Chapter 3544: Medusa (10)
The man is about to get married, yet you kidnap his bride? And when he comes to demand her back, you just keep provoking him?
The god of the underworld was absolutely livid. He met the man with cold eyes and harsh words, standing before the sea palace and giving this idiot a thorough beating and a long-winded cursing before finally carrying his wife back home.
What kind of normal person would do something like that? Poseidon was ranked second among the brothers, and he truly lived up to being a total ‘number two.’1In Chinese slang, calling someone “two” (二) or “number two” means they are stupid, silly, or eccentric.
However, Hades was actually a devoted man. He had one wife and no mistresses, making him a breath of fresh air in that promiscuous circle of gods.
Now that Poseidon had temporarily lost control of the ocean, his first thought was whether his two brothers would take the opportunity to kick him while he was down.
Athena and Poseidon stared at Ning Shu. She waved her hands and said, “Don’t look at me. I’m scared. I didn’t do anything.”
‘Don’t be afraid. I’m not a good person,’ she thought.
Poseidon pointed his trident at her, his bloodshot eyes narrowing as he scrutinized her. “What exactly did you do? Or rather, where did you obtain such an evil power?”
“Power is just power. There’s no distinction between evil and justice,” Ning Shu said directly. “In fact, I think your power is the evil one.”
Splitting mountains and seas for no reason, causing earthquakes and tsunamis at the drop of a hat—isn’t that power evil?
“Heh…” Poseidon let out a cold laugh. He decided to capture Ning Shu to see how she was controlling the ocean.
He thrust his trident heavily toward her, the weapon roaring with the momentum of the heavens, as if it could crush the entire world. Although the trident couldn’t raise a tsunami, its other powers remained formidable.
Ning Shu’s skin crawled as the trident locked onto her. Realizing she was in front of Athena’s temple, she intentionally ran toward it.
Athena’s face darkened with rage. She swung her scepter to knock the trident off course. If that weapon hit her temple directly, something would definitely go wrong.
Even with divine protection, the impact would cause another earthquake in the city. With such immense power involved, she feared all of Athens would be reduced to ruins.
Athena was absolutely furious. Poseidon was a total pig. He shouldn’t be fighting at her temple.
The fact that Ning Shu was intentionally hiding in the temple made Athena even more livid. If anything happened to her temple, she would fight this woman to the death.
The power of Athena’s scepter collided with Poseidon’s trident. Though the strike was diverted away from the temple, it hit another area and triggered a violent earthquake.
With a series of thunderous rumbles, dust filled the air over Athens. Walls collapsed. The city truly became a wasteland of ruins that would be difficult to rebuild.
Athena was livid, venting her fury at Poseidon. “Do you have no brain at all?”
Poseidon felt no remorse for destroying Athena’s city-state. It didn’t matter to him. He didn’t care at all.
It wasn’t his city, anyway.
Athena looked at his reckless, unbothered attitude and nearly spat out blood. Poseidon was a complete blockhead.
Ning Shu poked her head out from the temple. Seeing she was out of danger, she patted her chest with a look of lingering fear, which successfully incensed Athena even further.
“In my name, I curse you to become a hideous Gorgon. Anyone who looks into your eyes shall be turned to stone forever!” Athena chanted, holding her scepter.
A cloud of black smoke carrying the power of the curse drifted toward Ning Shu.
The power of the storyline was truly immense. Even though she hadn’t been raped by Poseidon or defiled the temple, she was still being cursed into a hideous snake-monster.
The black smoke swirled in front of Ning Shu before suddenly rushing into her forehead.
A cold, cursed power surged through her body. Ning Shu felt her cells being torn apart and reorganized. She was transforming from a human into a Gorgon. Even her genes were changing.
She looked at Athena with an indifferent expression. Although she hadn’t defiled the temple, the damage to Athens and the state of the temple made it natural for Athena to curse her.
Athena watched Ning Shu, waiting for her to turn into a hideous monster. Seeing Ning Shu remain unfazed, the goddess couldn’t help but frown.
“As my priestess, you actually did such things. You must be punished. The dignity of the gods must not be insulted, and their majesty must not fall.”
This concerned the mortals’ reverence and fear of the divine.
Ning Shu simply said, “Poseidon has been the troublemaker from start to finish. If you really want to punish the culprit, you should turn him into a hideous Gorgon.”
Because she couldn’t handle Poseidon, Athena chose to display her divine majesty on Ning Shu instead.
You’re a god, you’re beautiful and handsome, so whatever you say is right.
Athena frowned. Why hadn’t the power of the curse taken effect yet? The girl didn’t even look like she was in pain.
This left Athena feeling very frustrated. “With whom did you make a deal to obtain such an evil power? What is your purpose? Are you targeting the Olympian gods?”
“Haha! I don’t care who you think I made a deal with, but my power is certainly not evil,” Ning Shu said with a smile.
Keeping her hands behind her back, she pointed a finger toward the distant sea. On the calm surface, droplets of water slowly drifted upward, before eventually coalescing into human forms. There were men and women in gowns, embracing and dancing gracefully.
Countless water-people danced upon the tranquil sea—a magnificent and spectacular sight. Beneath the surface, beautiful, colorful fish gathered into lovely patterns.
It was like a massive stage where the performers sang and danced without a care, filled with joy.
Athena and Poseidon, being gods, could naturally see the situation far out at sea. Poseidon’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. What kind of power was this? Even he couldn’t do such a thing.
“Is this an evil power?” Ning Shu said with a smile as she looked at Poseidon. “You are not the sea god. You cannot control the ocean, and you cannot control water. You merely use violence to stir up tsunamis and monstrous waves.
“In any place where I am present, I strip you of your control over the ocean and your control over water.”
The water-drop mark on Ning Shu’s forehead flickered, carrying a powerful will that surged toward Poseidon. He was knocked back two steps by the force of it.
“What are you? I am the sea god appointed by the king of the gods! My power is not something you can strip away just because you say so!”
Poseidon’s face turned ashen as he stared at Ning Shu with bloodshot eyes. Refusing to believe it, he frantically waved his trident, trying once more to raise a tsunami.
However, the sea remained perfectly calm. The countless water-people continued their tireless, graceful dance.
Men and women danced together joyfully, their movements light and elegant.
