[???, God of Calamity (???)]

There was no information. Nothing.

The status panel was completely blank, as if the system itself refused to describe the being.

But Stark knew.

This was the [God of Calamity]. One of the gods of [Eternal Soul].

In his past life, he had never once seen a god.

He hadn't even heard about anyone else meeting one.

No matter how far humanity advanced, no matter how strong people became.

Much like the other civilizations, the gods stayed out of reach.

For nine years, not a single trace of them ever appeared.

They were probably simply too "far" for them to reach, even though nine year passed.

And now, one was staring directly at his world.

The pressure it released was suffocating. Heavy.

Stark could feel it crushing down on the Earth itself.

It felt like it could destroy it with a single breath.

'It also called me [Heir of Oblivion].' Stark's eyes narrowed. 'Hm.'

Neris, the strange woman he had met in the [Abandoned Temple of Fate] and later in the [Church Sanctuary], had told him something.

She said the ancient gods weren't watching yet.

That it was too early.

But this? This was clearly a god.

So what the hell was it? Did the gods notice him already?

Or was the [God of Calamity] not one of the "ancient gods" at all?

Perhaps there were [Gods] and [Ancient Gods].

And either way… how many gods actually existed in [Eternal Soul]?

The questions kept piling in his head, but none of them had answers. Not yet.

To find out, he would have to go further than in his past life.

Trigger events he hadn't before. Reach places he never touched.

Only then would the truth come out.

[You shall face the wrath of Calamity, and so will your entire world.]

The voice was heavy, distorted, echoing inside every living being.

All the monsters in the world froze where they stood, gazes locked upward at the eye in the sky.

Their bodies shook as if hypnotized, unable to move.

And then—

Fwish! Boom! Boom!

A massive crimson pulse spread through the sky, washing over the entire world in an instant.

Every single monster was hit by it.

And as Stark braced himself against the shockwave.

[This bastard keeps trying to come back no matter what. We won't allow it.]

Stark's thoughts sharpened, 'The [God of Oblivion], I presume.'

The eye in the sky distorted violently, as if it was being torn apart by invisible chains.

Then, in a blink, it vanished completely.

The sky twisted, the crimson light faded, and the familiar dark vortex returned above the city.

All over the world, players and survivors had seen that eye.

Everyone had felt that oppressive gaze.

Fear spread like wildfire. But here, for now, it was gone.

At least, that's what Stark thought.

Because as he lowered his gaze back to the streets, to the monsters that had spawned during the third batch…

'Hm.'

Something was different.

Their bodies were covered with pulsing crimson veins.

Their eyes glowed a deep, unnatural red.

He quickly pulled up their status panels again.

---

[Calamity Rat (Level 25)]

[Rank: Epic (Calamity Buff)]

[HP: 220,000]

---

[Calamity Bull (Level 25)]

[Rank: Epic (Calamity Buff)]

[HP: 250,000]

---

His expression hardened. The difference was obvious.

Their HP had jumped. Their strength was higher.

Their entire presence had changed.

'This isn't normal.'

None of this had ever happened in his previous life.

The [God of Calamity] had spoken to him directly.

And now, the monsters were buffed because of it.

That much told him everything he needed to know.

The [God of Oblivion]… the being these gods feared and thus sealed.

If Stark was being called its [Heir], then it meant he was the last remnant of it.

That much was obvious.

And that also meant these gods were strong enough to interfere directly with events.

But they were still bound.

Stark caught it immediately.

The [God of Calamity] hadn't killed him directly. It probably couldn't.

It still needed to follow the rules of [Eternal Soul].

Perhaps because there were "higher beings" preventing it.

That's why it chose to strengthen the monsters instead of striking him down.

Which meant only one thing: it underestimated him.

The [Calamity Rats], [Calamity Bulls], even a few [Calamity Snakes] slithering across the ruined streets, had no fear in their glowing red eyes.

They wanted to kill him. But Stark wasn't worried.

If anything, that made things easier.

"Fine then."

Blazing Meteor! Storm of Lightning! Crystals of Death! Vines of Fate!

Boom! Crack! Fwoosh!

The street exploded in light and fire.

Spells slammed into the calamity-buffed monsters, tearing through dozens of them at once.

-288,360! -173,016! -45,000! -22,500! -22,500! -160,344!

The numbers flooded his vision.

The ground split open under the force.

Ding!

[You have gained 1 Evolution Point!]

[You have gained 98 Lives!]

Hand of Avarice!

[You have gained 104 Lives!]

"Good."

Even buffed, it didn't matter.

His damage was overwhelming. They couldn't keep up.

But he wasn't stupid. He knew this wasn't just about him.

Every monster in the world now carried this calamity buff.

That meant every other player, every other survivor, had to deal with stronger, faster, deadlier enemies.

He clenched his jaw.

The [God of Calamity] hadn't targeted his city only, but the entire world.

That much was clear. But the destruction could still spread like wildfire.

Even [Ghost] and [Starfall] might have trouble surviving this.

Especially if a legendary-rank boss carried the buff.

If anyone weaker than him faced one of those things, they were finished.

He couldn't waste time. He needed to clean up as fast as possible.

But before that, he had something else to do.

[Lives: 11,479]

His total had risen nicely thanks to killing Andregil and wiping out waves of monsters.

This was more than enough for what he needed.

He could finally extract his [Mount Bell (Ghost Wolf)] into the real world.

It cost 10,000 Lives. A heavy price, but worth it. Especially now.

The ghost wolf's speed and agility would let him sweep through the city, crushing everything in his way.

Ding!

[Do you wish to use 10,000 Lives to extract your "Mount Bell (Ghost Wolf)" to the real world?]

"Yes."

He didn't hesitate.

It was his most expensive purchase yet, but it was necessary.

Ding!

[You have consumed 10,000 Lives.]

[You have extracted your "Mount Bell (Ghost Wolf)" to the real world.]

The bell appeared in his hand, glowing faintly.

All around him, the sounds of fighting echoed through the streets.

Screams, roars, explosions.

The chaos was even worse than before.

'I need to move quickly.'

He raised the [Mount Bell] and shook it.

Fwoosh!

The [Ghost Wolf] appeared.

Its body shimmered, translucent silver fur gleaming under the broken sunlight.

Golden eyes locked onto him, calm and loyal.

It was pleased. It had been waiting for two days after all!

"Wolf," Stark's voice was steady. "We're circling the city. Every monster we see, we kill."

The wolf growled low in its throat, understanding instantly.

Stark climbed onto its back without hesitation.

In the next instant, it sprinted forward, paws barely touching the cracked ground as it raced through the streets.

'The ghost wolf won't fight. Byt all it has to do is carry me while I do the rest.'

That was the plan.

But just as he prepared for his rampage—

Ding!

[Player "Starfall" has sent you a private message!]

[Starfall: Two legendary-rank bosses that are buffed like crazy surrounded us. Ghost is stubborn, but I don't think she can handle them...!]

[Oblivion: Location?]

[Starfall: Near the giant tower. Please come quickly if you can! (⋟﹏⋞)]

Stark grinned. Perfect.

Not only could he save Ghost and Starfall, but he'd also get rid of two legendary-rank bosses at once.

"Let's go."

The ghost wolf howled, then darted toward the giant tower like a silver blur.
