Chapter 1207: YUNYUE VS FENGHUANG (XLII)

HOLMES stepped forward, placing a hand on Luo Yan's shoulder to signal him to move aside. "Allow me," he said simply. Luo Yan shifted off Mrs. Winslow, and Holmes quickly took his place, pinning her wrists to the floor with a firm grip. She thrashed, but Holmes held her steady with a calm and focused expression.

"Now, Mrs. Winslow—or should I say, Jack?—let's not make this harder than it needs to be. You don't want that would of yours to open again, correct?" he said, his tone matter-of-fact.

Mrs. Winslow snarled, her face twisted in rage. "Let go of me!" she shouted, thrashing against Holmes' grip. Her movements were wild, but Holmes held her firmly. "You think you've won?" she spat, her voice sharp and venomous. "You have no idea what you're dealing with!"

"Of course, I know," Holmes said, his tone dry and unimpressed. "You're the infamous Jack the Ripper, the one who's brought terror to the streets of London. Truly, madam, I'm quaking in my boots."

Holmes began tying Mrs. Winslow's hands and feet with a rope Luo Yan wasn't sure where he'd gotten from. As the two continued to struggle, Luo Yan glanced at Mrs. Thompson and Miss Thompson, who were still unconscious.

From what they'd discussed with Holmes earlier, they knew that on the first night, Mrs. Winslow must have used some kind of sleeping gas to knock everyone out, allowing her to slash her own throat without interference. The gas wasn't strong enough to keep them unconscious for long, though—just enough to ensure they'd wake up the moment she screamed, making her "attack" seem all the more real.

The two murders that followed were carried out in much the same way. With the doctor's help, it became even easier for Mrs. Winslow to kill without raising suspicion.

Speaking of the doctor, Luo Yan stepped out of the cabin and saw Shen Ji Yun locked in a fight with him. The doctor swung a scalpel in wide arcs, aiming for Shen Ji Yun's throat and chest, but Shen Ji Yun ducked and sidestepped, keeping his distance. The doctor lunged forward, slashing downward, but Shen Ji Yun caught his wrist, twisting it sharply until the scalpel clattered to the floor. The doctor kicked out, forcing Shen Ji Yun to let go, and the two circled each other, both breathing heavily but neither backing down.

The doctor had his back to where Luo Yan was standing, he looked down at the knife he's still holding and wondered if he could sneak attack the other. But Shen Ji Yun, who had a clear view of him, seemed to have an idea of what he was thinking because he gave a slight shake of his head. That brief eye contact was enough for them to understand what the other wanted.

Luo Yan set the knife down and stepped back into the cabin. He was sure Shen Ji Yun would go for it later. Hopefully, it would be enough to turn the tide against the doctor.

The doctor was clearly a member of team Fenghuang. Thankfully, the other members of their team would have a hard time reaching this car—Luo Jin had made sure both entrances were locked. Bai Ze was also causing a distraction elsewhere, drawing the attention of the other passengers. Meanwhile, Holmes had already informed the train manager of Mrs. Winslow's true identity. He'd also assured the manager that the bomb threat was likely a bluff, so they could stop at the next station without worry.

Since the bomb threat was just a ruse to keep the train moving and allow the Ripper to continue her killing spree, there was no need to investigate whether it was real or not. Truthfully, if they'd found a way to convince the train manager earlier that the threat was fake, Luo Yan would have done it. The match might have ended much sooner.

Thinking about the match, Luo Yan wondered why there hadn't been a system announcement declaring their victory. They'd already stopped the third murder, hadn't they?

Luo Yan saw that Mrs. Winslow was now completely tied up, with Holmes standing over her. He narrowed his eyes at the woman, who was glaring daggers at Holmes. Did the game expect them to kill her to secure the win? Or maybe… he glanced at the still-unconscious Mrs. Thompson. Did they need a direct confession?

If that was the case, Luo Yan walked over to Mrs. Thompson's bunk and gently shook her shoulder. It didn't take long for her to stir, her eyes fluttering open as she slowly regained consciousness.

Mrs. Thompson blinked, her expression dazed and confused at first. Then, as her gaze landed on Holmes and the bound Mrs. Winslow, her eyes widened in shock. "W-What's going on?" she stammered, her voice trembling as she tried to sit up, her hands gripping the edge of the bunk for support.

Holmes raised his brow at Luo Yan and Luo Yan just shrugged. Holmes took his gaze back and smiled at Mrs. Thompson.

"It's probably inappropriate to say it's a pleasure to meet you under these circumstances, Mrs. Thompson," Holmes began, "but regardless, allow me to introduce myself. I am Sherlock Holmes, and I believe we have much to discuss."

"H-Holmes? The famous detective?" Mrs. Thompson stammered, but she didn't wait for an answer. Her eyes darted to Mrs. Winslow, her voice rising in alarm. "Why is she tied up like that?"

"I don't think there's a better way to tell you this, but this madam just tried to kill you."

"W-what?" Mrs. Thompson asked in disbelief.

Even Luo Yan would have the same reaction. Was the real Sherlock Holmes really this tackless?

"There is, however, an even more startling revelation I must share with you."

Luo Yan's eyes widened slightly as he listened to Holmes. Surely, this guy wouldn't—

"Mrs. Winslow is, in all likelihood, the daughter you abandoned all those years ago," Holmes finished.

If this were reality, Luo Yan would've been tempted to throw something at the detective's face.
