[You have gained 30 Evolution Points!]
[You have gained 3,000 Lives!]

Hand of Avarice!
Ding!

[You have gained 20 Evolution Points!]
[You have gained 2,800 Lives!]
---
The boss's corpse dissolved into motes of light after the fight.
Andregil's remains left a scatter of drops across the scarred plaza.
Stark picked them up, one by one, reading the panels as he always did.
---
[Calamity Boots (Legendary): Physical Resistance +271, Movement Speed +17%. Requirement: Level 25]
[Calamity Shockwave (Active Skill): Slam your boots into the ground to release a shockwave toward enemies. 5-minutes cooldown.]
---
[Calamity Gauntlets (Mythical): Warrior-type accessory. +1,500 Strength, Attack Speed +31%. Requirement: Level 25]
[Calamity Strength (Passive): The user deals 2x damage while wearing the gauntlets.]
---
He left the rest of the items in his backpack as they were useless to a mage, but the boots fit nicely.
He traded out his shabby [Tower Wolf Fur Boots] without a second thought.
The gauntlets were different.
Mythical gear on their own were rare.
Gauntlets that doubled physical damage... that was borderline absurd for a non-warrior user.
Stark stepped back and looked at the crater where Andregil collapsed.
The monster had been the reason whole districts fell.
In the previous life thousands had died because they couldn't beat that thing in time.
Here and now, it was dead on the start of day two.
He let the weight of that sink in for half a breath.
He'd prevented a full day of carnage in this city.
That didn't mean everything was safe, every other city still had its own Andregil, and there were still monsters roaming.
But at least the biggest threat was gone in his own.
"Alright," Stark mumbled, "The only thing left to do is to kill all the monsters and bosses I see."
He would leave none of them standing.
And so, with that thought in mind, Stark rushed forward into the city, shooting spells at every monster he saw.
The second batch of monsters was indeed stronger than the first.
But to Stark... it made no difference!
Vines of Fate! Storm of Lightning! Blazing Meteor!
Slam! Zap! Boom!
The rare and elite mobs fell in groups.
And the bosses in the squares or the streets stood no chance either.
For hours he kept that pace.
The city turned into a graveyard for the calamity's monsters.
Each kill added to his pile of Lives.
But eventually... And the bosses in the squares or the streets stood no chance either.
Ding!
[Your "Heart of Sanctuary" has recharged.]
"Oh?"
The condition for this [Special Item] to recharge was that Stark needed to kill monsters, and it seemed like... he had killed enough!
[You are now allowed to "bless" another item.]
He had met the conditions, and so he didn't waste any seconds.
But in comparison to what most would do in this case... Stark didn't "bless" any of his equipment.
Stark thought differently.
He unclipped his [Calamity Fur Backpack], the legendary pack he'd looted earlier, and held it out..
He focused the power of the special item on it and...
Ding!
[You have used the "Heart of Sanctuary" on "Calamity Fur Backpack"]
Stark's inventory space was getting filled once more.
He was also fine in terms of fighting capabilities, so he didn't feel the need to bless any other items.
Especially since he knew they could easily be replaced in the near future.
But on the other hand... the backpack would surely remain with him for a while!
Ding!
[You have blessed the "Calamity Fur Backpack"!]
Fwish!
Crimson aura began to surround the backpack, boosting its capabilities.
Stark could bless ANY type of item with the [Heart of Sanctuary], meaning that even the [Revenant Bell] could actually possibly be "blessed."
'I'll have to try that next time.'
Still, he checked his new item.
---
[Calamity Fur Backpack (Legendary): +50 storage slots. Requirement: Level 25]
[Sanctuary Blessing: Doubles the space given by this backpack.]
---
Stark blinked.
A two-fold bonus meant the backpack now offered +100 slots.
'Perfect,' he thought.
The next times he could use the [Heart of Sanctuary] again though, he'd try to use it on his special item.
Once the blessing settled in, he went right back to work.
Stark continued his genocide of the monsters until the second day ended.
The rest of the day slid by in a blur of motion.
Because of some weird effects of [Eternal Soul] and the current global event, AKA the [First Calamity], no one actually needed to sleep: they didn't get tired.
The reason was unknow, but it was probably to make it "easier" to continuously fight.
Ding!
---
[You have gained 49 Evolution Points!]
[You have gained 3,729 Lives!]
---
He had significants gains once more, though even with all of that, none compared to the mythical-rank monster.
This went to show just how strong it was compared to all others.
Regardless, the sun went down, and then back up.
Ding!
---
[The final day of the "First Calamity" will now begin.]
[Over 80% of your civilization has died.]
[The rest of you have done well until this point, but the end is near.]
---
'Wait a damn minute.'
Stark couldn't remember everything...
But in his previous life the figure had read was "over 85%" at this point.
This meant that for some strange reason, less people died.
'That's... not normal.'
He wanted to wonder why, he couldn't actually dwell on it too much.
He felt no vanity about it. This day would be the worst.
Epic-rank monsters would now appear.
This was the third and final batch of the [First Calamity], the most deadly one of all.
In his past life, this batch in addition to the presence of the [Lord of Calamity] caused the majority of deaths of those that survived till this point.
But now that he killed Andregil in his city... it was much safer!
Of course, bosses still roamed as they too spawned with the third batch, but it still could work out!
The dark vortex above swirled and roared as more monsters spawned.
---
[Calamity Rat (Level 25)]
[Rank: Epic]
[HP: 170,000]
---
[Calamity Bull (Level 25)]
[Rank: Epic]
[HP: 200,000]
---
Their HP varied, but all of them were epic-rank, with hundreds of monsters ready to attack.
Stark, just like before, wasn't even concerned.
In fact, some of the monsters even seemed troubled as they looked at him, as if hesitating.
But right as Stark was about to engage with all of them...
Fwish... BOOM!
A pulse of power, subtle at first, stole through the world like a ripple.
It sent a shiver down the spine of all the players still alive.
"What the fuck was that?"
"Holy shit... more monsters?"
On the other hand, Stark's eyes narrowed.
Even he seemed confused, after all, this had never happened either.
But as he looked around, he noticed something strange.
All the monsters around him was looking at the sky, as if hypnotized.
He tilted his head and looked up to do the same.
And... The sky itself opened.
'Holy shit.'
A monstrous crimson eye formed inside the vortex and fixed itself on the world.
The eye focused, and Stark felt a cold pressure against his nerves.
It felt like it was looking specifically at him.
Ding!
[You think you are clever, don't you, Heir of Oblivion.]
[Let me show you what true calamity is, then.]
Ding!
[You have met the "God of Calamity"]
'Are you serious?'
