Chapter 3552: Medusa (18)
Going with Zeus would lead to no good end. While she might avoid being raped by Poseidon, Zeus would likely take advantage of her himself.
If she went to Mount Olympus, Zeus’s wife would surely find a way to kill her.
There were far too many stories of this kind. Zeus didn’t just mess around with goddesses. He slept with mortal women too and fathered many children. They became either gods or demigod heroes, which was why Zeus was known as the father of gods and men.
However, if she didn’t go, she would be defying the will of a god. The punishment for that would likely be unimaginably cruel.
Hahaha…
So she still had to run, provided she could actually escape the hands of Zeus and Poseidon.
Furthermore, Zeus was the king of the gods, who possessed power that could intimidate all other deities.
What should she do?
“Can I be honest? I don’t want to go,” Ning Shu said. Her fingers were already drawing a talisman. This particular one was for invisibility.
“You do not have the right to refuse.”
Zeus pointed a finger at Ning Shu, and a bolt of lightning crackled toward her.
Athena also possessed the power of lightning, but compared to Zeus, the difference was like a firefly next to a full moon.
It was too dangerous!
Ning Shu’s body couldn’t help but tremble. She scrambled to dodge the bolt, but the lightning followed her like a shadow and eventually slammed into her. She felt as if her very soul were about to be torn apart.
Ning Shu spat out a mouthful of blood. Fortunately, the talisman was complete, and her figure abruptly vanished from before the two gods.
Along with Ning Shu, the shivering, clueless firebird also disappeared.
Zeus frowned, looking somewhat surprised that the human had suddenly vanished.
“Great King, that woman is skilled in camouflage,” Poseidon spoke up.
On the surface, Poseidon remained respectful, but seeing Zeus fail made him feel a secret sense of schadenfreude. Suddenly, things felt balanced.
He wasn’t the only one who had suffered at that woman’s hands. Now that she had escaped even the king of the gods, if anyone ever claimed he couldn’t even handle a mere human, he could just say that the king couldn’t handle her either.
Hehe…
Zeus carefully sensed for Ning Shu’s location and then hurled a massive thunderbolt toward the direction she was fleeing.
It struck Ning Shu squarely in the back. Her back was instantly turned into a bloody, mangled mess. Ning Shu spat out more blood but kept running. Dammit, that hurt.
Furthermore, Zeus’s lightning continued to crackle and pop across her body. The electricity made her bones feel soft and her entire body go numb.
Still, Ning Shu did not stop for a single second. The consequences of being caught by Zeus would be severe.
She continued to draw talismans as she ran because the duration of a single talisman was limited.
With her current strength, it was unrealistic to take on a god, especially when there were so many of them.
There were also many gods of war and gods with all sorts of diverse powers.
The lightning continued to coil around Ning Shu, causing her agonizing pain. Every cell in her body seemed to be wailing.
With the lightning power still on her, Zeus could track her position and pinpoint exactly where she was.
Dammit!
It hurt so much!
The power of this lightning was so intense that Ning Shu felt like her soul was being shredded.
The king of the gods’ attacks were truly extraordinary. Ning Shu felt the pressure behind her growing heavier. It seemed Zeus was catching up.
The little firebird shivered beside her, completely bewildered by the entire ordeal.
Ning Shu’s scalp felt like it was exploding. Her hand moved at high speed to draw talismans, leaving behind only afterimages.
To hell with this. Ning Shu steeled her resolve. It was just lightning power, isn’t it? If she could absorb the power of the sun and the stars, then she could absorb lightning too.
After being pushed to her limit, Ning Shu directly cultivated her Unsurpassable Martial Arts in an attempt to absorb the flickering lightning dancing across her skin.
This was the first time Ning Shu had ever tried to absorb such a violent energy. The lightning power rampaged through her meridians, causing beads of blood to seep out from her skin.
The lightning was more violent and stubborn than Ning Shu had imagined. When it crashed into her internal core, it nearly shattered it.
Ning Shu gritted her teeth and pushed herself to the limit to suppress the wild energy.
The lightning crackled loudly within her internal core, turning everything upside down.
In addition to spiritual energy, Ning Shu’s internal core already held the power of the sun and the power of the stars. These three energies usually occupied their own spaces, clearly demarcated from one another. However, as soon as the lightning charged in, it threw those three powers into total chaos.
The four energies became a tangled mess in her internal core, attacking each other. Ning Shu was the one suffering for it.
She felt like crying. She had pursuers behind her and a riot of energy inside her.
But if she didn’t absorb the lightning, Zeus would catch her in no time.
Now her internal core was a total mess and refused to obey her commands. She was left with no power. If Poseidon and Zeus caught her now, wouldn’t she be like a lamb to the slaughter?
Absorbing the lightning was dangerous, but it was a way to kill two birds with one stone.
She might gain a new type of power and manage to shake off Zeus’s pursuit.
That was assuming she could control the volatile lightning.
Good grief, this hurt. If she had an ordinary human body, she would have been turned to ash by now. But a body tempered by Unsurpassable Martial Arts was much stronger and more powerful than average.
Tracking her from behind, Zeus sensed that the lightning power was slowly dissipating. He was even losing the ability to track the woman’s location.
To think there was someone who could actually resist the power of his lightning. Even a god would be wary of such a thing.
Ning Shu felt as if her heart had been electrocuted into mincemeat. Her beautiful, chestnut-colored curls that usually flowed like seaweed were now frizzed out into a singed explosion, with wisps of smoke rising from her head.
What was more, the thin gauze Ning Shu had been wearing was gone. Fortunately, she had the invisibility talisman, so no one could see that she was currently streaking.
Next time, she was going to strip Zeus of his clothes and make him streak in front of all the gods.
Whether she could actually pull it off or not, just fantasizing about it made her feel much better.
Ning Shu adjusted and suppressed the violent lightning as she ran.
She struggled to force the four energies to occupy separate corners of her internal core. She felt quite sorry for her poor internal core. It had to store celestial energy at the top, a lake of spiritual energy at the bottom, fiery yang energy on the left, and the crackling lightning was on the right.
Her internal core was stuffed full of all sorts of things.
Having barely suppressed the lightning, Ning Shu decided to simply release it. A massive, coiling dragon made of lightning erupted from her body and charged toward the pursuing Zeus.
Zeus was the master of lightning. When the lightning dragon rushed at him, he dissipated it with a single move.
Ning Shu took the opportunity to run even faster. Without the lightning on her body, Zeus could no longer track her position. If she didn’t run now, she never would.
At the very least, she had managed to grasp a new power. Maybe one day when it was windy and raining, she could stand on a mountain peak holding a metal rod to attract lightning.
Though, the process of drawing lightning into the body was incredibly painful. It felt like being electrocuted to death over and over again.
