Chapter 3213: Cool Down a Little

Chapter 3213: Cool Down a Little

Lianqiao was full of righteous indignation. She radiated anger so intense it was as if she wanted to tear Yin Qing apart with her bare hands.

Ning Shu calmly took a sip of tea. “I gave her the opportunity. Fortunately, I gained something in return.”

“Miss, what are you talking about?” Lianqiao, who was still both angry and confused, asked.

“It’s nothing. Go prepare some hot water so I can freshen up,” Ning Shu said, looking at Lianqiao’s flushed face. “You should splash some cold water on yourself. Cool down a little.”

“Miss, aren’t you angry?” Lianqiao wanted to pound her chest in frustration. “I’m about to explode! I’ve never seen someone so despicable!”

Ning Shu thought to herself that there were still plenty of incredibly outrageous people Lianqiao hadn’t seen yet.

“Don’t be upset. It’s not worth making yourself sick over. Go prepare the water.”

Lianqiao went to prepare the bathwater. After washing up, Ning Shu brought out some paper and a brush and began practicing her calligraphy.

She dipped the brush in ink and slowly began to write. Her hand moved stiffly because she was trying to imitate someone else’s handwriting.

Gu Fanlu’s handwriting was elegant and flowing.

Ning Shu had seen Gu Fanlu’s writing in books before. The image of his calligraphy was vivid in her mind.

She needed to practice it over and over.

While practicing, Ning Shu said to Lianqiao, “Don’t just stand there. Start packing. We’re heading to the family’s manor tomorrow.”

“Miss, are we really going?” Lianqiao looked at her in shock. Wasn’t she just saying that casually?

Ning Shu flexed her wrist. “Pack up. We’re leaving for the manor tomorrow.”

She recalled that Marquis Xuanping’s household owned a manor that was relatively closer to the Yin family’s manor, compared to its main residence. Even though it was ‘closer,’ it was still quite a distance.

“Miss, the conditions at the manor aren’t good. You shouldn’t go,” Lianqiao said.

Without looking up, Ning Shu replied as she continued practicing, “You can stay home, then. You don’t need to come with me.”

“Miss, how can you say that? Wherever you go, I go. I’m just worried about you!” Lianqiao burst out, feeling her loyalty had been questioned.

Ning Shu truly hoped Lianqiao wouldn’t go, but if she stayed behind, Madame Rongguo would probably take out her anger on her. Lianqiao wouldn’t dare stay.

Her daughter had gone to the manor, and yet her personal maid was still enjoying the comforts of the main residence? Lianqiao would be finished.

Lianqiao packed everything, while Ning Shu continued practicing her calligraphy.

After so much practice, her writing now somewhat resembled Gu Fanlu’s, though it still felt stiff—unnatural and lacking fluidity.

Anyone could tell it was a forgery.

Ning Shu practiced late into the night, and only after flexing her wrist again did she finally go to bed.

The next morning, the steward had a carriage prepared and all their things loaded onto it.

Madame Rongguo said to Ning Shu, “Make sure to come back soon.”

She actually supported her daughter lying low for a bit, but she was afraid she might take it too hard. First, it was the broken betrothal, and now this scandal.

Ning Shu simply waved at her.

Madame Rongguo’s eyes were slightly red. There weren’t many children in the household who could stay by her side and accompany her.

Her sons and the concubines’ sons were all busy managing the family business—everyone had something to do.

The inner residence of Marquis Xuanping’s household was filled mostly with her husband’s concubines and daughters.

The men were all off doing business.

The carriage rocked back and forth. Ning Shu closed her eyes to rest. Lianqiao looked like she wanted to say something, but seeing Ning Shu like this, she stayed quiet.

Lianqiao felt she really couldn’t keep up with her miss’s thinking anymore. She had no idea what she was planning.

When they arrived at the manor, the steward there brought some tenant farmers to unload the carriage and move their belongings into a newly tidied room.

Looking at the plain and simple room, Lianqiao said, “Miss, let’s go back. This place isn’t fit for you to live in.”
