Chapter 623: Chaotic Dinner?
After a little bit of back and forth, they found a nice five star restaurant.
Sure, the people who stared at them didn’t seem that accommodating, but when the three of them flashed a little bit of their mana, the people became obedient really quickly.
They got seated and were soon given a menu.
As expected, the menu was high class. Last time he was here, he only ordered some sandwiches, and they were the best he had ever had.
Still, since Rael was swimming in cash, he went ahead and ordered everything on the menu.
Now even if the humans of this world were naturally afraid of them, this little gesture of ’I have money’ was enough for them to switch their tune.
And instead, with curt bows, they ran away and started making Rael and the others’ food.
“What are the odds they are going to put poison in the food?” Lilith chuckled.
“If they put poison in our food, I’m going to personally drop 100 dinosaurs on their city,” Rael replied confidently. “Though for all our sakes, I hope they don’t do that.”
“They’re not. The food they are making seems appetizing just from the smell alone,” Vatyra chimed in, drooling slightly.
Noticing that, both Rael and Lilith let out a chuckle.
He wasn’t sure how to act, frankly.
Vatyra was someone he hadn’t really ever had a heart to heart with.
Lilith was.
But if he wanted this ’date’ to be pleasant for both, he didn’t want to go ahead and start chatting about all sorts of things with Lilith, thus leaving Vatyra out of the conversation.
Rael sure as shit never wanted something like that happening to him.
So instead of prying stuff out of Vatyra or Lilith, he decided to dish out something random.
“If you could have any one ability in the entire universe, what would it be?”
It was the typical stuff he heard of in the past, except back then, everything was a little more cutesy.
Now, since he was dealing with people who could destroy worlds or even galaxies, he changed his approach just a little.
And thankfully, even though the two women were slightly confused by his question, they answered honestly.
“Hmm… I’m not sure? I always wanted to control time, and since you gave me the Law of Time, then I don’t want anything else,” Lilith said. “All I want is to master it alongside the other Laws.”
Seeing their expressions, Lilith pouted.
“Fine… I want a portable television screen where I could watch any movie or tv series wherever I wanted.”
So a laptop?
“Didn’t he say ability?” Vatyra asked, puzzled. “That’s more like a wish, isn’t it?”
“So? I already have all the power I could ever hope for. I don’t have a portable television screen though,” Lilith replied matter of factly.

Before Vatyra could berate her, Lilith dramatically put a hand over her forehead.
“Do you know the struggles of watching a tv series, and right in the middle of a climax, Uriel decides he wants to eat some food?”
“I have to pause it! I have to make him food! Then, when I come back to watch it again, it doesn’t feel the same!”
“The whole climax is ruined!”
Woah…
In the modern world, she would be the ideal otaku.
A shut-in? Yeah…
But that just meant Rael really needed to buy her a laptop as a gift.
And he would do so after they were back in the mansion.
Still, while continuing to bicker, it was eventually Vatyra’s turn to speak.
“I don’t have any wishes that need to be granted, but an ability… I’d like to be able to rebirth,” Vatyra said with a serious look.
Although the atmosphere became slightly dreary, Rael decided to indulge her.
“Why? If it’s not too much to ask, why does rebirth matter so much to you?”
He was really not expecting an answer, but…
“I’m a phoenix, of course I want to be able to rebirth.” Vatyra scoffed. “If I’m a phoenix who can’t rebirth, I might as well call myself a griffin. They are fundamentally the same, anyway.”
“Uhh… I mean, is it a bloodline thing?” Rael asked straight up. “I’m not saying I’m omniscient, but I could probably help you out if it’s a bloodline thing, you know?”
Hearing Rael’s words, Vatyra frowned.
“Did I ever ask for your help?”
“Do you see me giving you help?” Rael clapped back. “I’m only offering since you brought it up in the first place.”
“Ugh… Shut up, both of you,” Lilith said, rubbing her forehead. “This is supposed to be a pleasant time and not a time for you to go at each other’s throats, yeah? Just relax and drop that topic. Let’s eat some food, go to the theater or something, and then go home, okay?”
They stopped their fight immediately.
Still, they gave each other weird glances since clearly, this topic came out of nowhere.
Rael could potentially help her if he knew more about this whole rebirth thing.
Sadly for him, Vatyra was the independent woman type who didn’t want any help, when it literally cost her nothing in return.
Although he didn’t hate these kinds of people, he sometimes just didn’t understand why they never accepted help.
Still, neither Rael nor Vatyra lingered on that topic any longer.
Instead, they fell silent, waiting for their food.
That was until Lilith spoke up.
“What about you, Rael? What’s one ability you’d like to have?”
He threw the question out earlier without thinking about how he would respond.
Honestly, he didn’t think he’d have to.
But since he was at this point now, he might as well come up with something.
“I guess… If I had to choose an ability, I’d choose something like a barrier?” Rael mused. “An unbreakable barrier, or just something that would negate every single attack that came its way. Yeah… I’d choose that, most likely.”
Lilith giggled. “Any particular reason?”
“Well, I’d want to protect you all,” Rael replied bluntly.
But before he could continue his words, Lilith interjected, “So you’d want to keep us in a cage, then?”
“What…?”
“The way I understand it, you plan to do everything by yourself. We’d just be a prize you come and collect after victory, isn’t that right?” Lilith continued, twirling her curly hair. “Honestly… You should stop treating us like children, when you know full well we’d be capable of helping you in battle.”
Hearing her words, he couldn’t help but remain silent, unsure of how to answer.
“I agree for once,” Vatyra chimed in with a chuckle. “He does seem like that kind of guy.”
Come on… Rael sighed inwardly. I didn’t think the tables would get turned on me this fast…
But he also couldn’t ignore what Lilith said.
She was right.
