Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 149 Wilderness Survival 9_1

Elvis didn't know when it started, but he had accepted this comrade in arms. He had strongly opposed Glasses sharing food with Xia Xinru earlier, but now, his attitude had done a complete turnaround. Elvis knew this was when his comrades really needed help.

"It's okay, I can still hold on."

Xia Xinru gently shook her head, pushing the can away. In fact, her weakened state was just a chain reaction of physical exhaustion. As long as she found a shady place to rest and had a little food and water, she would be fine. But for the sake of this three-person team, she was still trying as hard as she can to persist.

The tent, with its camouflage color, was slowly being revealed in their sight after a few minutes. When they clearly saw the tent, all three of them laughed, including Xia Xinru. But her face was so pale that it was devoid of any color. Suddenly, Xia Xinru lost all her strength and fell.

In their line of sight, there were not only three of them. Some teams had already arrived earlier, and teams from other directions were gradually arriving. These teams were generally better off than their team, or it could be said that Xia Xinru was too fragile.

Elvis and Glasses spent nearly every last bit of their strength to barely support Xia Xinru into the tent.

What caught their eye were the two large characters written on the tent: 'Station'. There was a 'Station' in the forest? There were some officers and trainees gathered around the tent.

'Station'... What did they mean by that? They didn't have the time to think too much about it now. They would not stop until they reached the end point. By the time they reached the front of the tent, Elvis had run out of strength, and called for the medics. "Someone! Are there any medics here? We have a patient."

As soon as the medics lifted Xia Xinru onto the stretcher, Elvis and Glasses fell directly onto the ground.

However, something didn't seem right. In just three minutes, they noticed that all the trainees who had entered the tent were leaving in a hurry. What was going on?

The two of them gritted their teeth and struggled to stand up. They walked into the tent and saw smiling Dean Weirbo and several military advisors watching the virtual light screen. The trainees, on the other hand, were staring gloomily at the food.

Just then, one of the military advisors passed by. Glasses asked him for the reason in a hurry. "Officer, what are those trainees doing?"

The advisor laughed and quickly gave a satisfactory answer. 'Station' meant they were eating. He claimed that this camp was not the true secret camp, but a welfare provided by Instructor Feng. After all, this was the first time they had undergone such an exercise. So, the soldiers had the right to choose to give up here.

Elvis and Glasses nodded blankly, indicating they understood. Perhaps the gloomy expressions on the soldiers' faces was because they hadn't found the secret camp and were upset, right? Nevermind, as long as they could eat, they felt somewhat comforted. They could always continue looking after finishing their meal.

However, when they moved into the crowd, Elvis and Glasses made the same face as everyone else, totally stupefied!

They had thought that this would be a grand meal, but it was not. No wonder some of the trainees left in a hurry, while those remaining seemed indecisive. They were probably debating whether to eat or not, or just simply leave.

The only food in front of them was live mice, only live mice. Although the planner of this welfare was Feng Yi, as the instructor, Feng Yi himself didn't know or care what kind of food the logistics department would provide as welfare. Mice? Cockroaches? BBQ or burgers, anything really.

This survival test was somewhat abrupt for the soldiers. The Jade Lotus exercise was a gradual process, which is why Feng Yi had provided numerous emergency supplies to the soldiers. This camp was just part of the clues.

Now, not only was Glasses dumbfounded, but Elvis, who had regained his confidence, was also sweating. It was okay to eat bugs, they were small and could be swallowed with a pinch of the nose and gritting of the teeth. But mice were different. They had learned about mice during school. Even though these were lab mice, everyone still had a difficult look on their faces.

The options before them were simple—well, they had three choices. The first was an easy one, to give up and eat a satisfying meal. Weirbo had planned that several people would choose to quit halfway. He felt that even getting this far was not easy. For those who chose to quit, Weirbo decided to place them in the Wind Thunder Special Forces. But to his surprise, no one had quit yet.

"Ha ha ha, young people need to show their spirit." The old Dean had been smiling since morning, never stopping. He moved back and forth in front of the soldiers with a friendly smile, as if asking silently whether they would eat or not.

The other two options were harder: eat or not eat? Eating a mouse would fill them up, give them the energy to continue towards the next goal. Not eating was fine too. If they were capable, they could go out and hunt.

"Brother, what do we do now?" Glasses asked.

"You're asking me, who am I to ask?" Elvis replied, frustrated.

"You're the squad leader, you make the decision. As far as today goes, I guess we're eating mice." Before Glasses could finish his sentence, he retched.

Elvis looked at Glasses, clenched his fists, and then loosened them quickly. "Let's wait and see how they decide."

There were already 11 teams gathered in the camp and five teams had left earlier. These people didn't know if those five teams had eaten the food or not.

As team leader, Mu Tou's path was different from theirs, but he arrived at the camp around the same time. The usually simple and honest Mu Tou didn't think too much about it. Knowing he could quell his hunger, he was the first to pick up a mouse and start eating. The crunching sound was crisp and sounded just like chicken.

Even his two team members couldn't help but give Mu Tou a thumbs-up for his actions.

The surrounding soldiers were all glancing at Mu Tou.

Elvis knew that time was of the essence. He didn't have much time to consider, he had to make a decision now!

"Everyone, eat quickly. Aren't you two hungry?" Mu Tou asked the two teammates with a puzzled look.

The two teammates looked at each other, then one of them took out a military knife, quickly cut open the skin of a mouse, closed his eyes and swallowed it.

The other violently chewed and before he could swallow, he threw up. But now, nobody looked down on him. On the contrary, everyone thought he was brave. At least he had the courage to try!

"Glasses! Let's eat!" The current Elvis didn't consider himself inferior to anyone, and neither did his team. He shouted and quickly grabbed a mouse and threw it into his mouth.
