Death… And Me

Chapter 3923: No Wonder

Chapter 3923: No Wonder

Roan thought that people would rather capture him and see if they could find something about how he and his companions acquired Golden Light Potentials. Simply put, soul search. The killing intent was something Roan expected to see later on when the enemies gave up trying to capture him or anyone else in the twins’ group.

Besides, it was like Roan said. It was quite early for anyone to decide to make a move on him, as everyone would have their eyes on the twins’ group.

Still, Roan joined his group, looking at the cultivator who would be leading them. "Are you Kristan?"

Kristan, a Void Tempering Late Stage Cultivator, nodded at him. "You must be the guy everyone is talking about, right? One of the four who showed the Celestial Ascendance Radiance." He looked at Roan closely. "I don’t see anything special about you, but that matters not. As per the rules, I’m leading this group, so make sure to follow my orders."

Roan didn’t mind. "I have no intention of causing any trouble. Completing this mission according to the rules will actually give us better rewards, so I will do everything right."

Kristan was slightly surprised. He was expecting Roan to be extremely arrogant due to his potential. He even prepared a few things in case Roan started to cause trouble. Now, his preparations seemed to have been for nothing. "Well, I hope you’re telling the truth."

Meanwhile, Rean, Kentucky, and Celis were part of other groups. The same went for Foliana, Tanxan, Wisfreya, and Zangeshu.

’Roan,’ Rean suddenly contacted him, ’Someone seems intent on killing me here. What about you?’

Roan glanced in the direction Rean’s group was waiting for the teleport. ’Same thing here. We’d better check with the others as well.’

Soon, Kentucky answered that he got the same result. Just like the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, Celis and Kentucky could also see the red color of killing intent now. Too bad Foliana and the others couldn’t.

’It’s not someone in this room,’ Kentucky commented.

’Hum? I’m not seeing any killing intent at all,’ Celis said.

’Celis isn’t, uh?’ Roan closed his eyes, focusing on the killing intent. Even if the others could see it thanks to their connection with him, Roan was still much better at it. Besides, he could literally see Rean’s memories of this event to make the call. ’The killing intents are not coming from the same individual. Give me a second...’

Roan then concentrated on his Divine Sense, quickly finding the source by working both his killing intent perception and divine sense together. ’They are all Elemental Space Realm Experts, two Late Stages and one Peak Stage, seemingly from the same power, as they are waiting together in another room. Only three of them... Are they leaving Celis alone on purpose, or could it be they didn’t have time or the personnel to act against the four of us?’

Rean looked at Foliana and Zangeshu’s group. ’What about the others? They can’t see killing intent like we do, and we obviously can’t see killing intent that isn’t directed at us.’

’There isn’t much we can do,’ Roan said. Then, he used his Divine Sense to tell Zangeshu and the others about what he found out.

Of course, no one was really worried. With their power, they could even flee from a Divinity Realm Expert if necessary. In the case of Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky, they could fight them back and probably win if the guy’s cultivation wasn’t at the Late or Peak Stage.

Foliana, Zangeshu, and Tanxan accepted the warning, even though it seemed like they weren’t being targeted like the twins’ group. The reason was apparent. Only the Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis showed potential at the Celestial Ascendance Radiance Level.

As for Wisfreya, she would be lying if she said she wasn’t a little nervous. Let’s not forget, she was only 28 and truly just a Void Tempering Realm expert. But for her, the Galantes Country prepared a proper backup. She might not be at the level of the twins, but she still showed the third-best potential light, which was worth protecting. That was also another reason that it would be very unusual for anyone to act against her for the time being.

Finally, the teleport time arrived for Roan. The rest of them would teleport to other places later.

"Alright," Kristan led them to the platform where the formation was going to activate. "As you already know, our mission this time is to retrieve some stolen tech that was being used in Junwerk, a country on the border with Danskio Continent. It is a quite remote and harsh region, which wouldn’t usually be selected as a starting point for an attack. But it is exactly because of that that the fort there was attacked by a small group of raiders, likely from our continent."

The formation around them began to activate as Kristan continued. "However, those who stole the equipment probably didn’t expect we could use the Werdlem network to locate it. They can’t be blamed, as the equipment usually wouldn’t have any connection with the Werdlem Network. However, due to the unusual nature of the region, some of the equipment was controlled remotely, as we don’t often leave many cultivators there to operate them."

Zruklau, another member of the group and a Void Tempering Middle Stage like Roan, raised his hand. "Do we know the strength of those who attacked that place?"

Too bad he had no time to hear the answer. The teleport formation activated, and a flash of silver light followed. The space around them distorted, and everything went blurry for a few seconds. When everything came back to normal, Roan’s group was already in Junwerk Country.

Of course, Kristan answered the question after they arrived, while walking down the teleport formation. "From the reports, there are quite a few Elemental Space Realms, some Transition ones, and three Void Tempering, with the strongest being at the Peak Stage of the Void Tempering."

Peak Stage was a stage higher than Kristan’s Late Stage. However, Kristan was one of the geniuses of the Divine Military Academy, so everyone expected him to easily beat any common cultivator in the same realm, even if they were a stage higher. If that weren’t the case, this mission wouldn’t have been assigned to them in the first place.

"Hello, friends from the Divine Academy." A cultivator was already waiting for them there. "I thank you for your quick response. I’m Jesesfau, the one in charge of this Fort in Junwerk. We have already tracked the culprits down and can move out at any moment."

Kristan nodded. "Good. We are leaving straight away. The earlier we finish this, the faster we can go back to the academy. Lead the way."

Jesesfau followed the orders, and their group quickly flew out of the fort, followed by a few tens of Elemental Space and Transition Realm experts.

*Bzt...*

But then, Roan glanced back, noticing something on the teleport formation they had just left behind. No one arrived, nor did it activate, but Roan understood what was happening immediately. ’Hmph! No wonder they are confident to make a move so soon.’

He said nothing, flying straight and leaving the fort’s range sometime later.
