Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1319: 954: Plan A

The tournament area was originally a place where spectators gathered, with complex flows of people coming and going. The virus lingered in the air for up to half an hour. Perhaps even two strangers who had never met might cross-infect each other with just a brief encounter, let alone in such a concentrated tournament area.

Amid the onslaught of the severe epidemic outbreak, Saudi was suddenly thrust into the spotlight of public opinion—now, regardless of the heat on mobile news, the internet undoubtedly pointed fingers at Saudi, and the organizers had no choice but to temporarily suspend the competition and contact various countries to impose regional isolation to prevent the virus from spreading further.

In this moment of universal self-preservation, anyone exhibiting symptoms of headache or fever panicked, fearing they might be sick, and would voluntarily leave their families. You might not even know if your friends and family by your side were infected with the dormant virus. The authorities could only treat the severely ill patients first and the mildly ill next.

Sky Shadow was just about to return to the tournament area when a series of sudden changes made him realize that the Mecha Battle competition could no longer continue.

As he had suspected, Greedy Wolf urgently convened an emergency meeting and soon after issued a directive, including but not limited to transporting residents of the Yate Federation back to their country for treatment.

Saudi could only make a show of compliance with this, dispatching two large mecha shuttles to transport the Federation's population. After all, with the multitudinous powers of Dragon Gate, Saudi was in a precarious situation itself, let alone the export of various precious resources.

As for the smaller powers, Saudi's support was even more meager. For neutral countries without military armaments, they dispatched only one or two medium-sized mecha shuttles in a hurry, under the pretext of limited resources. How dare you complain?

As if troubles never come singly, at this critical juncture, countries around the world received another piece of news: the interior of the mysterious battleship at satellite number eight was exhibiting violent and unstable energy fluctuations, for reasons unknown.

What was this all about? As is widely known, only a few high-ranking officials were aware of the bizarre battleship on Satellite 8, and the various countries valued the battleship far more than the Mecha Battle itself.

If one were to view the Mecha Battle as a new avenue for global business opportunities, a means to defuse political tensions between two countries, then the exploration projects related to Satellite 8 were entirely about humanity itself.

Weeks before, the countries discovered the mysterious battleship with an immense magnetic field fluctuation within, an unknown magnetic field that rendered more than 95% of existing advanced technology completely inoperative. Small devices like ion detectors and large ones like warship mecha shuttles, anything that drew near to a certain distance was bound to malfunction. Oddly, century-old tools were unaffected. Any technology involving quantum mechanics magnetic fields even down to digital electron proton technology, all would be isolated by the mysterious magnetic field, unable to interact.

It is known that the space we occupy consists of matter and antimatter. If we were to reduce them to a microscopic state, we would find they are all composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Everything that you can see, hear, or even touch is made of "matter" composed of the above elements.

And the "antimatter," constituted by antiparticles, is incompatible with matter as water is with fire. The acceleration of antimatter that humanity currently possesses is based on this principle.

It is presumed by the countries that the reason why our existing technology fails could be due to the emission of a type of antimagnetic field from within the battleship. Dubbed a "S-wave" magnetic field, it has been temporarily named the S-field storm. This special magnetic field could damage the cellular structure of the human body, and only those altered by the LayerTwo evolution are immune. This leads countries to dispatch LayerTwo individuals to explore and to continuously try with ancient equipment.

Unexpectedly, at this critical moment, strong magnetic field fluctuations inside the battleship began to show signs of being uncontrollable. In just a few days, individuals in several countries, miles away, started exhibiting symptoms similar to the earliest explorers of the vessel, indicating that the magnetic field fluctuations were no longer limited to within the battleship but were also affecting the matter within several kilometers around it.

Countries around the world simultaneously launched rescue operations for the original inhabitants of Satellite 8. The unstable S magnetic field might continue to expand and could even lead to an unprecedented explosion. Humanity is currently unable to estimate the explosive force, thus evacuating the refugees from the planet is also seen as an act of humanitarianism.

The numerous forces investigating Satellite 8 had to choose to cease their inquiries at this special juncture. After all, the majority of soldiers are ordinary humans, who would, after a certain duration of exposure to the unstable magnetic field radiation, experience changes in their chromosome sequences and die soon after. Currently, no ordinary person has been spared from the effects of the S-field storm's radiation.

However, some individuals, after the chromosomal changes, began to experience dizziness, nausea, palpitations, and a near-death sensation, while others underwent a gender change as a result of the chromosomal mutation. Of course, these were just a few cases, who would later die—only a small number of LayerTwo evolutionaries could safely move in and out of the vicinity, symbolizing the wealth of nations. Aside from humanitarian aid for residents of their own planets, the investigation of the mysterious battleship was in a state of mutual observation between nations.

——

Currently, investigating the mysterious battleship was the utmost priority for all of humanity. On the day of his return, Greedy Wolf was summoned by President Adams, along with a group of senior officers, to the presidential office. The somewhat serious atmosphere was immediately broken by Adams's humorous voice, initiating the meeting in the style of a tea party, "Gentlemen, thank you for your hard work."
