Chapter 351: Save The World [PART 3]

Tianling looked up at the golden clock, her eyes narrowing.

There was no way these two mortals could come even close to such a level of mastery.

Her eyes began glowing with golden light as she activated another of her abilities.

With this ability, she was able to follow a golden string of energy from the clock until it entered Li Yao’s body.

“She’s the one doing it?” she chuckled softly. “Pfft, no chance.”

There was no way Li Yao could accomplish such a thing. Even the heavenly dao body must have its limits.

Her expression became much more serious. If Li Yao wasn’t the one controlling the clock, then who was?

Someone else must be helping her. Just who could it be? It had to be someone from the upper realm.

Tianling nodded to herself as understanding dawned. There was no way the heavenly dao body would appear here without anyone noticing it. It seemed others already had their eyes on this prize.

If she had to guess, someone from the upper realm had descended into this world to guide the girl so she could ascend to the upper realm, where they would harvest the heavenly dao body for themselves.

She cupped her fists and looked directly at Li Yao.

“May I know fellow daoist’s name?” she asked.

Li Yao and Xiang Yu looked at each other in confusion.

[She’s talking about me] the Empress said with a sigh.

She thought to herself that as expected, she had been discovered. Well, she had exposed herself intentionally to see if this person was targeting her specifically.

Xiang Yu and Li Yao were both shocked by this. The Empress had actually been noticed by someone? This was a first.

[Just say this…]

“Which god are you?” Li Yao asked.

“I am the Asura God,” Tianling replied with pride.

“Someone actually dares to call themselves that? Are you perhaps related to the Demon God?” Li Yao asked.

“Yes, the Demon God and I are brothers,” she said.

“You don’t seem to like him very much,” Li Yao observed.

“Yes, the two of us brothers were inseparable until we met…” she suddenly stopped mid-sentence. Then she restarted as if saying it for the first time. “Yes, the two of us brothers were inseparable until we met…”

She continued pausing and restarting the same phrase like a glitched npc.

“I see, so that’s how it is,” the Empress thought.

She sighed deeply. It seemed her suspicions had been correct. Someone was actually influencing these events. The Demon God and the Asura God were all connected to some greater scheme.

A powerful being that could even make gods die and reincarnate just to do their bidding, just how powerful were they? She shook her head. She guessed the Asura God’s memories were being tampered with, and Tianling couldn’t even tell when it was happening.

Suddenly, Tianling stopped speaking entirely. Then she started again from the beginning. “May I know fellow daoist’s name?” she asked, as if the previous conversation had never happened.

The Empress shook her head in frustration. This wasn’t the ring leader, and even her memories were being distorted. Talking to her any more was just a waste of time.

“Trash like you doesn’t deserve to know my name,” Li Yao said coldly.

Tianling’s expression grew furious. “Don’t act all high and mighty with me! Aren’t you just like me? Coming to the mortal world just to guide the girl out so you can harvest her heavenly dao body. Don’t think I don’t know your scheme!” she shouted.

“What?” Li Yao exclaimed in shock.

“You didn’t know? Hahaha, I guess I exposed you!” Tianling laughed triumphantly. “Girl, you’re better off just giving me the heavenly dao body. Don’t trust anything she tells you.”

“Is it true?” Li Yao asked the Empress, her voice uncertain.

The Empress merely smiled. “What do you think?” she asked. This time, she spoke normally without using any authority.

“I don’t think you are the kind of person to do this,” Li Yao said firmly.

The Empress smiled warmly at her trust. [Now I’ll teach you how to use the law] she said.

Inside Li Yao’s spiritual sea, she and the Empress sat facing each other in meditation posture. Li Yao was hugging Xiang Yu’s tenth partition tightly against her chest.

“Senior brother, are you okay?” she asked with concern. Since she was learning how to use the law from the Empress, she wasn’t helping her senior brother fight, and her physical body remained motionless in the outside world, creating even more problems for her senior brother as he had to protect her too.

“It’s okay, I can handle it,” Xiang Yu said, though internally he thought it was really rough without Li Yao’s assistance. Before, when it was the two of them together, they had just barely managed to keep up. But now, it wasn’t even a fight anymore, he was just being thrashed around left and right.

Tianling’s fist punched a hole straight through Xiang Yu’s chest, but he instantly recovered and charged at her again.

“You’re really annoying, you know that?” she said as she grabbed him and threw him toward Li Yao’s still body. She thought to herself that she couldn’t kill this brat because she didn’t know how to get the treasure off of him. Not like she really could even if she tried given how instant his regeneration worked.

Just as Xiang Yu was about to clash with Li Yao’s body, he vanished and appeared behind Tianling. She didn’t even turn around. Hundreds of dark tentacles sprouted from her back and captured him. She then turned around and controlled her tentacles to pull him closer.

“Did you forget the method I told you for getting the treasure off of you?” she asked with a smile.

Xiang Yu remembered how she had tried to dual cultivate with him last time. “Hold on, time out, time out!” he said desperately.

But the tentacles just got tighter and tighter around him.

Xiang Yu remembered the conversation from before, she had said that she and the Demon God were brothers. “Wait, aren’t you a man?” he asked.

She paused for a moment, then blushed. “How did you know?” She then looked into his eyes. “It’s okay. For people at our cultivation level, gender doesn’t matter.” Her gaze grew more intense. “And looking at your eyes, I can tell that you and I have the same habits. You can’t hide it from me.”

Xiang Yu blushed furiously. Then he started thrashing wildly. “What the hell? What habits? Who has the same habits as you?” he shouted and struggled, but he couldn’t escape.

“It’s okay, no need to be afraid,” she said as she held his face gently.

Inside Li Yao’s spiritual sea, “Umm, junior sister… any day now,” Xiang Yu’s partition spoke urgently.

Li Yao was also struggling to concentrate on her training.

[Come on, you’re just a step away. Stop being distracted] the Empress spoke firmly.

“But senior brother is…” Li Yao began.

The Empress sighed. Then she suddenly had a better idea.

[This is even more reason for you to master it. If you go out now, you won’t be able to accomplish anything] the Empress said. [Are you really going to let her violate your senior brother like that? Me personally, I wouldn’t take such level of disrespect.]

As she continued fanning the flames more and more, Li Yao suddenly opened her eyes. They were still silver, but now they were glowing and seemed to be spinning in ways that just sucked you into them.

|| The way of heaven is the only way, || she began in a monotone voice.
