Infinite Awakening: My Exp Doubles Everyday

Chapter 396: Self-Destruct?

Chapter 396: Self-Destruct?

The woman shut her eyes tight, her face twisting.

No, this couldn’t be happening. She had detonated herself along with her children. Tears began to gather at the corners of her eyes as guilt crashed over her. How could she have done such a thing?

“Wait… eyes?” The realization struck her suddenly. She snapped her eyes open, finding herself in the exact same location. She looked around frantically. Li Yao still had her pinned to the ground, and the children – they were still there, alive and breathing.

A heavy sigh of relief escaped her lips.

“Nothing happened,” she thought to herself.

“But wait… if nothing happened, then…” Her gaze shifted to Li Yao. Had this girl somehow managed to stop her self-destruction? If she could prevent even that final desperate act, what hope did the White Tiger Clan have? She couldn’t even sacrifice herself to save her people. It seemed her tribe was truly doomed.

In her heart, she offered silent apologies to her ancestors.

She glanced at Li Yao again, trying to figure out what this psycho wanted from her.

Earlier, Li Yao had mentioned catching a “big fish,” which meant all of this had been planned to draw her out. Now that she had revealed herself, Li Yao had even prevented her from self-destructing.

Most puzzling of all, she couldn’t sense any beast blood emanating from this woman, meaning she wasn’t receiving orders to attack from the other clans.

Could it be…? Her cheeks flushed slightly.

She had heard that some humans had strange hobbies. Perhaps Li Yao was the maid of some young master who had come to capture her for her lord. Then the young master would take her as his concubine, and she would be bullied by his main wives every day. At night, the young master would torture her, tying her up in the basement and doing terrible things to her…

Li Yao stared at her, wondering what was wrong with this woman. “This woman looks a little crazy. According to my crazy meter, I’d say she’s probably a trillionth Li Yao,” Xiang Yu commented.

“That’s the highest reading I’ve seen so far, even higher than Tianling,” he added.

|| What does that have to do with me? || Li Yao asked.

“Ah, don’t worry about it too much. The crazy SI unit just happens to have the same name as you,” Xiang Yu replied dismissively.

|| Is that so? || she responded, turning her attention back to the woman.

The woman’s face had turned pink, and she looked away shyly. “You can take me as your young master’s concubine,” she said in a barely audible voice. “I just ask that you spare my clan.”

|| Concubine? Young master? || Li Yao asked, completely confused.

Seeing her bewildered expression, the woman’s face turned to stone. “Did I misunderstand the situation? I want to die,” she thought.

Li Yao kept repeating those words under her breath until suddenly her expression shifted. || Young master equals master. Master equals husband. Husband’s concubine? ||

Her glare turned murderous, killing intent radiating from her body.

|| You want to be my husband’s concubine? ||

“I’m really cooked this time…” the clan head thought.

“Calm down, that’s not what she meant,” Xiang Yu said with exasperation. After witnessing this entire exchange, he actually felt a little sorry for the clan head. She was really unlucky to have encountered someone like Li Yao. “Besides, if you kill her, we won’t get what we came here for,” he explained.

After hearing that, Li Yao relaxed slightly. She climbed off the woman and stepped back.

|| Although I’d really like to tear off that mouth that dares to say such things, I’ll let it slide just for today. ||

The woman slowly got to her feet, studying Li Yao carefully. It seemed this girl wasn’t here to capture her for some young master after all. So what did she actually want?

“What do you want?” she asked directly.

Li Yao pointed straight at her. “Me?” the woman asked, confused.

|| I want your blood. Condense white tiger bloodline essence for me. ||

When she heard this, the woman let out a huge sigh of relief. “So that’s all she wanted,” she thought to herself. It wasn’t strange for humans to desire beast essence – there were quite a lot of humans who possessed beast bloodlines.

The beasts didn’t see any problem with this practice. In fact, they welcomed it. Having someone as strong as Li Yao carry the white tiger bloodline wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

Why had she been acting so mysterious about it? She could have just said so from the start, the woman thought. But she didn’t bother voicing these thoughts to this clearly unhinged girl.

She reached into her spatial ring and produced a small vial, then handed it to Li Yao. Li Yao examined it carefully. “That was easy,” she thought.

“Are you surprised? It’s not that uncommon for humans to want to receive the bloodline of beasts. As long as you’re strong enough, we generally have no problem with it,” the clan head explained.

Li Yao nodded along. || What level is it? || she asked.

“Since you’re so strong, I decided to give you the best I had. It’s noble blood,” she said proudly. “Not many humans have this level of bloodline. Even among the beasts, it’s quite rare.”

But Li Yao already wore a disappointed expression. The clan head wondered if she was seeing things. Others would be so amazed they would prostrate themselves before her, yet this woman looked at the precious vial with such disgust.

Had she stayed in seclusion for so long that things had changed this much in the outside world?

|| Don’t you have any pure blood essence? || Li Yao asked.

The clan head stumbled backward several meters.

Pure blood? Was this kid serious? She sighed heavily. “No, the only pureblood essence left behind by our ancestors was taken by me and a few other elders a long time ago. There isn’t any more of it left. Since we are all pure bloods ourselves, we can’t condense pure blood level essence,” she explained.

|| Is that so? || Li Yao asked, dangling the vial carelessly in her hand.

“Yes,” the head nodded vigorously.

|| Well, alright. I guess I’ll take it, || she said with complete indifference.

“You guess you’ll take it? This should be your greatest honor – to become part of the white tiger clan!” she screamed internally, but kept her mouth shut.

“If you really want pure blood bloodline essence, it’s said that one of the ancestors of the black tortoise clan is still alive, so he might be able to give you some. But those are just rumors, and the so-called ancestor’s existence has never been confirmed,” she offered hesitantly.

Li Yao stared at her. She thought to herself that the four mythical beast clans didn’t really get along with each other.

|| Are you trying to take advantage of me? || she asked coldly.

Instantly, an overwhelming aura descended upon the clan head. She wondered if she was about to die, but suddenly, the crushing pressure disappeared. Li Yao was gone too.

|| You’re lucky I was already planning to do this from the start, so I’ll let this slide, || her voice lingered in the air.

When the clan head confirmed Li Yao was truly gone, she slumped to her knees in exhaustion. “We survived,” she breathed out in relief. She then looked in the direction Li Yao had departed. “Where did that monster come from?” she wondered aloud.

Author’s Corner

Li Yao in her heavenly dao avatar form should have peak mahayana realm combat power. Technically, it’s half-step immortal but that isn’t a real realm. To reach half-step immortal combat power, you just need to grasp a law (not complete mastery, just be able to use it)

At the mahayana realm, your speed becomes the same as the speed of light, this continues being the cause up to the immortal emperor realm so there isn’t any real boost to speed going forward.

But this doesn’t mean people can’t go faster. One method is stopping time, another is shrinking and expanding space (this is what li yao was using to appear so fast) there are many other ways depending on what law you’re studying so this isn’t a real challenge.
