Global Gods : Skill-Resonance Awakened

Chapter 223: Ch 223 : A new idea

The colossal, demonic hand, a perfect mirror of Sunny's own attack, descended from the void.

It moved with a slow and unstoppable grace. It was not just an attack; it was a mockery, a declaration from Edgar that anything Sunny could create, he could corrupt and use as his.

The six billion Gods watching this horrifying spectacle through Thea's live broadcast, felt an existential dread.

This hand was not aimed at them, but they felt as if it were. It was a force that seemed to transcend the very concept of defense, a power so vast that even their nine gifted lives felt like a meaningless, fleeting comfort.

Sunny and Adam, however, stood their ground, their divine forms blazing in the shadow of the descending mountain.

They stared at the barrier of the God's Domain; their last wall of defence that had, just hours before, repelled the hunger of a Void Beast.

"It's horrifying," Adam admitted, his voice a low rumble, "but your barrier held against the Void beast. It will be able to hold against this too. The only question is the cost."

Sunny nodded, his mind a already attempting to count the faith drain.

He never finished the thought.

The hand, a swirling galaxy of concepts, touched the barrier.

And passed through.

There was not even a slightest of resistance. The Cosmic Hand, an attack forged from Sunny's own divine laws, simply phased through the God's Domain as if it were not even there.

In that single instant, the entire multiverse froze.

Sunny's mind went blank, a void of shock. Adam's eyes widened in dawning horror.

The barrier, their ultimate defense, the very thing that protected their entire territory, their worlds, and the quadrillions of lifeforms within… had failed.

"Look at your face, little bug," Edgar's voice echoed, a sound of malice. "You were talking so big just now."

As if to punctuate his victory, Edgar, with a lazy, almost casual gesture, raised his second hand.

From the void below Sunny, an identical hand of corrupted law erupted, its palm open, a mirror to the one descending from above.

Sunny's mind, and the minds of his fourteen clones, exploded into a storm of calculations, running a million simulations per second. 'Why? How?!' He tried to activate his Time Affinity, to slow the descent, to buy himself a single second to think.

But the hands, forged from his own laws, were already imbued with his Time Affinity.

They existed in their own temporal state, immune to his will. He couldn't slow them down. He couldn't counter them with a normal spell; that wouldn't affect it any ways.

This was an unsolvable riddle.

The two hands, one from above and one from below, closed in, their shadows converging on Sunny, Adam, and the 16 allied Gods who had bravely, and perhaps foolishly, joined the fight.

There was only one path left. The one he hated because of the faith drain.

Sunny raised his head, his cosmic eyes blazing with a cold, furious light.

He spoke a single, divine command, a word that cost him more than the creation of a thousand demigods, a word that ripped one quadrillion faith points from his reserves in a single instant.

"DISAPPEAR."

The universe screamed. The two descending hands suddenly stuttered.

They were laws, yes, but this was a decree. A higher authority, backed by a quadrillion-faith point, a surge of will, had just ordered them to cease existing.

The hands tore at the seams, the beautiful, swirling lights of their laws unraveling like threads from a tapestry. And then, in a final, silent implosion, they dissolved into nothingness.

A heavy, panting silence fell over the void. Sunny's reserves, once a mighty ocean of 4 quadrillions, were now looking a little shallow.

"Why… why didn't the barrier work?" Adam's voice was a whisper beside him, his gaze fixed on the spot where the hands had been.

"It wasn't his law that bypassed it," Sunny said, his mind replaying the event, the logic behind his own failure. "It was mine."

The confused looks from his subordinates were palpable.

"My command to the God's Domain during the Void Beast attack was simple," Sunny explained, his voice cold.

"Do not let any enemy or any enemy attack enter my territory." He let the words sink in.

"That hand, Edgar's attack… it wasn't his. It was mine. He didn't create an attack; he just… returned mine. The barrier analyzed the signature, saw my laws, my energy and it did its job perfectly. It recognized the attack as friendly… as internal… and it let it pass right through."

He now understood. Edgar's power wasn't just mimicry. It was something far more terrifying.

It was similar to Thorns, an ability to absorb, store, and return any attack, any law, any concept, thrown at him.

When Sunny had hit him with that Cosmic Hand, Edgar had eaten it.

The implications were chilling. What else had this creature "eaten" in its long, horrifying existence? Had it survived an attack from the demon lords? From a Void Beast? Did it now hold those powers in reserve, waiting to unleash them?

"So, that means… we can't attack him," Adam said, his voice grim as he effortlessly plucked the fiery hair from a struggling, bound Kash.

While Sunny and Edgar had their duel, he and the 16 Gods had successfully, and almost easily, captured the other 26 demon gods. Edgar was now alone.

"We can," Sunny said mentally to Adam, not wanting Edgar to overhear his weakness, "but the attack must be a one-hit kill. We cannot give him the chance to absorb and return a second blow."

"I was right, you are a little special?" Edgar's voice boomed, his crooked red smile twisting with glee.

He had seen the terror in their eyes, the shock, the dawning realization. "There's much more to come, little bugs. You haven't even seen anything yet!"

He raised his hand, and a new, different energy gathered; a wave of malecious energy.

It was not Sunny's. It was something dark, ancient, and filled with a killing intent that made the Gods shiver. He hurled it at the barrier.

SPLATTER.

The attack, a roiling ball of black energy, hit the God's Domain and splattered, dissolving harmlessly against the invisible wall.

"See?" Sunny said, a grim satisfaction in his voice as he felt the barrier drain a mere hundred billion faith to block the "normal" attack.

"That attack was from some other demon he devoured. My barrier can stop those powers, It just can't stop mine."

"Oh?!" Edgar's red, circular eyes widened in genuine surprise. His focus, which had been on Sunny, now shifted to the invisible barrier that had just repelled his attack. "A barrier? How cute."

He lunged with fury. His white-and-black fist, sith the size of a stars, slammed into the God's Domain.

BOOM.

Sunny's entire body recoiled, a trillion faith points vanishing from his reserves in a single, painful instant.

BOOM. Another punch. Another trillion gone. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Edgar had become a furious punching machine, pummelling the invisible wall, and with every single punch, he was draining the faith of Sunny like water.

"How many hits like that can you take?" Adam asked, his voice now laced with a desperate urgency.

"Probably… a few hundred, at most," Sunny replied, his own mind racing, his clones too were busy thinking about any solution.

The situation was, once again, impossible. They couldn't attack him. But they also couldn't let him attack them.

They were trapped, forced to sit and watch as this monster beat them into bankruptcy. 'We can't attack him… what can we even do?'

But then, Sunny, his God's Eye enhanced by his Domain's omniscience, noticed something.

A tiny, almost imperceptible detail that the other Gods, in their panic, had missed.

With every thunderous, trillion-faith-costing punch Edgar threw, his own star-sized body was… shrinking.

It was a minuscule change, a few centimeters at a time, but it was constant.

A new path, a new bold strategy, began to form in Sunny's mind.
