Chapter 3777: Diamond In The Rough
Zhou Ren stood there for several moments after Little Bull released his hand.
The young disciple repeatedly flexed his fingers while staring at his palm as if expecting to find some hidden injury there. Nothing was broken. His bones were intact. His meridians were unharmed.
And yet his hand still ached.
The pain was not severe, but it was enough to remind him that what had just happened was very real. A mortal had overpowered him and not through some secret technique, treasure or trick, but with pure physical strength.
The thought alone felt absurd.
Zhou Ren had spent three hundred years cultivating. He had endured tribulations, fought beasts, and survived countless dangerous missions. While he would never consider himself among the geniuses of the sect, he was still an immortal.
Even the weakest immortal remained an immortal. Yet a mortal villager had nearly crushed his hand. The more Zhou Ren thought about it, the more ridiculous it seemed. He finally looked up at Little Bull.
The young man was currently poking at one of the ship mooring pillars nearby. Apparently he was trying to determine whether it was wood or stone.
Zhou Ren rubbed his aching hand.
"Elder..." he said slowly. "Just what kind of monster did you bring back?"
Little Bull immediately turned around.
"Monster?" He pointed at himself. "Me?"
"No." Zhou Ren replied quickly. "Not you."
"Oh." Little Bull seemed satisfied with the answer and returned to examining the pillar.
The disciple then lowered his voice. "Elder, seriously. How is this possible?"
Elder He Jian merely smiled. "You can guess already."
"A physique?" Zhou Ren asked.
The old man nodded. "Little Bull possesses a unique physique."
The disciple inhaled sharply. Even now he had trouble believing it.
A physique capable of allowing a mortal to overpower an immortal?
That was something he had never even heard of before.
Throughout the years he had met countless talented cultivators. Some possessed spirit roots of exceptional quality. Others had special constitutions that improved their cultivation speed. There were even rare bloodlines that granted unique abilities.
Yet none of those sounded anywhere near as outrageous as this.
"What kind of physique is it?" Zhou Ren immediately asked.
The old man shook his head. "I don’t know."
"You don’t know?"
"I examined him several times during our journey." Elder He Jian explained. "I can tell it is something extraordinary, but identifying it is beyond my abilities."
The disciple stared.
If even Elder He Jian could not identify it, the matter was far more serious than he initially thought. The old man was hardly ignorant. He had spent thousands of years recruiting disciples across numerous worlds.
His experience alone exceeded that of most cultivators. For him to admit ignorance meant the physique was either extremely rare or completely undocumented.
Zhou Ren looked at Little Bull again. The young man was now tapping the pillar. Apparently he had concluded it was stone. The disciple suddenly felt as though he was looking at a walking treasure.
No. Treasure was not enough.
This was more like discovering an uncut immortal jade mine while casually walking through the countryside.
"A physique that lets a mortal overpower an immortal..." Zhou Ren muttered.
His eyes widened. "Elder, if this is real..."
"It is real." He Jian interrupted.
The old man then looked directly at him. "You experienced it yourself."
Zhou Ren immediately fell silent as it was true and his hand still hurt. No amount of denial could change that.
The disciple finally let out a long breath. "I think you may have picked up a diamond in the rough."
He Jian laughed. "A diamond?"
The old man glanced at Little Bull. "Perhaps."
Zhou Ren shook his head. "No, Elder. This isn’t an ordinary diamond."
The disciple’s voice became increasingly animated. "If this physique is as special as it appears, this is a certified Peak Immortal Grade Deep Core Diamond."
The old man laughed heartily at the exaggerated description. Little Bull meanwhile had no idea what they were discussing.
The young man simply walked over again. "What’s a diamond?"
The two cultivators looked at him.
"A valuable rock." Zhou Ren replied.
Little Bull immediately nodded. "Oh."
Then after a pause he added. "Can you eat it?"
This time even Elder He Jian nearly choked.
"No."
"What if you boil it?"
"No."
"What if you grind it?"
"No."
Little Bull looked disappointed.
"Then why is it valuable?"
The disciple found himself completely unable to answer.
Fortunately Elder He Jian intervened before the conversation could continue down that path.
"We should get moving." The old man looked toward the airship docks. "Zhou Ren, didn’t you come here for a reason?"
The disciple slapped his forehead. "Right!"
In his shock, he had almost forgotten his original task. He quickly straightened himself. "I already prepared a ship."
Little Bull tilted his head."For us?"
"Of course." The young man grinned.
"Can it fly?" Zhou Ren stared blankly, then looked at the hundreds of floating ships surrounding them.
"Yes."
"Oh." Little Bull appeared impressed.
The trio soon began walking through the dock district. And as they moved, Lin Mu quietly observed everything around him. The port itself was almost a city. Hundreds of immortal flying vessels occupied different docking zones.
The amount of traffic alone was staggering.
A short while later, they arrived before one of the smaller vessels. Compared to the giant ships nearby, it appeared modest. Even so, it still measured nearly a hundred meters in length.
The hull was constructed from dark spiritual wood reinforced with metal ribs. Formation runes covered every visible surface while several sails made from some unknown material floated above without any wind.
Little Bull looked up.
And up.
And up.
"That’s small?" he asked.
Zhou Ren laughed. "For the sect? Yes."
Little Bull scratched his head. "All the Honey God Villagers could fit on it."
The disciple actually thought about that. "Probably."
They boarded shortly afterward and Lin Mu immediately noticed something interesting. There were no other passengers. The entire ship appeared empty except for a few crew members operating it.
