Chapter 469: It Wasn’t Me
“Elder Qiu, who exactly is she? Why should we listen to her to this extent?” asked a person by Elder Qui’s side.
‘Slap!’ Elder Qiu immediately raised his hand and ruthlessly slapped the person who asked across the face.
“You fool. You dare to even ask such a question? If you want to die then just find a cliff to jump off of without dragging me down with you,” scolded Elder Qiu. Despite his outburst, Elder Qui cast a few glances back at the person he slapped in guilt.
The person immediately shut his mouth after getting slapped, not daring to even say a single word more. For something to be able to scare Elder Qiu like this, no matter what it was, for Elder Qiu to squish him to death was just as easy as squishing an ant to death. Was that maiden’s cultivation so terrifying to such an extent? Who exactly was this maiden anyway?
On the peak of the mountain, that young maiden remained unmoving. She was frowning slightly, as if pondering something.
“Miss, do you want me to go take a look?” asked a maidservant behind her.
“There’s no need. Who knows how many pairs of eyes will be on us if we leave the sect this time? If we can avoid taking action, then we should try our best not to take action.” The young maiden curled her lips slightly as she spoke indifferently, yet a ray of chilling light flashed across her eyes. ‘Two guys and a girl? Who could these people who are ruining her matters be?’
“Yes, I understand, Miss,” replied the maidservant who no longer spoke after this and respectfully resumed standing behind the young maiden in servitude.
The sky was high and the clouds were faint, wind rustled the leaves of trees making the it look like waves were going across the forest canopy. Amidst all this, a refined, immortal-like young maiden stood upright in the wind, accompanied by four other young ladies who all had peerless looks that could topple cities. She gazed down upon the collection of peaks beneath her feet and though this sight made for a beautiful painting, it gave off a feeling of icy coldness and suppression.
…
Ling Chuxi and the rest of the group stopped when the sun started to set.
Before them was a valley where the surroundings were lush and green. Everything was quiet and peaceful within the valley and the cottages within the small village there were built in a crisscross formation. Smoke wafted out of the chimneys, swayed in the breeze, and lingered like mist for a long time, forming the backdrop to a series of unpredictable scenes.
A few youthful, immature looking children played happily in an empty space. A big yellow dog barked in delight with its tongue sticking out, leaping and jumping all around them. A few old people in coarse clothes, with their pants drawn up, were squatting by the door, smoking tobacco, happily watching the children play.
It was such a peaceful scene, as though from an idyllic otherworldly paradise.
“We’re here,” announced Jiang Wuhen. He seemed to hesitate for a moment, but still he led Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen towards the valley nestled between the mountains.
There was a clear fragrance of grass and woodlands in the air as well as a faintly odd fragrance. Back then, at the Wen family’s herb garden, Ling Chuxi also smelled an odd fragrance similar to this. When she looked over, the hill side was overgrown with all kinds of peculiar flowers and odd types of grass. They were actually all medicinal herbs.
“Jiang Wuhen, you still dare to come back here?” asked one of the old people smoking tobacco in a sharp voice upon seeing Jiang Wuhen.
“Hehehe,” chuckled Jiang Wuhen guiltily as his gaze roamed around. It could be guessed that he had carried out quite a few sneaky activities here as well.
“Ah, that’s right. I wonder which heartless dog it was who destroyed my herb garden. The few Heaven Heart Reds which were so hard to nurture were stolen just like that,” continued the old man as he tapped his tobacco pipe and squinted, his tone was dangerous when he spoke.
“It wasn’t me. It wasn’t me,” insisted Jiang Wuhen as he waved repeatedly.
“Well, it’s not like I said that you stole it, what are you so anxious for,” retorted the old man as he stood up with a cold expression.
Then, the other old people also stood up and strong Battle Qi started their emitting from them.
Realm of Great Fulfilment. Seeing the few old men revealing their cultivation levels, Ling Chuxi was slightly surprised. However, when she thought about the Crisis Reverse Pill, such an amazing medicinal pill, she felt relieved. It was just as the saying went, a great fortune attracts disaster. If these elders did not have such amazing cultivation abilities, it was fearful that this village would have long since ceased to exist.
