Chapter 623 - Scented Pouch From A Fairy

Chapter 623: Scented Pouch From A Fairy

The other guests were all unorthodox and only Ye Yuzhou practiced authentic cultivation methods so he and the immortals had something in common to talk about. In fact, they started bonding surprisingly well.

After thinking it was almost time, Lin Jin raised his queries about the nine sun quartz.

Of course, he didn’t directly tell them he didn’t know what a nine sun quartz was. Instead, he used the tone of a teacher who seemed to be asking his students what one plus one was.

Sure enough, besides the immortals, everyone else including Zhao Jingyan started thinking silently. None of the mortals knew what it was, nor have they ever heard of it.

On the other hand, Qin Yunshang and Chen Xuankong reacted almost immediately upon hearing Curator mention that name.

No doubt, he was an unfettered immortal.

They arrived at this conclusion as average immortals would never be aware of the nine sun quartz. Only profound immortals and above were capable of crafting this item.

They could fortify weapons with the quartz, and it was an invaluable item for immortals with fire attributes.

It was an incredibly useful item but was rare to come by. This was mainly due to the fact that half-immortals couldn’t craft them.

As they thought this was another one of Curator’s ‘tests’, both immortals treated his question seriously and provided an answer instantly. When they spoke, they interrupted each other, which caused them to exchange awkward glances.

“No worries. You can take turns. Qin Yunshang, you go first,” said Curator, who made his decision based on the chivalrous maxim of ‘ladies first’.

Judging by their reactions, he knew he had asked the right people.

Qin Yunshang cleared her throat and began explaining about the nine sun quartz. It was at that point that Lin Jin realized only immortals could craft this item. It was no wonder the mainland had no record of this item. After all, this was a rare item even among immortals.

Chen Xuankong’s explanation was almost the same so their information must be accurate.

Although Lin Jin now knew what a nine sun quartz was, obtaining it would be another problem. Also, it seemed like only Qin Yunshang and Chen Xuankong were capable of obtaining this item.

However, going by their explanation, as they were only half-immortals, they probably did not possess an item of this grade.

Nevertheless, he asked them if they had one, and their answer confirmed his suspicion.

Lin Jin didn’t conceal his desire for a nine sun quartz. He said it was required for his disciple’s pet beast evolution, and if either Qin Yunshang or Chen Xuankong could obtain one, he would give them compensation of equivalent value.

It would either be a beast appraisal or a treatment.

However, his request put troubled looks on the immortals’ faces. At first, Lin Jin assumed they were reluctant to share such a precious item. After clarifying the situation, it seems that the process was much more complicated than he thought.

“Curator, I have only heard of the nine sun quartz but never actually seen one. I can’t say it’s an extremely rare item but it’s just that not many immortals have a use for it,” explained Chen Xuankong.

First, the nine sun quartz could only be crafted by profound immortals but not all of them had a use for it. Unless they needed to craft a fire attribute magic artifact, the only other time they would need it was for a breakthrough for fire attribute immortals.

When their civilization was at its peak, they had tons of immortals with fire attributes. There were even specialty sects like the Divine Sun Sect and Hundred Blaze City. The nine sun quartz could be found everywhere due to the large demand.

Following the destruction of the path of immortality, and after these sects perished, not many fire attribute immortals were left, never mind profound immortals of that attribute. Even if they still existed, only a handful remain, and most had probably gone into hiding in some unknown corner of the world to cultivate.

Unfortunately, the Mystery Dao Sect and Immortal Cloud Sect both weren’t specialized in the fire attribute. They didn’t have fire attribute profound immortals in their sects either, not even half-immortals. Hence, it was impossible to obtain a nine sun quartz.

Now Lin Jin understood their predicament.

It wasn’t because they didn’t want to help. They simply couldn’t.

“Are there any fire attribute profound immortals in the extraterritorial zone?” asked Lin Jin. Since the Mystery Dao Sect and Immortal Cloud Sect didn’t have one, the other sect might.

Qin Yunshang said, “I’ve never heard of a fire attribute profound immortal in the extraterritorial zone before.”

Chen Xuankong nodded in agreement. He wasn’t aware of any either.

“Why don’t we go back and ask our sect elders? They might have an answer,” offered Qin Yunshang.

However, Lin Jin wasn’t hopeful.

The fact that the path of immortality had been destroyed was an indisputable fact. With the threat of the Rank 9 immortal devouring beast, the remaining immortals would never want to leave the extraterritorial zone. Their current population had gone on a steep decline since the downfall of their civilization, and since they hadn’t heard of a fire attribute profound immortal living in that area, the chances of success were terribly slim.

Then, a bold idea came to mind.

Why don’t Lin Jin venture inside to search for a fire attribute profound immortal?

Perhaps he would make an unexpected discovery. It would be risky of course, but the higher the risk, the greater the reward. So long as he could obtain the nine sun quartz, he could easily promote Xiao Huo to Rank 6.

Yet, Rank 6 wasn’t the final goal.

Lin Jin was aiming for a Rank 9 pet beast and the mainlands couldn’t offer any resources that could help Xiao Huo, or any other beast, to reach that level. It was only a matter of time before he had to venture into the extraterritorial zone.

It wouldn’t make a difference when he went there.

Once the thought appeared, the impulse grew stronger.

Lin Jin went on to ask about the extraterritorial zone. This time, even the other guests were growing increasingly curious about this mysterious place.

For them, the day might come when they decided to venture into that unique land. Then, a great chance encounter might just befall them.

However, all of them were aware of the dangers that lurked in the extraterritorial land.

“Unless one achieves immortality, a mortal’s body can never withstand the miasma’s corrosion,” warned Qin Yunshang. She wasn’t exaggerating.

She took out something.

It was a scented pouch.

Lin Jin could sense the unique spirit energy surging inside it.

“This is a cloud fragrance pouch, specially crafted by our Immortal Cloud Sect. It can weaken the miasma’s corrosion toward the wearer and I just happen to have brought an extra pouch with me. In case Curator needs this, allow me to present this to you,” said Qin Yunshang. Her move surprised Lin Jin.

He mused, ‘What a smart fairy.’

He had been asking them so much about the extraterritorial zone so it was obvious that he was interested in visiting that place.

Also, he mentioned that his disciple’s pet beast needed a nine sun quartz to evolve so his ‘disciple’ might just need to venture into the extraterritorial zone.
