Chapter 130: Back at the barony II

At the Cave House

"Lord Dorian is back!"

"Get the boss!"

"Good day, Lord Dorian! It is an honor to see you once again!"

The workers all stopped what they were doing the moment they saw Maria and Dorian walk into the cave.

With a smug look on his face, enjoying the overly dramatic greetings raining down on him, Dorian could not help but smile even more.

"Stop, stop, you guys will make me blush."

One of the workers responded right after, "Lady Maria is here with you as well!"

Maria reluctantly lowered her head in greeting.

"We haven't seen you in so long. We heard you and Lord Dorian went on a honeymoon with Lady Seraphina."

"Really?" another worker uttered, shock on his face.

"Didn't you hear? Hehe, the boys and I have been talking about how Lady Maria, who used to protect the barony, was getting married to Lord Dorian. We were even praying for them to have kids so we can all be uncles."

Dorian immediately choked, while Maria's face turned slightly red, her eyes drifting towards him as though waiting to see his reaction.

Then a voice uttered from the other room,

"Settle down, you lot. You should know better than to meddle in the lives of a newly joined couple, especially one as adorable as our boss's fiancée."

That was Gatty, walking out of the dark cave room with his clothes dirty and a hammer resting on his shoulder.

He stood in front of Dorian, a smile on his face as he spoke.

"Welcome back, my lord. We have been waiting for your arrival."

Dorian smiled back. "What? Were you missing me that much? I was only gone for less than a week."

"Yes… we can't hide that, now can we?" Gatty and the other workers began to blush.

The very next moment, Dorian was seated on a small log with Maria standing right beside him and Gatty in front.

On the other side of the room was the massive incubator Dorian had asked them to build for him in order to have a place where he could keep all his dragon eggs.

The incubator was not exactly as he had envisioned, but from looking at it, Dorian was sure it could do the necessary work.

For starters, it was built on a large wooden platform, crafted with multiple tiered levels where the eggs could be kept.

The individual holes numbered about six per platform, and with fourteen platforms in total, it was easy to see the large number of eggs that could be stored.

Acting as a wall around the structure were slim planks with gaps on each side, so one could easily see what was happening inside without having to walk through the door.

Using Volcanic paste, the inside of the incubator had been regulated in such a way that the temperature would always be perfect, regardless of whether it was cold, hot, or the rainy season.

Lastly, around each platform were magic crystals, glued to the inner side of the box, waiting to be filled with mana.

Their energy would then be amplified and narrowed with the help of the volcanic ash to regulate the heat to each hole in the incubator.

Dorian sighed after reviewing the plans.

"If anything, I am actually impressed you somehow managed to spend such little funds on this."

He then looked at Gatty. "Even though it's big, we might need more, so let's just keep this as a prototype for now to test the eggs first."

"Understood, my lord. I thought the same as well." Gatty respectfully grabbed the paper from Dorian and began rolling it up.

During this, Dorian's eyes drifted to the outer part of the cave, watching as the workers were cutting down the trees blocking the path, intending to start building the roads Dorian had asked them to.

'Looks like they can take care of themselves without any supervision. Good. I can focus on other things then.'

He stood up.

"Keep it up then. I need to check on the dragon. Once I am done, we will need to treat your colleagues to dinner for their hard work."

Dorian smiled before patting Gatty on the arm and walking away.

This made Gatty smile a bit before then turning to the other workers, who had an excited look on their faces after hearing the rewards they were going to get for their work so far.

Meanwhile, Dorian had made his way to another room in the cave where the dragon egg and the young dragon were housed.

As he got there, what he met was not exactly what he expected in the least.

"Welcome back, Master."

His summon, the giant First Beast cat, bowed its head to the ground in front of him, its burning tail wagging back and forth.

Still, Dorian's eyes weren't on him; rather, it was the figure behind him that truly shocked him.

There stood a giant white dragon, so high that Dorian had to raise his head in order to see its face.

He was certain he had never seen a dragon with white skin before, and yet, this dragon seemed so familiar, too familiar.

Even Maria, who was right next to him, had the same expression on her face after seeing the dragon.

With shaky hands, she pointed at the beast while slowly turning her head towards Dorian.

"My lord, is that… another dragon…?"

The only thing Dorian had told her was that Ciel could lay eggs and he needed to build an incubator just in case that were to ever happen.

But he never told her anything about a new dragon.

Still trying to wrap his head around what he was looking at, Dorian looked at the dragon once more.

This time, it was looking back at him. Then, it spoke.

"Father—"

'Ah, hell no!' Dorian gripped his head. 'Don't tell me that's the dragon I left in their care. Why the fuck is it suddenly white?'
