Chapter 5524 Head Pavilion
“The head pavilion has come.”
The Wind God’s Left Emissary, Ye Lingkong, entered the room, his tone indifferent as he delivered the brief report. His words were clear, but their meaning left Long Chen and Tang Wan-er utterly confused. Was the Wind God Sea Pavilion merely a branch of something greater?
Feng Xinyue frowned when she heard this, and she asked, “And the pavilion master?”
“Still in seclusion,” Ye Lingkong replied with a helpless shrug, as if absolving himself of all responsibility.
Feng Xinyue was speechless as she looked at Ye Lingkong. Her stare carried such pressure that even he shivered involuntarily.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Ye Lingkong said hurriedly, holding up his hands in surrender. “I can’t deal with them.”
Without another word, Feng Xinyue turned to Long Chen. Her calm, piercing gaze made him have a bad feeling.
But before he could speak, Feng Xinyue declared, “From now, you represent the Wind God Sea Pavilion. If people ask about your position, just say that you are the vice pavilion master.”
Before Long Chen could even process her words, let alone protest, Feng Xinyue vanished without a trace, leaving him rooted in place, stunned.
“What the hell just happened?” Long Chen muttered. “Can’t she at least explain before throwing me into the fire?”
Ye Lingkong smiled bitterly. “Elder Xinyue doesn’t like social niceties, and I don’t like them either. We’ll be troubling you, brothe—cough, I mean, vice pavilion master.”
“What the hell is this? You can just randomly assign vice pavilion masters?” asked Long Chen.
Ye Lingkong replied, “Elder Xinyue’s status is special, so she can appoint anyone she wants. In any case, the pavilion master is in seclusion, so what she says counts.”
Long Chen simply stared at him, wondering whether they were conning him. Feng Xinyue had tossed this responsibility so fast that Long Chen didn’t even have time to catch it.
Suddenly, a booming voice echoed through the palace, shaking its foundations.
“What is the Wind God Sea Pavilion doing? The head pavilion has come, but you refuse to come see us? How arrogant! I will see who here needs to learn their place!” shouted a muscular, white-haired elder as he walked in with a cold expression.
Behind him, seventy or eighty figures followed. Other than a few elders, the rest were all young men and women.
The elder at the front was a half-step Divine Emperor. But due to his anger, his divine runes flowed around him. His powerful aura instantly filled the entire palace.
The elders behind him were Human Emperors, but they possessed auras far beyond ordinary Human Emperors. There was a reserved light in their eyes that showed their true prowess.
The young men and women stood behind them. Their robes were nearly identical to those of the Wind God Sea Pavilion disciples, but with a clear distinction in quality. Threads of gold shimmered through the fabric, radiating peculiar fluctuations backed by intricate and powerful formations.
Even Tang Wan-er’s divine daughter robes paled in comparison. The craftsmanship and aura of these garments placed them several levels above hers.
Whether elder or junior, every single one of them carried an air of arrogance, their chins lifted so high it seemed as though they were observing the world through their noses.
In any case, these people’s auras were shocking. The young disciples in particular emanated sharp and cutting auras, as though their very existence could split space apart. These were first-tier experts, their strength undeniable.
Yet, what shook Long Chen and Tang Wan-er the most was the ancient quality of their energy. Primal chaos qi swirled faintly within their auras—a mark of sealed experts. Their subdued Blood Qi fluctuations revealed that they had only been awakened.
If they were already this formidable without their Blood Qi fully released, how terrifying would they become when their potential was completely unlocked?
In that instant, Long Chen understood it all—why the pavilion master chose to remain in seclusion, why Feng Xinyue vanished so abruptly, and why Ye Lingkong didn’t want to face them. The answer was clear: the head pavilion’s people believed themselves to be above everyone else.
The group’s surprise became evident when they entered the main palace and found only three young disciples there. Only Tang Wan-er wore the official robes of the Wind God Sea Pavilion, while Long Chen was clad in simple black and Yue Zifeng in azure. The lack of ceremonial greeting for such a grand arrival clearly offended them.
Looking at Ye Lingkong, the fiery elder demanded, “Are you in charge here? If you knew the head pavilion’s people had come, why didn’t you greet us? Is this a rebellion?”
Ye Lingkong just stood there like usual, calm and composed. He simply stared at the elder and didn’t even bother to reply to him.
Long Chen exchanged a glance with Tang Wan-er and Yue Zifeng, and they directly got his signal. Just like that, the trio went toward the exit as though the newcomers were nothing but empty air.
To top it off, Ye Lingkong shamelessly followed behind the trio, his nonchalance stoking the elder’s fury. The elder’s face darkened as rage burned in his eyes. When had he ever experienced such blatant disrespect?
“Hold it! Are you deaf or mute? Don’t you know how to talk?” a disciple immediately raised his arm, blocking Long Chen’s path.
“Why are you cursing people?” Long Chen asked.
“Cursing? I merely stated the obvious,” sneered the disciple. “If you refuse to answer when spoken to, it’s only natural to wonder whether you’re deaf or mute.”
Long Chen’s lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. “By that logic, your mouths were so stinky, so I assumed you must have just eaten shit. Naturally, I didn’t want to respond. How’s that sound?”
The disciple’s face contorted with fury. “You’re courting death!”
He lunged for Long Chen’s collar, but before his fingers could so much as graze the fabric, Long Chen’s palm shot out like lightning. A deafening crack resounded through the hall as the slap landed.
Half the disciple’s face exploded, blood and teeth spraying as he flew through the air, crashing heavily into the floor. Gasps of shock filled the room.
This was after Long Chen had held back. Otherwise, with that person’s weak physical body, a casual slap from Long Chen would have blown his head apart.
“Brat, how dare you?!” roared one of the Human Emperor elders, his hand reaching for Long Chen as the other elders gripped their weapons, ready to attack.
Before anyone could react, an icy gleam flashed, and Yue Zifeng’s sword appeared silently at the elder’s forehead, its tip piercing just enough to draw a trickle of blood.
The elder froze. The entire palace fell into a deathly silence.
The power of Yue Zifeng’s sword condensed perfectly, and everyone could sense its immense power. Once Yue Zifeng unleashed it, the elder would die.
Yue Zifeng stood unmoving, his expression calm and unreadable. But that calmness was precisely what sent chills down everyone’s spine.
