pushed the door open, and saw the room shrouded in a thick layer of black mist. A shadowy figure was vaguely visible in the mist.
"Who are you?" Shen Jingqi asked loudly, gripping his weapon tightly.
The figure slowly raised its head, revealing a pale and twisted face. There were no eyes on the face, only two empty sockets, and a low voice came from its mouth: "You shouldn't have come here… this is a forbidden place…"
Shen Jingqi's heart tightened; he felt a powerful sense of danger rushing towards him.
"We are just passing through, looking for a way out," Shen Jingqi said, trying to calm himself down.
The figure let out a cold laugh and said, "Get out? You've walked into a trap of death. Everything here is to guard that secret; you'll never leave."
At this moment, the members of the secret organization had also chased into the valley. They saw Shen Jingqi and the others trapped in the building, and smug smiles appeared on their faces.
"You can't escape," the leader shouted, leading his men towards the building.
Shen Jingqi and the others were caught in a dilemma. In front of them was the terrifying mysterious figure, and behind them was the relentless secret organization.
"Shen Jingqi, what should we do?" Xu An asked anxiously.
Shen Jingqi gritted his teeth and said, "We can't just sit here and wait. Let's deal with the people from the secret organization first, then figure out a way to handle this mysterious figure."
They quickly turned around to face the people from the secret organization. The battle broke out again, and the sounds of fighting echoed through the valley. Shen Jingqi and the others resisted with all their might, but the secret organization's numbers were too great, and they gradually became overwhelmed.
Just when they could hardly hold on, the mysterious figure suddenly let out a roar. The black mist spread instantly, enveloping the members of the secret organization. Cries of anguish erupted from them, as if they were under some kind of attack.
Seizing the chance, Shen Jingqi and his team retreated to a safe corner. They watched the scene unfold before their eyes, filled with doubt.
"Why is that mysterious figure helping us?" Xu An asked.
Shen Jingqi shook his head and said, "I don't know, but for now, it seems we're temporarily safe."
The black mist gradually dissipated, and the members of the secret organization vanished without a trace. The mysterious figure also slowly disappeared into the darkness.
Shen Jingqi and the others breathed a sigh of relief, but they knew that the danger was not completely over. They continued to search for a way out of the building, hoping to leave this terrifying place as soon as possible.
In a corner of the building, they found an old diary. The pages were yellowed, and the writing was somewhat blurred, but they could still make out the contents with difficulty.
The diary recorded secrets about the ruins and the secret organization. It turned out that the ruins were left by an ancient civilization and contained a powerful force. The secret organization had been seeking this power, hoping to use it to accomplish its own ambitions. And that mysterious figure was the Guardian of the ruins, tasked with preventing anyone from obtaining this power.
"It seems we've been caught up in a vast conspiracy," Shen Jingqi said, a hint of seriousness in his eyes.
Xu An nodded and said, "But we can't let the secret organization succeed. We must find that power and destroy it."
Shen Jingqi and Xu An retraced their steps to the entrance, only to find that the doorway had been shut. The heavy stone door was tightly sealed, as if it had never been opened. The mysterious runes carved on it glimmered faintly under the weak light, exuding an indescribable eeriness.
"Damn, this must be a Barrier; we happened to break in while it was open, and now we don't know when we'll get out?" Shen Jingqi suddenly realized, frowning deeply as beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, filled with anxiety and unease. He reached out to push the stone door forcefully, but it remained unmoved, only echoing with a dull sound, as if mocking them from another world.
Xu An was also anxious, feeling the stone door with his hands in a panic, trying to find some sort of mechanism, muttering, "What should we do? Are we going to be trapped here forever?"
The two paced back and forth in the narrow space, their footsteps resounding sharply in the silence. Shen Jingqi took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and said, "Don't panic, let's search carefully again. There must be another way out." He forced himself to think calmly, scanning the walls around him, not overlooking any details.
Suddenly, Xu An pointed to an inconspicuous indentation on the wall and shouted, "Jingqi, look here!" Shen Jingqi hurried over, seeing a small protrusion in the indentation, like some sort of button. He carefully reached out and pressed it gently. However, nothing happened, and the stone door remained tightly shut.
"It seems that's not it," Shen Jingqi said, somewhat disappointed, yet he didn't give up. He continued searching for clues around, his fingers lightly tracing over the wall, feeling every subtle texture.
Time ticked by, and the two explored the building without finding a way out. Their mood grew heavier, as if shrouded by an invisible gloom.
"Are we really going to be trapped here?" Xu An asked in despair, slumping to the ground and holding his head in his hands.
Shen Jingqi walked over and patted his shoulder, comforting him, "Don't lose hope, we can certainly get out. Maybe there's a clue in the diary." Saying this, he pulled the diary out of his bag and began flipping through it quickly.
Despite the blurry handwriting, Shen Jingqi made an effort to read it.
Suddenly, his eyes brightened as he pointed to a passage and said, "Look here!"
"In the valley's secret realm, hidden mysteries abound, as day and night alternate, the door opens with time."
