He'd been tormented all night by Eggy. Needless to say, a sleepless night left Feng Yi feeling worse for wear the following day. Sounds like someone's in for a good talking-to.
After waking, Feng Yi discovered that his wounds from the fight with Franklin hadn't healed. Instead, they'd worsened. Fortunately, his strong physique since childhood helped him weather all manner of misfortunes. He gritted his teeth and accepted his condition.
That evening, Feng Yi transported the little dinosaur into his Space Crystal. He was placing enormous importance on the upcoming academy entrance ceremony and didn't want Eggy causing any more trouble. With the creature safely stored away, he had a dreamless sleep...
The next day, as dawn broke, the gates of the Wind Thunder Academy slowly opened. This prestigious military school, the largest in Alpha, was preparing to welcome a new batch of students.
Early in the morning, numerous candidates faced the day with high spirits.
Walking along the campus pathway, the sight of the blooming snow flowers on both sides was enchanting. The beauty of the snow, combined with the graceful stride of the female students, captivated the male students. Excited chatter rang out as the freshmen greeted each other with confident smiles.
The sight of so many beautiful girls made Zhang Xiaobo's mouth water. He was disappointed, though, that Feng Yi wasn't around. Surely Gandalf hadn't tricked him into this, right?
Then, a hovering car zoomed past and quickly halted before the academy gates. It was an Alpha female model Time Second – a high-end, luxury car that made everyone's eyes bulge.
Anyone who could ride in such a car definitely enjoyed a luxurious life. While male students blatantly admired the car, some decent-looking female students scorned it. But they kept their feelings to themselves as they gracefully walked towards the academy gates.
The atmosphere shifted slightly when a purple-haired beauty appeared as a refined gentleman held the car door open for her. There seemed to be a flicker of hesitation among the freshmen.
Because her side profile was breathtaking. The beauty's elegant poise immediately made her the center of attention. Compared to her, the luxury car was just a prop. The girls who previously mocked her internally now felt like unsightly ducklings next to this swan.
Outside the gate, luxury cars lined the pavement, each vying for attention. They belonged to influential figures in the academy community. Some hailed from noble families, while others were from powerful households. Despite this, none could outshine Zi Mou, the young clan leader from Texas.
Zi Mou was a shining idol at the Wind Thunder Military Academy. Since childhood, her excellent grades and exceptional learning abilities were frequently praised. She even authored several scholarly papers on tactical command and excelled in Ancient Martial Arts. She graduated from the Wind Thunder Affiliated Academy at 14 – a year ahead of Edward and Amelia. And now, at 17, she was about to embark on a new chapter at Wind Thunder Academy.
Male students idolized Zi Mou while the female students sought to emulate her. She would politely acknowledge the warm greetings from faculty and students with a modest smile, appearing noble but not arrogant.
Xiao Bo was awestruck, staring at her retreating figure... until he accidentally bumped into someone else. The gentle touch and pleasant scent suggested he'd collided with a female student. A stroke of luck on his very first day of school, he thought with a smirk.
Just as Xiao Bo looked up, he was threatened by a petite finger on his forehead, pushing him away...
"Sheng, Sheng Qiangwei?" a startled Xiao Bo stammered, realizing he couldn't compete with this icy beauty. During their time at the ancient martial arts hall, Sheng was renowned for routinely rejecting admirers.
Sheng Qiangwei eyed Xiao Bo distastefully and remarked, "Xiao Bo, I didn't expect you to be here."
"Hehe, a man should be responsible during a national crisis. How could I forsake the federation and let my reputation suffer? It's true what they say: 'A hero is made by the times.'..."
"Uh..." Sheng Qiangwei subtly interrupted Xiao Bo before he could ramble any further. "Did you apply for the Mecha Department?" she asked.
"Eh? How did you…" Xiao Bo finally caught on, his expression turning sly as if he'd been caught in the act. However, he figured he should tread lightly with a senior of her caliber, so he quickly changed his tone, "How did you know, senior Sheng Qiangwei?"
"I guessed." She had a rough idea of his major due to his incessant chatter about Star Wars.
Soon, they entered the Wind Thunder Military Academy. Half an hour later, they began the intensive admission process in the crowded indoor training facility.
The elderly dean and other superior officers took the stage, revealing that the legendary ace pilot from the Solar System, Grand, would be the head instructor for the Wind Thunder Military training. Upon hearing the news, the place erupted with excitement. An ace pilot serving as the head instructor was nothing short of extraordinary. It was even more shocking than a concert by Athena.

In the Shadow District, the sound of an alarm echoed through a room. Feng Yi opened his eyes. He had slept soundly because of his sleepless night before. Glancing at the clock, it was exactly 5 a.m. Seemed normal enough. But why was the sun already high in the sky?
Realizing this, Feng Yi jumped to his feet in alarm. Damn it! Eggy had tricked him.
Without further ado, he quickly dressed and rushed towards Wind Thunder. By the time he arrived, however, he found that all spots in the Mecha Department had been filled. Only three positions remained open, alongside some administrative registration subjects.
Aside from administrative roles, the remaining three positions weren't promising: a border defense corps, a mecha repair camp, and a logistics transport force.
Being a mecha repairman was a familiar job for Feng Yi. In his time on Colonial Planet 103, he had his fair share of tinkering with junk. The border defense task, on the other hand, managed several thousand kilometers of the border line, with dozens of battalions along its length. Daily tasks included keeping watch and patrolling. This didn't align with Feng Yi's intentions.
In the end, the only choice left was the logistics and transport team.
Including Feng Yi, 58 people were late that day. As it was their first tardy, the strict Wind Thunder Military Academy did not make much of it, simply providing scolding remarks. Turning civilians into cadets was a gradual process – taking a few days for some, and even up to a month for others. Only when they officially became soldiers, would strict discipline be enforced.
