Chapter 2712: A Deity of Love and Beauty Worshiper
Employee 9527 had been talking to him in his world’s language, so Zu An had neglected the communication barrier. It was only when he failed to comprehend what the person in the wheelchair was saying that this occurred to him.
The most important thing on a battlefield was intelligence, but how was he to procure information when he couldn’t speak their language? If he couldn’t understand what anyone was saying, the only fate awaiting him was death. If only he had realized this problem beforehand, he could have consulted Employee 9527 about this. Who knew how much it would cost if he posed that question now?
Employee 9527 led him into an empty room next. Noticing Zu An’s bewilderment, Employee 9527 explained with a smile, “Our guests come from different worlds. It is difficult to come up with a standardized room design because of their different interests and lifestyle habits, so we decided to let our guests arrange their own rooms instead.”
“Arrange their rooms?” Zu An was taken aback.
Employee 9527 lightly tapped on a crystal ball on the table beside him, and the crystal ball lit up. “Place your hand on the crystal ball and imagine a room you feel comfortable in.”
Zu An placed his hand on the crystal ball, and the scenery abruptly changed. It first transformed into his room in Brightmoon City, then the residence on Mount Yuquan, and then his room in the imperial palace...
Taken aback, he hurriedly retracted his hand.
Employee 9527 chuckled. “You can design your room however you want to. I shan’t inconvenience you any further with my presence here. If you’re hungry, you may head to the canteen or call for room service. I wish you a pleasant journey with us.”
He was about to leave when Zu An stopped him and voiced out his concern. Then, he asked, “How do the other guests overcome the communication barrier?”
“There are mainstream languages that experts from each world use to converse with one another.” Employee 9527 was startled. “Doesn’t your world have such language books?”
Zu An shook his head. “Our world has never interacted with other civilizations except in dungeons.”
The Monster World was the only other civilization they had interacted with. Thinking back, he had learned the demon language back then for that purpose, though the demon language was unlikely to be a mainstream language in the Myriad Worlds.
“That complicates things. I was able to converse with you because we knew which world you were from through the invitation letter, and the conglomerate assigned me a translator for your language.” Employee 9527 retrieved a small chip from his throat. What he spoke next sounded guttural; Zu An couldn’t comprehend at all. He quickly pasted the chip back on his throat and continued, “My apologies; that was a demonstration.”
Then, he continued, “I have backup translators, and I can give one to you in view of our friendship. However, our translators only cover the languages of the other guests and the major powers. It can’t translate the languages of the other civilizations.”
Zu An was delighted. “I will surely repay this favor in the future!”
Employee 9527 was worried. “Don’t thank me yet. Our translators are connected to our spaceship’s database—that’s how it does its live translation. But Dreamland is a peculiar place where our signals are unable to reach. Our translators will not work in there.”
“Do you not have offline translators?” Zu An asked.
Employee 9527 was surprised that Zu An knew about that. “Our conglomerate has offline translators, but they are very expensive. Information is the most valuable commodity in the Myriad Worlds, and the number of civilizations and languages in the Myriad Worlds is as many as the stars in the sky. Offline translators can only cover some of the mainstream languages, and even so, the information they contain is already colossal.
“You’ll have to trade for one with resources, as you don’t have any credit points yet. What do you plan to use for the trade? I’ll apply for an offline translator for you right now, but the processing time for valuable commodities tends to take longer. It’ll be best if you can find something comparable for the exchange before my superiors process the request.”
He quickly took his leave afterward.
Zu An fell into deep thought. What do I have that can interest the Universal Conglomerate? They will be interested in the Wonderpoint World, but I can’t use that for the trade. They should be interested in an immortal medicine too, but...
While he was deep in thought, he heard knocks on his door.
“Who is it?”
“I heard there’s a new guest on the ship, so I came here to greet you.” It was a feminine voice that sounded sweet and energetic even through the door.
Zu An’s recent experiences left him in no mood to philander. He wanted to turn the other party down, when it suddenly occurred to him that the other party was speaking his world’s language. Thus, he opened the door and saw a beautiful woman dressed in red standing outside.
Even Zu An had to concede that the other party was truly gorgeous. Few in the Cultivation World could rival her looks.
The woman’s eyes lit up upon seeing Zu An. “You look dashing. Completely unlike the others.”
Zu An was speechless.
He couldn’t agree with her lest he unknowingly offend the other guests. “Miss, are you a passenger too? Why didn’t I see you at the bar earlier?”
The red-robed woman pouted. “A glance at those fellows is enough to make me lose my appetite for three days. There’s no way I would share a space with them.”
Zu An thought about the people he had met in the bar. The black-cloaked old woman was hideous, and the wheelchair-bound old man was disfigured. The only one who looked normal was the person with translucent skin but balding hair.
“I am Firework. What’s your name?” The red-robed woman suddenly looked at Zu An with widened eyes, her black, curly eyebrows fluttered in place.
“You’re indeed as beautiful as fireworks. I'm Zu An,” Zu An replied. It felt pleasant to talk to a beautiful woman.
“You’re good-looking and have a glib tongue. The only thing you’re lacking is a good name.” The red-robed woman harrumphed. “Do you intend to continue chatting with me here? Aren’t you going to invite me in for a seat?”
“That might not be appropriate.”
“What’s up with all these useless rules? I just want a place to sit down so that we can converse.”
It would be impolite for Zu An to turn her down when she had already said as much, so he invited her into his room while remaining vigilant. Someone who could board this spaceship was unlikely to be naive. She could be plotting something.
“Is this your world’s design aesthetic? I see beauty principles being applied everywhere. When do you plan to bring me over for a tour?” The red-robed woman looked at the room’s layout and nodded in approval.
Zu An was using his room in Mount Yuquan’s residence. He replied with a smile, “Could you be a worshiper of the Deity of Love and Beauty?”
The red-robed woman blinked. “Isn’t it rude to ask about a woman’s faith right away? But since you’re so good-looking, I shall make an exception and answer your question. Yes, I worship the Deity of Love and Beauty, and your appearance fulfills the requirement to be a worshiper, too. Would you like to join my faith?”
Zu An was speechless. He hadn’t expected the woman to ask him to change his faith right away.
He coughed softly. “I heard the Deity of Love and Beauty has already passed away.”
This was a good chance to fish for some information.
