Chapter 3756: Celebration For Ashy

Chapter 3756: Celebration For Ashy

Since Ashy had finally awakened and become an immortal, the beasts unanimously decided that a celebration was necessary.

Lin Mu had no reason to object.

The tribulation area was quickly transformed as Little Shrubby immediately took charge. The cat transformed back into his normal form and began taking out cooking tools:

Pots, Cauldrons, Grills, Ingredients, More ingredients.

Then even more ingredients.

Within minutes an entire outdoor kitchen had appeared. The twins enthusiastically helped while Ashy watched with great interest. She had been asleep for years and had missed countless meals.

That alone was enough reason for celebration.

Several rare beast meats were prepared along with Immortal vegetables and Immortal fruits she could not eat before. There were also special sauces Little Shrubby had made after analyzing all kinds of cuisines.

Even ingredients from Mantleheim appeared.

The feast quickly became extravagant as hours passed peacefully. The beasts ate while exchanging stories. Or rather the twins spent most of the time telling stories while Ashy listened.

Naturally they focused on the most important topic.

Meng Bai.

The young formation genius unknowingly became the main entertainment of the evening. The twins enthusiastically described his various adventures.

His drinking disasters, his kidnapping incident, his accidental formation explosions, his reactions after learning Lin Mu was only a hundred years old, his attempts at looking mature as well as his occasional moments of brilliance followed immediately by complete foolishness.

Ashy laughed so hard several times that she nearly fell over.

Lin Mu simply shook his head.

If Meng Bai were present, his dignity would have suffered a devastating blow. By the end of the stories Ashy was already planning how she would tease him later.

And while this was happening in Holy Chrysalis World, far away in Mantleheim, Meng Bai suddenly shivered.

The heat from the lava rivers remained intense, yet a chill somehow crawled down his spine.

The young man looked around suspiciously.

"Why do I suddenly feel endangered?"

Jing Wei laughed nearby.

"No reason."

Back at the feast, Ashy had already learned everything.

The forging of the Twin Void Pillars.

The discovery of Mantleheim.

The Dao Embryos.

The infiltration plan.

The Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect.

The hidden vault.

All of it.

When Lin Mu finally explained their current mission, Ashy’s eyes lit up.

"This is perfect."

The bird puffed out her chest proudly.

"Leave it to me."

Lin Mu smiled.

"Oh?"

Ashy nodded confidently.

"You need information, you need people and you need secrets."

The bird grinned.

"I love all those things."

Lin Mu could not argue with that.

Among all his beasts, Ashy possessed perhaps the greatest talent for gathering information.

She was observant, patient as well as naturally curious. But most importantly... She loved gossip.

If secrets existed somewhere, Ashy would somehow discover them.

The feast continued for several more hours before everyone finally returned. Near dawn they reached One River City again. The city remained asleep as only a few lanterns still burned. The twins and Ashy immediately departed together.

They intended to search for potential identities and gather information while Lin Mu continued his own investigations.

Unfortunately his progress remained limited as several days passed.

He visited tea houses, markets, guild halls, taverns and many more places. He listened carefully, collected rumors, and tracked news about Elder He Jian. According to the news, the Elder continued moving steadily across the region.

Each report brought him closer.

One village, Then another.

Then a town, Then another settlement.

The distance slowly shrank...

Soon enough the elder would arrive near One River City.

Lin Mu knew his preparations needed to be completed before then. Yet despite all his efforts, suitable identities remained frustratingly elusive.

Many people had backgrounds.

Families.

Histories.

Too many connections.

Every option seemed flawed.

Still, Lin Mu remained patient, because now Ashy was awake. And somehow he had a feeling that the little bird would find something interesting long before he did.

The search immediately became far more productive after Ashy joined.

Lin Mu had already expected this to some extent. Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang were excellent at gathering information, but their methods were straightforward. They listened, observed, collected rumors and then returned with whatever they found. They were scouts.

Ashy, on the other hand, was an investigator.

The little bird did not simply hear a rumor and move on. Instead, she followed it, she observed people and watched them, she pieced together stories and most importantly, she verified everything before bringing it back.

It quickly became obvious why she had always been so good at learning things she probably should not have known.

Several days after her breakthrough, information began pouring in.

At first Lin Mu was hopeful.

Then he became disappointed.

The first missing person Ashy found seemed perfect; a young cultivator, no family, no close friends and missing for nearly six months. The moment Lin Mu heard the details he thought it might work.

Then Ashy revealed she had found the man gambling in another city under a different name. Apparently he had accumulated enough debt to make fleeing seem like the wiser option.

That identity was immediately discarded.

The second person appeared even better. He was a traveling hunter with a quiet personality and limited social circle. He had been gone for over a year thus there weren’t many people looking for him.

The problem emerged shortly afterward.

The man was not missing, he was in fact hiding from three wives who had somehow discovered each other.

Lin Mu refused to ask further questions.

Ashy spent several minutes laughing before moving on to the next candidate.

The third person had genuinely disappeared. But unfortunately he had been kidnapped by a criminal organization.

The fourth had joined a wandering merchant caravan, the fifth had entered seclusion, and the sixth had become a monk. Shrubby said the monk seemed a good option, as he might just stay in his monastery and Lin Mu could easily pretend to be a monk, as he had Buddhist abilities.

But all that went down to the drain when they realized this man was not a buddhist monk, but the monk of an order dedicated to the Stellar Moon Moth.

There was also a seventh man who had supposedly vanished into the mountains. But Ashy eventually discovered his skeleton, so that identity was discarded immediately. Lin Mu had no interest in pretending to be someone whose murderer might still be nearby.
