Chapter 483: Play Around And Find Out
The blood and fishies kept pouring from the black bubble even after Rael said those words.
Frankly, he felt like the fishies might’ve been a little overboard. Just a tad…
Anyhow…
“I’m not here to mock you, Minos. I’m only curious about a few things… one of which is your sister. She’s the colorless goddess, right?” Get full chapters from novel[f]ire.net
Minos’s brow twitched again. Then, with a single movement of his arm, he removed the black bubble that was in place of his left eye and tossed it to the side.
Sure, Rael had planned for the attack to do a lot more than what just happened, but it seemed like he accidentally set the bubble in the wrong direction. It was supposed to spew blood and fish to the other side, directly into Minos’s brain.
Well… that’s that for now. Rael backed off slightly, no longer under his Minos’s.
Noticing that, Minos finally spoke.
“How do you know about Jane?”
“We met each other,” Rael replied vaguely. “I taught you two how to survive by yourselves, and…”
He glanced at Minos’s left arm, covered by a giant glove and held together by an armband.
It seemed innocent, maybe even sweet, but Rael knew exactly why there was a glove on that hand in particular.
“For someone of your caliber, I’d assume regenerating a lost limb would be simpler. Want my help, maybe?”
Minos inhaled and closed his eyes.
“Enough…”
The pressure he had been emitting only a few moments ago had suddenly vanished, and in its place was a strangely empty feeling.
He knew something was there, but he just didn’t know what exactly.
My Foresight isn’t showing anything off too… is he not going to attack me?
It worked out in that case, so Rael decided to strike while the iron was hot.
“Not sure where you went, though. I remember I split away with Julian and Jane, while you stayed with Todd. How was it, by the way?”
He was kind of shooting blanks at the moment. After all, this was what he experienced in the Memory Record. For all he knew, the Minos from then and the Minos from this time had nothing in common.
However, from his complete silence, Rael felt as if he had at least gotten one of the points right. But now, even if he wanted to dig deeper, he couldn’t.
The two spent some time together, but by no means were they friends. If anything, Minos was incredibly timid back then, and because of that, they never really got along that well.
And… after I left with his sister, he might’ve gotten some kind of grudge. I really hope this isn’t the same Minos.
It seemed like his prayers were answered, as in the next instant, Minos heaved an exhausted breath and spoke.
“What’s your actual name?” Minos asked.
“I met you as Rael Altros,” Rael replied plainly.
Minos fell into thought for a moment, then nodded. “I see… Rael Altros doesn’t ring a bell. However, there was someone I traveled with for a while then split apart. My sister went alongside Julian and one more person whose face I can’t recall. How strange…”
The two locked eyes. “You are the person who controlled souls, aren’t you?”
He knows about my Reaper class?
“I guess, yeah? You remember that, but you don’t remember me?” Rael asked, confused.
Minos smiled slightly. “It is hard to forget someone who ’accidentally’ harvested the souls of half the continent.”
“That does sound a little like me.” Rael chuckled.
But despite their momentary banter, Minos’s expression turned cold once again.
“What is it you hoped to accomplish by bringing up these memories?”
“I want to know what happened in the past,” Rael replied. “What happened after the Blood Moon Arena? How long has passed since then?”
Minos stared at him for a few seconds, then shook his head. “I’m not obligated to tell you anything. Your identity is a mystery to me, but if you’re the same person who used to control souls, then I have even less reason to tell you.”
Before Rael could reply, Minos continued. “The world from that age is long gone, and what happened in it is something I wish to not remember. Now we must resume our battle as per Kareth’s rules.”
With those words, he raised his hand, once again taking control of Rael’s body. However, unlike before, the control wasn’t as extreme, so after just a few seconds of struggling, Rael managed to regain control of his body.
This was the second time he resisted something of this caliber, and the more he thought about it, the more confused he got. But that was when a pop-up flashed in front of him, reminding him of why it was possible in the first place.
<Boss Monster Exclusive Passive Effect – Adaptive Body: Each time you take damage from a skill, you build resistance to it. Repeated attacks become less effective.>
I didn’t take damage from it though? Insanity was the same. I guess this is some sort of bug? Rael mused.
Of course, he wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. If it worked, it worked.
Yet all that seemed to do was force Minos to try again and again. But at some point, he simply stopped, staring at Rael with a blank expression.
Then, he glanced over to Kareth and shook his head.
“This is boring. Let me forfeit.”
Right as Kareth was about to reply, Rael decided to drive the final nail in the coffin.
“Running away from your problems just as you’ve done in the past, eh? I guess some things don’t change.”
And the moment he said those words, his vision turned dark.
He wasn’t sure what had just happened, but if the lack of pain and any sort of feeling were any indicators, he was pretty sure Minos just one-shot him.
It was to the point where even his Gluttony skill wasn’t able to react.
But after just a few minutes of utter silence, he felt a pull on his consciousness, and before he knew it, he found himself in an extremely large forest.
Not too far away was Gaia, cradling the Angel Egg with a slight pout. However, instead of expressing her displeasure, she pointed to the side.
And upon turning toward it, Rael was left slightly surprised by who was sitting underneath the giant oak tree.
