Multiple Personalities

Chapter 360: Clues

Shen Jingqi and his team stopped a police car and explained the situation to the officers. After listening, the policemen's expressions turned serious. They quickly brought Shen Jingqi and his team into the police car and headed toward the police station.

At the station, Shen Jingqi and his team detailed the events to the police. The police expressed their commitment to thoroughly investigate the mysterious organization and ensure their safety. However, Shen Jingqi felt a lingering unease; he suspected the police might not fully comprehend the true power of this mysterious organization.

That night, Shen Jingqi lay on the bunk in the police dormitory, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Odd symbols and shadows of the mysterious organization kept surfacing in his mind. He didn't know if the police could unravel the secrets of the symbols, nor what actions the mysterious organization might take next.

Suddenly, he heard a faint noise outside the window. He sat up abruptly, cautiously watching outside. A dark figure flashed by the window. Shen Jingqi's heart tightened; he quickly dressed, grabbed a weapon, and quietly left the dormitory.

He carefully moved in the direction where the shadow disappeared. As he reached the backyard of the police station, he found the shadow standing in a corner. Shen Jingqi quietly approached, and when he saw the face of the dark figure, he was taken aback. The shadow was, in fact, a member of the mysterious organization he had encountered at the factory earlier.

"What are you doing here?" Shen Jingqi loudly asked. The member of the mysterious organization sneered and said, "Do you think you can escape us? We'll never let you go. Those symbols are important secrets of our organization, and you'll never decipher them."

Shen Jingqi tightened his grip on the weapon and said, "What kind of conspiracy are you plotting? Why are you kidnapping those children?" The organization member did not answer his question but suddenly lunged at Shen Jingqi. Shen Jingqi swiftly sidestepped and then wielded his weapon, engaging the organization member in a fierce battle.

Under the moonlight, their figures intertwined, fists and legs clashing, creating a flurry of sound. The organization member was swift and highly aggressive. Though Shen Jingqi resisted with all his might, he gradually found it difficult to keep up.

At that moment, the police station's alarm suddenly blared. Apparently, other officers had noticed something amiss and rushed over. Seeing the unfavorable turn of events, the organization member quickly turned and fled. Shen Jingqi wanted to give chase but was stopped by the police.

"Don't pursue, it's too dangerous." said a police officer. Shen Jingqi watched the direction the organization member fled, his heart filled with anger and frustration. He knew this mysterious organization wouldn't easily let them go, and they must uncover the secrets of the symbols quickly to fully expose the organization's plot.

The next day, the police began researching the symbols. They consulted many experts, but after examining the symbols, the experts all shook their heads, saying they couldn't decipher them. Shen Jingqi and Xu An felt utterly disappointed, unsure of what to do next.

As they were at a loss, Xu An suddenly thought of someone. Excitedly, he said to Shen Jingqi, "Shen Jingqi, I've thought of someone who might be able to unlock the secrets of these symbols."

"Who?" Shen Jingqi urgently asked.

"My university professor, who specializes in ancient texts and symbols. Maybe he can trace the origin of these symbols." Xu An replied.

Shen Jingqi's eyes lit up, and he said, "Great, let's go find him immediately."

They set off at once to visit Xu An's university professor. Upon arriving at the professor's home, they found him in the study, engrossed in research. Xu An explained the situation to the professor and handed over the symbol records.

The professor took the records and examined them attentively. His eyebrows alternated between furrowed and relaxed, his gaze reflecting curiosity and focus. After some time, he finally looked up.

"These symbols are indeed very ancient, ones I've never seen before. But I sense they relate to a lost ancient civilization, known for its mysteriousness and supposed immense power. Maybe the mysterious organization aims to harness this power for their scheme." the professor remarked.

Upon hearing this, Shen Jingqi and Xu An were astonished. They hadn't expected these symbols to be connected to an ancient civilization.

"Professor, can you decode these symbols?" Xu An asked.

The professor shook his head, saying, "Currently, I cannot fully decipher them. However, I can provide you with some clues. There's a rumored ancient ruin in this city possibly holding secrets of this civilization. You may find answers there."

After thanking the professor, Shen Jingqi and Xu An promptly left his house. Their steps were hurried, expressions tense; they both understood that the upcoming quest was as if navigating through a fog, with hidden dangers at every turn.

"Shen Jingqi, where exactly is this ruin? The professor's clues are too vague." Xu An asked worriedly, clenching his hands unconsciously.

Taking a deep breath to compose himself, Shen Jingqi replied, "No matter how vague, we have to find it. The mysterious organization won't give us much time; we have to act quickly." The resolve and decisiveness in his eyes grew stronger, prompting him to quicken his pace.

Back at the police station, they informed the police of the situation. The police pledged full support in locating the ruins and dispatched several seasoned officers to assist them. The team began scouring the city's corners, seeking any leads on the ruins.

Despite combing through a multitude of historical records and consulting many elderly residents, their findings were scant. Every inquiry felt like groping in the dark, resulting in either no leads or contradictory information. Shen Jingqi became increasingly anxious as time slipped by, with the threat from the mysterious organization looming like a sword overhead, ready to strike at any moment.

"This isn't working; we need a new approach." Shen Jingqi said, massaging his temples, exuding weariness with a tinge of frustration but predominantly determination.

Xu An nodded in agreement, "Yes, we can't keep wandering blindly. Perhaps by understanding the mysterious organization's moves, we may spot clues. They're likely also searching for the ruins."

Thus, they began covertly tracking the organization's activities. Through informants, they discovered the organization frequenting an abandoned industrial area at the city's edge.

Intrigued, Shen Jingqi and Xu An suspected a link to the ruins.

With police in tow, they hurried to the derelict industrial site. The desolation was palpable, with rundown buildings and rusted machinery pervading the area, exuding an old, stale odor.

Suddenly, a cacophony arose ahead.
