Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 366 Multiple Nightmares_1

Death was a painful relief. If he were to die now, would he eventually descend into hell? Feng Yi had never thought that hell, a space of that sort, existed in the world. But now, his chaotic thoughts had dragged him into an Alternate Space.

He found himself in a peculiar world where everything was unbearably hot. The heat was so intense it made breathing impossible, even the water by the lake was boiling hot. However, he must wake up, for he was in...a dream!

If questioned why, the answer was simple. Feng Yi suddenly remembered the scene where he had fallen. As a top warrior, his resilient spirit rarely dreamt, let alone being bound by a dream while being conscious. To be able to dream such strange dreams was somewhat a bad omen.

Inside the dream, Feng Yi could feel the loss of strength in his limbs leading to a loss of control. Therefore, he made a bold decision: he suddenly drew his military knife and fiercely stabbed himself. If his surroundings were indeed a dreamscape, there was nothing to worry about. And as expected, the knife precisely stabbed into his thigh without causing any pain. It was as if he had stabbed a stranger, unrelated to him. He wasn't able to wake up from such a dream.

It seemed like he was in considerable trouble. Feng Yi soon realized the severity of the situation. Normally, his brain would automatically disconnect from a dream when he's fully conscious, which was illogical in his case. Could it be that his body was rapidly deteriorating?

He had to survive and escape the Death Planet. Feng Yi's instinct for survival ordered him to jump into the boiling lake not far from him. His body suddenly jerked, and he abruptly open his long-shut eyes...

Had he woken up? He felt an initial thirst in his dehydrated body, which was immediately engulfed by a burning pain.

He forced himself to lift his head, looking up at the sky. He found that the sky of the Death Planet had gradually darkened, and the temperature had dropped from burning heat to just a few degrees above zero. The temperature difference would change drastically within an hour. If he didn't wake up soon, he'd freeze to death.

Dragging his weary body, Feng Yi decided to find a place to take shelter first. His clothes needed a change; you never knew what your opponent had left on you during a battle.

There was no time to waste. He must identify a direction and leave immediately. Feng Yi didn't dare to ride the Clapping Tiger until he was a safe distance away from the scanning device. His previous departure was too hasty. He quickly took out food and water from the Space Crystal. The most important thing now was to replenish his energy.

As Feng Yi ate, he formulated his next move. He felt ravenous, consuming roasted meat in large quantities and drinking water in litres, yet he didn't feel satiated.

Feng Yi was shocked again. If the previous dream was just a dream, how could he explain the current situation? His mind was struck by a terrifying term, Multiple Nightmares!

In other words, waking up from his previous dream didn't mean he was truly awake but rather he had slipped into another dream, which he was completely unaware of. This sensation was quite terrifying and only those who've experienced it could comprehend the despair caused by Multiple Nightmares.

You wouldn't know if the world you're in is real or illusory, or when you'll wake up or if you'll never wake up. The drastic contrast between reality and dreams could drive a person with poor mental resilience insane. Even Feng Yi was beginning to doubt his life.

Looking at his familiar hands, Feng Yi hesitated for a moment. He didn't find any shadow in the dusk as the sun gradually set. There was not even a shadow from the ruins; no shadows existed in the surrounding world at all.

Although his current environment seemed incredibly real, it was probably nothing more than an illusion his brain simulated based on his memories. He was deceiving himself.

If he were to die, it would be straightforward. Feng Yi's complicated feelings were layered with a touch of frost. This kind of torment was simply horrifying. Without thinking, he lifted his knife and swiped it across his neck. As he watched himself collapse, he realized he had been observing his actions from a god's perspective all along.

Yes, he had just noticed the problem with his perspective. If the point of view was always from a god's perspective, it meant that he was still dreaming.

He shouted and immediately gathered all the Storm Stance energy around him to disrupt the existing magnetic field. A cool breeze blew past him, and Feng Yi finally woke up for the third time. This time, it felt different. His instinct told him that he was truly awake this time. The unique smell of the Death Planet was still lingering in the air. His body didn't hurt as it did earlier, besides feeling thirsty, he was just drained of strength.

Looking at the ground, he saw his shadow...and slapped his body forcefully. He could really feel the strong sensation produced by his hands touching his body. He finally woke up from his dream.

Pulling out his food and water, he took a few bites. Feng Yi's face instantly turned pale...it was no good, he still couldn't feel full after eating. Regardless of how real a dream felt, his body's needs were reminding him constantly that everything happening in front of him was nothing but an illusion.

Was this a warning sign of death? Although Feng Yi was still dreaming, he could distinctly feel his body growing colder. Things had gone to pot. If he wasn't wrong, the temperature difference on the Death Planet was dropping drastically. He could feel the cold as well, which meant the temperature outside had already dropped significantly.

Feng Yi's gradually blurred consciousness ended up fixating on his third suicide attempt and he couldn't think independently anymore. He suddenly felt incredibly light as if his soul had completely slipped out of his body.

At that moment, time had lost its significance. It seemed like only a second had passed, yet it also seemed like a long journey. When life was about to end, he found that his surroundings weren't as cold anymore. Instead, he was enveloped in a warm comforting sensation which was intoxicating and enjoyable.

Suddenly, Feng Yi opened his closed eyes. The first thing he sensed was an ancient smell, followed by a room made up of mechanical parts. Was he...still alive? His mind was full of questions. The moment he lost consciousness, he thought he was a goner, but why...

Feng Yi forced himself to turn around to observe the surrounding environment, a practice he developed over time. In an instant, he saw a black panther lying nearby, observing him with complex emotions. Could this be the Blade Warrior who saved him?

"Finally awake, young man," said the black panther in human language.

"So, you're the one who saved me."

"Who else could it be? You seemed pretty battered."

Feng Yi gave a bitter smile, "It seems I owe you a thank you."
