Chapter 385: Imaginary Space
Xiang Yu sat in a meditative posture, bouncing a ball of energy in his hand.
After some time, he crushed the energy, absorbing it into his body. His veins bulge slightly for a second before returning to normal.
“How could I have forgotten,” Xiang Yu thought as another ball of energy gathered on his palm. He crushed it, absorbing the energy into himself. This time, however, his veins didn’t bulge at all.
Xiang Yu looked at himself. The main feature of the Transcendent Dao Body was allowing him to refine all sorts of energy. Initially, he had just thought of elements, but weren’t things like immortal qi energies as well? If that was the case, then why couldn’t he just absorb immortal qi?
There was just one problem though. Although his body did indeed allow him to refine all sorts of energies, his spiritual root through which the immortal qi would come through, though omni element, did not have the same feature. And since it was just at the heavenly grade, Xiang Yu feared that forcing immortal qi through it could lead to damage to the spiritual root.
So then how was he supposed to get the immortal qi into his body? It was then that he remembered. That’s right, how could he have forgotten? He was a pure blood beast – he could just absorb the energy through his skin.
Since it was being absorbed through his skin, he wouldn’t encounter any problems as his body could refine all sorts of energies. As the immortal qi entered his body, he felt his body refining it into spirit qi that he could use.
But Xiang Yu didn’t want this.
Although it was indeed fast as the amount of spirit qi in immortal qi was immense, Xiang Yu felt he was already progressing fine with just his spirit root and didn’t need to refine the immortal energy.
Instead, he was going to use it to nourish his soul so he could expand the spiritual sea even more. As he guided the qi through the stars inside his spiritual sea, Xiang Yu had an idea. He continuously absorbed more and more immortal qi through his skin, guiding it to a small part within his spiritual sea.
As more and more immortal qi gathered, his stellar physique took over and began slowly forming it into a new star. Xiang Yu thought to himself that although his other energy was always being used so he often lacked excess to use for forming new stars, at the moment, he wasn’t in need of immortal energy so he could endlessly absorb it and keep forming stars.
With more stars, the stronger he would become each day. And since they were also being endlessly smashed by his stellar physique inside his spiritual sea, he would get all the soul nourishing effects he needed as well as grow his understanding of the energy as a whole, making it much easier to produce a law.
Main soul Xiang Yu opened his eyes, shattering another part of the dark miasma and forming void. He then waved his hand and formed space on top of the void. He looked as another star was forming inside his spiritual sea and sighed.
He had come to realize something about the space inside the spiritual sea.
The spiritual sea was some sort of spatial ability at its core. Even so, it wasn’t genuine space but rather imaginary space formed by the mind. Although it could still function like genuine space partially – like how it allowed one to move their core into it and hence their soul and spiritual energy – it was still not a complete space.
But what if he could change that? What if he could make it genuine space?
That was his plan. The way he was covering this area with actual space, he wondered if he could transform it into a real world.
He looked at the space he had just formed. Only one way to find out, he thought as he waved his hand, thinly slicing the space.
…
[Genuine space?] the empress asked.
“That’s right,” Xiang Yu’s partition responded, sitting in little Li Yao’s lap.
The empress seemed lost in thought before responding. [It’s not impossible,] she said. [I’ve heard of people trying this sort of thing before.]
“How did it go?” Xiang Yu asked.
[Do you know why the space is imaginary in the first place?] she asked.
Xiang Yu shook his head.
[Because it still gets the job done without all the burden,] she explained.
“Burden?” Xiang Yu didn’t understand.
[That’s right, burden. Do you know how heavy genuine space is?] she asked.
Xiang Yu’s eyes widened as he finally understood what she meant. That’s right, true space would mean everything within was real. For his case, he would have to bear the weight of a few thousand stars if he continued the way he was going.
Noticing his expression, she felt a sense of unease. [You—you wouldn’t happen to have…] Before she could finish, Xiang Yu nodded his head in embarrassment.
“You…” The empress lost her composure for a moment before she let out a long sigh.
Inside the spiritual sea where main soul Xiang Yu had waved his hand, a portal opened and the light clone walked in. The light clone walked around. “It really worked,” he thought as he felt the space around him.
Main body Xiang Yu was deep in thought. He had imagined being able to enter the spiritual sea and hide there, but it seemed he couldn’t do that. When he tried entering, he failed as the coordinates didn’t exist. He theorized it was because the spatial coordinates were inside him, so he couldn’t access them when he was moving through space as they also shifted.
Well, it would be paradoxical to be able to hide inside himself.
Still, it was a nice discovery. His other clones could enter and leave just fine.
Inside the spiritual sea, light Xiang Yu flexed his limbs, thinking to himself that it felt so different when he was connected to the main body. He felt he could do much, much more. This would be his base from then on.
He smiled. Since it was within his own soul and was a genuine space, it meant he could also experiment freely. There were some ideas that he never quite got to try as he feared his sect might be destroyed and he didn’t feel like leaving just to try them out. But with this space in here, he could try out all those insane ideas. He just needed to expand it a bit and he’d be all set.
