Chapter 2941: As Expected of You

Chapter 2941: As Expected of You

Zu An was taken aback hearing a familiar voice. The woman removed her veil, revealing a young and beautiful face.

“Qinghe!” Zu An was surprised and delighted. He hadn’t expected to bump into Murong Qinghe here. She had gone missing for a long time, since the Divine Palaces descended upon the Cultivation World.

Murong Qinghe was moved, too. She leaped off her steed and ran toward Zu An. It was only at the last moment that she remembered that over a thousand people were looking at her, so she hurriedly stopped with a reddened face. “Brother-in-law, what are you doing here?”

“It’s a long story. What’s your situation?” Zu An eyed the surrounding Wuhuan cavalrymen out of curiosity.

“I am the little princess of the Wuhuans. Do you know the Wuhuans? They are a powerful grassland tribe residing at the borders of the Eastern Han...” Murong Qinghe quickly explained.

Zu An knew the Wuhuans. He quickly introduced his persona in this world to her.

Murong Qinghe’s eyes lit up. “So you’re the Liu Bei who crushed the Yellow Turban Army in Ji County! As expected of brother-in-law!”

“Are you here to capture me?” Zu An asked with a frown.

Murong Qinghe nodded. “I received a report that someone had killed thirty of our tribesmen, so I came here to avenge them. I didn’t expect the culprit to be you.” Her words and gestures exuded the regality of someone in power, as opposed to her previous youthful self.

Zu An filled her in about the earlier situation.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s common for nomads to be killed in the midst of plundering. They are used to it.” Murong Qinghe had long noticed the gorgeous Tingxue. It reminded her of the popular rumors regarding Zu An and Yan Xuehen in the Cultivation World. She had even consoled Chu Youzhao over them. To think that they were really together!

I wonder how big sister Chu will get along with her in the future...

Murong Qinghe evicted those miscellaneous thoughts from her mind. She first ran back to communicate with the Wuhuan cavalrymen before returning to Zu An’s side and explaining, “Don’t worry. I’ve settled things on my side.”

Zu An was surprised. “You seem to be quite respected among the Wuhuans.”

He noticed that none of the Wuhuan cavalrymen had questioned Murong Qinghe’s decision.

“Of course. I am the Khan’s daughter, and...” Murong Qinghe shook her fist with a grin. “...I am quite the fighter.”

Zu An burst into laughter. He noticed that everyone had grown a lot since parting ways, be it in terms of strength or state of mind.

Seeing that the sky was turning dark, Murong Qinghe invited them to the Wuhuan camp. There were still many things that Zu An wanted to ask about, so he accepted the offer. Tingxue noticed that Murong Qinghe was looking at Zu An weirdly, but she still followed Zu An.

Zu An was astonished by the endless stream of tents at the Wuhuan campsite. “You must have brought a lot of people with you.”

“I brought 3000 men in total.” Murong Qinghe puffed up her chest.

“What are you here for?” Zu An noticed that they weren’t here to plunder.

“Zhongshan Commandery’s marshal, Zhang Chun, hired us here to deal with the surrounding Yellow Turban Army,” Murong Qinghe replied.

“Zhang Chun...” Zu An had guessed as much. “Is he that close with the Wuhuans?”

“Our tribesmen trade frequently with him, and he often sends us gifts. Our people has a favorable impression of him. That’s why we took on his request and came here.” Murong Qinghe suddenly frowned. “Hold on. Shouldn’t you be at Ji County? Why are you here?”

Zu An replied bitterly, “Actually, we just came from Zhang Chun’s manor...” He summarized the events that had transpired over the last few days.

Murong Qinghe was infuriated. “That Zhang fellow is shameless! Not only is he unwilling to help, but he even dares to target Sect Master Yan!”

“Actually, she isn’t Sect Master Yan but Tingxue...” Zu An briefly explained Tingxue’s situation.

Murong Qinghe was baffled. She examined Tingxue from head to toe. “Their appearances, physiques, and even dispositions are identical!”

Even Tingxue couldn’t help but say, “I have heard so many people say those words that even I wonder if I’m really the Miss Yan you speak of.”

“You definitely are. Big sister Chu had a similar experience. She lost all her memories at one point, but she eventually regained them,” Murong Qinghe consoled her.

“Let’s hope so,” Tingxue replied wistfully. She felt like something was missing in her heart.

Murong Qinghe then turned to Zu An and said, “Don’t worry, brother-in-law. If Zhang Chun doesn’t help you, I will! I’ll take my subordinates to Ji County right away!”

Zu An was both delighted and worried. “Won’t Zhang Chun protest about that? That might put you in a difficult position in your tribe.”

“He'll have to suck it up. I’m still going to honor our promise to reinforce Zhongshan Commandery, it's just that I’m taking a detour. You don’t have to worry about my standing among the Wuhuans. I have made a place for myself there,” Murong Qinghe said gleefully. “That said, I can't take my tribesmen to fight the Yellow Turban Army head-on. I can only harass their flanks and break their supply routes. Otherwise, my people might revolt against me.”

Zu An was overjoyed. “That would be wonderful. Thank you, Qinghe.”

“We’re one family...” Murong Qinghe suddenly recalled something halfway through her words, and her face reddened.

Zu An thought about the night they had shared, and it stirred something in his heart as well. Meanwhile, Tingxue eyed the two of them with questioning eyes.

Feeling awkward, Murong Qinghe led the two of them into the camp to join in the festivities around the campfire. Grassland tribes entertained themselves with songs and dances. Several tribesmen were mesmerized by Tingxue and wanted to invite her for a dance, only to be coldly turned down.

Murong Qinghe berated her people. “She’s already attached. Stop bothering her.”

The crowd looked at Zu An and sighed.

Tingxue’s face reddened. Unaccustomed to the vibrant atmosphere, she excused herself and retired to a tent.

The atmosphere was so lively that Murong Qinghe decided to drag Zu An forward to dance. Step by step, she taught him the Wuhuans’ wild and passionate dance. Their movements were quite the sight to behold, inviting resounding cheers from the crowd.

Some physical contact was inevitable while dancing, but the two of them had prior intimate contact, so they behaved much more naturally than normal friends. Slowly, the atmosphere heated up.

Murong Qinghe slowly grew bolder. She leaned toward Zu An and whispered the question that had been bugging her for a long time, “Are the rumors between you and Sect Master Yan true?”

Zu An honestly replied, “It somehow happened that way...”

“Does big sister Chu know?”

“She knows. She was the one who told me to court Sect Master Yan.”

Murong Qinghe’s lower jaw dropped. She was utterly shocked. She would never have imagined that cold master-disciple pair to be so close as to accept such an unconventional arrangement. “As expected of you.”

Zu An wrapped his arm around her waist. “Lil’ Qinghe, are you making fun of me now?”

Their bodies were pressed against each other. This familiar feeling of intimacy drove Murong Qinghe into a fluster. “Brother-in-law!”
