Yin Qing couldn’t help rubbing her forehead and said to her two younger sisters that there was no need to dress up so extravagantly.

The three girls squeezed into a carriage together and headed toward Lotus Pavilion.

Lotus Pavilion was a place nobles in the city often visited, and it was especially popular in the summer when the lotus flowers bloomed magnificently.

After getting off the carriage with her two sisters, Yin Qing saw that the pavilion was already crowded. Guards stood around, ensuring everyone’s safety.

From a distance, Ning Shu immediately spotted Yin Qing.

Yin Qing carried herself with a natural air of heroism. Her outfit was plain, and she wore only a single hairpin, yet her presence easily outshone the two younger girls beside her.

With a smile on her lips, Ning Shu approached and greeted, “You must be Miss Yin. Welcome.”

Yin Qing curtsied, and Ning Shu hurriedly returned the gesture. “Please, come inside.”

As she extended her spiritual consciousness, Ning Shu noticed a gun strapped to Yin Qing’s leg.

“Miss Su is too polite,” Yin Qing replied with a nod before leading her sisters into the pavilion.

Still, she couldn’t resist glancing back at Ning Shu, who was busy welcoming other guests. That should be Zhuo Cheran’s fiancée.

A proper young lady from a prestigious family.

Yin Qing pressed her lips together. Her expression was tinged with a trace of melancholy.

Inside the pavilion, she found a seat. All around her were daughters of noble families, each of which was elegant and refined. Even when they laughed, they covered their mouths with a fan or a handkerchief.

They were graceful and poised.

Ning Shu, however, kept sneaking glances at Yin Qing. Yin Qing had a unique charm, a boldness unlike the women raised in the rear courtyards.

Eventually, Ning Shu walked over and sat beside her. “Miss Yin.”

Her gaze fell on the bracelet around Yin Qing’s wrist. It was a fine piece of white jade. Its gentle beauty softened Yin Qing’s otherwise sharp aura.

“Miss Su,” Yin Qing acknowledged calmly.

Ning Shu suggested with a smile, “Shall we go to the bridge? The lotuses are in full bloom.”

Yin Qing nodded and followed Ning Shu along with a group of noble ladies to the bridge, where they admired the flowers and glanced at the young gentlemen across the river.

Some young men were in the other pavilions, competing with poetry recitation. Their enthusiasm rose even higher when they saw the ladies gathered on the bridge and recited the poems even more loudly.

As Yin Qing walked near the edge, Ning Shu suddenly released a burst of spiritual energy. It struck her squarely in the back.

Yin Qing toppled straight into the lotus pond with a splash.

The crowd gasped in alarm. Ning Shu quickly ordered the guards, “Stop those young men! Don’t let them dive in to rescue her.”

After all, if a man pulled a woman from the water, her reputation would be ruined, and she would be forced into marriage. Such an outcome would be far too convenient for those men.

After saying that, Ning Shu lifted the hem of her dress and leapt into the pond herself, then swam toward Yin Qing.

Though Yin Qing knew how to swim, Ning Shu dragged her down, and the two became entangled beneath the surface.

Ning Shu clung tightly to Yin Qing, who struggled for breath.

When Ning Shu spotted the jade bracelet, she tore it from Yin Qing’s wrist and tried to crush it with all her strength.

Yet even with her strength, she couldn’t destroy it.

“Let me handle it,” said 2333.

2333 infiltrated the bracelet, and moments later, when Ning Shu applied pressure again, the bracelet disintegrated into powder and dissolved into the water.

Yin Qing broke free and finally surfaced. She pulled Ning Shu with her toward the bank.

Ning Shu was choking as she surfaced, and she even had weeds in her mouth. The other noble young ladies rushed forward toward them in concern and asked Ning Shu how she was.
